I've got a story I'm very excited to show to you all. And I cannot wait to get to certain parts of it! I will be making this into a Lore Pinkerlocke, which means that I will try to write something for it at least every few days. Feel free to comment on the thread; I would love to hear your thoughts! Inspired by reading Petall's wonderful Pinkerlocke, All That Was Lost. Seriously, yours is amazing!
Basic rules: A death in the coliseum = that dragon must be exalted. This is the most essential rule of a nuzlocke. All loot obtained in the coliseum is irrelevant, as is the loot obtained from gathering. There are no restrictions about applying apparel to your dragons. Do whatever makes sense to you. Same goes for familiars. Ping or message me if you take the challenge ;p (you don't actually /have/ to but I'd love to see how it goes!) And, most crucially, all nuzlocke activity corresponds with the loot you obtain daily from Pinkerton's plundered pile! Optional sentimental rule: If a dragon reaches level 25 it "retires". It can join the ranks of your main lair. Drops of Fate: Food: Coliseum time! Plants: 10-20 matches Insects: 20-30 matches Seafood: 30-40 matches Meat: 40-50 matches Choose from one of these two rules: Hardmode: You must select coliseum challengers in your lair using a random number generator. Then, select the coliseum arena that corresponds to the highest level dragon of that group (For a 'medium' mode, select the venue that is one tier down from that of highest level dragon). If your dragons level up while in an area, you can still stay there for the whole day. You can quit your battle streak at any time to regen health, and flee from battles if it is appropriate. Don't try do 50 matches in a row unless you want a wiped-out dragon! OR Easymode: Choose whichever team and venue you want and go for it. Running from battles, using health pots, and ending the battle streak is fine, as I explained above. (These ranges can also be altered to suit your level of activity/personal preference.) Materials and trinkets: Flex your creative muscles! Note that there is currently a glitch in which Pinkerton mislabels materials as trinkets. If you obtain a "trinket" from Pinkerton, double check to make sure its not actually a material! Materials: Do some writing for your nuzlocke. How does your new nuzlocke clan change and develop? What are your dragons like personality-wise? How do they get along? How do they die? Is there an antagonist in this nuzlocke, or are they merely struggling against the forces of nature? Write dragon bios! Make a blog, or a thread for your challenge in the creative forums! Write short stories or paragraphs, or add to one big one adventure! Trinkets: Do some art for your nuzlocke! Digital or traditional, use whatever medium feels best for you. Draw deaths. Draw dragons. Draw humanized versions of your dragons (if that's your sort of thing). Draw familiars and dragons together. It doesn't have to be that good or elaborate. If you make a nuzlocke thread, post your art there. Obviously, you might not have time in your day to do something creative. If that's the case, don't worry about it. This challenge is meant to be fun and heartwrenching, not a chore. Rare drops: Wildcards Familiars: Buy the cheapest dragon in the auction house of a specific breed. Use a random number generator (between 1-14) to determine which breed you will get! (Optionally: attach the familiar to the new dragon.) 1. Fae 2. Guardian 3. Mirror 4. Pearlcatcher 5. Ridgeback 6. Tundra 7. Spiral 8. Imperial 9. Snapper 10. Wildclaw 11. Nocturne 12. Coatl 13. Skydancer 14. Bogsneak 15. Gaoler Apparel: Breed two of your dragons. The dragons you pick are up to you. You can also change one of the genes on a dragon, or use a scatterscroll if you are rich and crazy. Note: You must flip a coin for each hatchling once they hatch. If tails, the dragon is dead and you must exalt it. This is in keeping with the origional Nuzlocke thread's rule, because I really like it. Battle items: Uh-oh!!! Flip a coin. Heads = DEATH STREAK Tails = Nothing happens DEATH STREAK rules: Randomly select three dragons using a random number generator. Fight in the coliseum using the "food" rules 10 rounds consecutively (ie. you cannot leave that arena), quitting midway if a dragon dies. If you are using the easymode rules, switch to the hardmode rules for battlestones. (Note that the 'death streak' needs to be tested for deadliness. It should be pretty deadly, but not totally impossible.) After testing, it seemed to work as intended! Survival depends on your willingness to be both lucky and cautious. Starting out: Using the method I detailed in the "familiar" possibility above, obtain a small number of dragons (I suggest 2 or 3). If they already have names, keep the name! If not, name them whatever you like. The challenge starts once all of the dragons, if they are hatchlings, grow into adulthood. Alternatively, choose 2-3 existing dragons in your lair to participate. This has certain advantages (eliminates the need to wait for maturity and breeding cooldowns) but also some disadvantages (less random=less exciting). You may want to "partition" your nuzlocke dragons away from your regular dragons so you don't get them mixed up. Losing: If your dragon count falls to zero you have a few options 1. Declare the challenge a "loss" and give up 2. Wait for Pinkerton to drop a familiar 3. Just say "welp" and buy another dragon from the AH without waiting for Pinkerton because you lack patience.
[u]Additional Rules

Because the dragons who make it to Level 25 will be joining my main lair, I will be cherry picking the characters.
Dragons that die may be either exalted, sold, or given to readers. If you would like to claim a dragon in case of death, feel free! It's first come first serve. Deep in the Fortress of the Ends, past criminals and Shade fragments, lies a Horrorterror so terrible that only the gaoler Overseers have ever seen it. A blooming darkness not unlike the Shade, it seeks out only one thing: Destruction.

And it has escaped.

Join three dragons as they travel across Sornieth in search of an orb said to contain the last fragment of the Pillar’s former Barrier. The Temple of the Ends, hidden deep within a cave system, is their first but not final destination.

Will they be successful? Or will the Horror destroy us all?

Rules taken from the original thread here.

All loot obtained in the coliseum is irrelevant, as is the loot obtained from gathering.
There are no restrictions about applying apparel to your dragons. Do whatever makes sense to you. Same goes for familiars.
Ping or message me if you take the challenge ;p (you don't actually /have/ to but I'd love to see how it goes!)
And, most crucially, all nuzlocke activity corresponds with the loot you obtain daily from Pinkerton's plundered pile!

Optional sentimental rule:
If a dragon reaches level 25 it "retires". It can join the ranks of your main lair.

Drops of Fate:

Food: Coliseum time!
Plants: 10-20 matches
Insects: 20-30 matches
Seafood: 30-40 matches
Meat: 40-50 matches

Choose from one of these two rules:

Hardmode: You must select coliseum challengers in your lair using a random number generator.

OR

Easymode: Choose whichever team and venue you want and go for it. Running from battles, using health pots, and ending the battle streak is fine, as I explained above.

(These ranges can also be altered to suit your level of activity/personal preference.)

Materials and trinkets: Flex your creative muscles!

Rare drops: Wildcards

Familiars: Buy the cheapest dragon in the auction house of a specific breed. Use a random number generator (between 1-14) to determine which breed you will get! (Optionally: attach the familiar to the new dragon.)

1. Fae

8. Imperial
9. Snapper
10. Wildclaw
11. Nocturne
12. Coatl
13. Skydancer
14. Bogsneak
15. Gaoler

Apparel: Breed two of your dragons.

Heads = DEATH STREAK
Tails = Nothing happens

DEATH STREAK rules: Randomly select three dragons using a random number generator. Fight in the coliseum using the "food" rules 10 rounds consecutively (ie. you cannot leave that arena), quitting midway if a dragon dies. If you are using the easymode rules, switch to the hardmode rules for battlestones.

1. Declare the challenge a "loss" and give up
2. Wait for Pinkerton to drop a familiar
3. Just say "welp" and buy another dragon from the AH without waiting for Pinkerton because you lack patience.

Additional Rules
 • Because the dragons who make it to Level 25 will be joining my main lair, I will be cherry picking the characters. I want someone who I'll want to keep for more than just sentimentality, as I have too many dragons already (I have a problem). Call me shallow, but I want to enjoy my dragons!

Prologue

It was night in the Fortress of the Ends. The harsh and unforgiving wind howled through the ice spires, screaming their displeasure into the moonless sky. From within the darkness arose a shape.

Obsidian fur billowed in the wind as the gaoler padded across the frozen expanse. She froze, looked around. A few seconds later another gaoler skidded out from behind a spire. A deep purple mane billowed around his face as he stared wildly in her direction.

“Endra!” he gasped. “It’s escaped!”

Endra narrowed her eyes. “What has?” she asked sharply.

“The Schatten!”

Endra stiffened. The Horrorterror known only as the Schatten, for its similarity to the fragments left of the Shade, was one of the worst prisoners of the Fortress. And if Gander was telling the truth…

“Send out the Seekers!” she barked. “We must find it before it seeps into the rest of Sornieth!”

It was too late. The sky went black as a sound unlike any the two had ever heard sounded across the frozen expanse. The pair looked up just in time to see a large dark shape looming above them. Claws reached out as if to skewer them alive, and billions of eyes gazed from within the mass’s center.

It was headed straight for them.

“Do not let it escape!” Endra shouted over the growing noise. “We must fight!”

The dragons stood their ground, but to no avail. The Schatten was upon them.

[b]Day 1: An Essential Mission [item=Berserker] [sub]Death Streak![/sub] “Remember, you three have been chosen because of your dedication to Justice, despite your rather… unfortunate flights.” The large gaoler paced back and forth in front of the trio, red fur fluffed up against the biting wind. Fungus yawned and shifted his feet into a more comfortable position. The old coot had been droning on for near an hour now; he had already said this part four times! When were they going to get started on their journey? Beside him a wildclaw, blue wings glistening in the weak light, smacked him with her claw. “Pay attention,” she hissed, glaring. Fungus glared back. Who did she think she was, to tell him what to do? On her other side Irani nodded at the gaoler’s words. Fungus snorted. She probably was as bored as he was. Only Layet would actually pay attention to this driveling nonsense! Suckup. “Fungus!” the gaoler barked. Fungus whipped his head around to the front, startled. “You are not paying attention! This is important! The whole of Sornieth depends on you, and you haven’t listened to a word I said!” “With all due respect, sir,” Fungus drawled. “You’ve been repeating yourself for the past hour. The Seekers couldn’t go because they’re all busy, we’re Sornieth’s last hope, blah blah blah.” He shifted his feet impatiently. “Can we go now?” Layet and the gaoler both glared at him. Fungus stared back, unruffled. Finally the gaoler snorted. “Young dragons,” he muttered. “No sense of respect.” Louder, he added, “Alright, since I see that my words aren’t imparting any sense of responsibility in you – do you remember your duty?” “Find the Orb in the Temple of the Ends, locate the Schatten, and contain it,” Layet said without further prompt. The gaoler nodded. “Very good,” he said. “At least one of you understands the importance of this mission. You may go. You leave immediately.” Fungus turned to leave, not even looking to see if the others were following. When he was almost out of the clearing, the gaoler called out one last time. “Be careful, you three. Remember, the fate of Sornieth rests in your claws.” Right. This is important information, and you were treating it like it was nothing!” "Because it was nothing,” Fungus retorted. “Find the Temple, find the Orb, contain the Horror. Simple as that. I don’t know why you’re all making such a big fuss over such a small thing.” “Small!” “Fungus,” Irani said softly, coming up to his right. “Layet’s right, this is important. Remember, this is a very dangerous creature. We must complete our mission, or the whole of Sornieth could be in danger.” “Ugh, not you too,” Fungus complained. “I’ve had enough from the old geezer. I don’t need a lecture from the two of you!” “Why you little…!” “Please, Layet,” Irani said. “Let’s just go.” Layet grumbled but didn’t say anything more. Fungus snorted. Day 1: An Essential Mission
Berserker
Death Streak!
“Remember, you three have been chosen because of your dedication to Justice, despite your rather… unfortunate flights.” The large gaoler paced back and forth in front of the trio, red fur fluffed up against the biting wind.

The whole of Sornieth depends on you, and you haven’t listened to a word I said!”

“With all due respect, sir,” Fungus drawled. “You’ve been repeating yourself for the past hour. The Seekers couldn’t go because they’re all busy, we’re Sornieth’s last hope, blah blah blah.” He shifted his feet impatiently. “Can we go now?”

Layet and the gaoler both glared at him. Fungus stared back, unruffled.

Finally the gaoler snorted. “Young dragons,” he muttered. “No sense of respect.” Louder, he added, “Alright, since I see that my words aren’t imparting any sense of responsibility in you – do you remember your duty?”

@Petall Thank you so much! I have an idea of where it's going to go, but of course it's a Pinkerlocke – things could very well change.
