"Did you have to bring the kid?" Karma rolled her eyes.
"What? You guys are the ones who wanted me to be spending time with him! What else was I supposed to do?!" Bone exclaimed. On his back a small wildclaw hatchling sat nestled between his wings, clinging to his fur. He could feel his son's weight shifting, peering out to get a closer look at the ramshackle streets around them.
"He has a point," Pomona added, looking pointedly at Karma.
The spiral just rolled her eyes. "But this could be dangerous! Who knows what Jett and Scoril have been up to in the boonies of this crazy city!
They had been following Violet and Zeal since they had left the tavern this morning. Karma had been eavesdropping on their conversations and had a feeling they were going to be meeting up with Jett and Scoril soon. She hadn't managed to pick up what her father's offer was however, and it was clear she was skeptical that it was more than just talk.
"Shhh! They're stopping!" Pomona exclaimed, halting in her path.
They had just reached the corner of an extremely run down block. There seemed to be a clear divide between this side of the road and the next. It was difficult to see the shrouded buildings on the other side, and Bone could feel Coldstorm nestling deeper into his thick coat.
After a moment, Violet and Zeal started moving again, disappearing behind building. Bone rose to his feet first, eager to follow, but was utterly dismayed to find his path blocked by some invisible force. It had been like walking into a wall, and the tundra had to stop to rub his nose. Coldstorm only just held on tight enough to stop himself from falling, and he let out a surprised cry. There were two more thuds as Pomona and Karma rammed whatever had been blocking them.
"Well, what do we do now?" Karma asked, looking irritated.
"Now we wait," Pomona said, sitting herself down and staring into a fog. Knowing that nothing would away her, Bone sat down to join her, quietly playing with his son. After staring at them for a while, Karma sighed and curled her body around herself, looking resigned.
"You both are idiots," Karma huffed as she closed her eyes to nap.
Zeal went on ahead, unaware of Violet's hesitation. There was something about this place that gave her the creeps. Like the rest of the city, it looked as though it had once been a joyous place, but there was something off about it. It looked to have been some sort of circus, or something similar, and ratty tents billowed in the breeze, too torn to be much shelter now. The signs, which must have once been brightly coloured, we're almost illegible, but occasionally she picked up words like 'cursed' or 'stolen.'
Violet wanted to ask Zeal if they could turn around and go home, but she was too frightened to speak. It wasn't until she saw a dragon skull lying on the ground that she turned to Zeal, and discovered she had fallen too far behind. She could no longer see the pale skydancer.
Violet whipped her head around, nervously backing away towards the entrance. This was all too much. She had made a mistake. That was when she felt her body collide with another and she screamed, before realizing that it was just Jett.
"Oh, thank goodness!" Violet couldn't help but exclaim.
"I'm sorry for scaring you. You seemed a little lost. Zeal made it in alright, and I was worried something had eaten you." Jett grinned.
"I-" Violet didn't know what to say.
"I'm just kidding. Come on!" Jett turned to go, then something on Violet's face caught his attention, and his expression shifted to one of concern. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Violet lied, mouth dry. "This place is a little creepy, that's all."
Jett frowned as he looked around. "Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of it myself. But it's protected by wards so it's the safest place to meet without being discovered by unsavoury ears." The wildclaw held out a hand. "Are you coming?"
Violet took his hand and immediately felt safer. Breathing a sigh of relief, she followed him into the largest of the buildings, wondering what was to come.
"Are they here yet?" Bohrium scrambled over his parents backs, trying to get a closer look at the hatching egg. He was ecstatic to be getting another brother or sister. He had so many fond memories of growing up with Bahat, and he couldn't wait to be a big brother himself.
"Not yet, but soon," Age reassured him. The egg was shaking, and cracks were beginning to form.
After what felt like an eternity, a small mirror hatchling broke into the world, already bigger than Bohrium. The far let our a squeal of excitement and fluttered through the air towards Bahat, who was watching from behind. Together, the brothers watched as their parents scooped their new brother and began cleaning the egg fluid off of him.
"Welcome to the world, Boo," Age smiled. Their family had grown once again.

So, I had this chapter written and ready to go on Friday... right as I had to run out the door for a leadership retreat this weekend! So, here it is now! It's a couple days late, but Coldstorm doesn't grow up until tomorrow, so I say it's all in good time.
Thank you for all your patience and kindness these past couple weeks. It's still difficult, but I'm stepping back into normal life and things are gradually returning to some sense of normal. Starting tomorrow, I'm planning on returning to the Coli when I get pulls, because I think I can handle it now, and being bound to daily pulls will likely help get things moving again.
Speaking of which, I go back to school this week, so there probably won't be daily updates anymore. I plan on writing shorter updates, and writing as often as I can, to make sure I keep the 'locke moving, but university is busy and once assignments start rolling in and my other weekly activities get going, there are days where there just won't be any time at all. My goal is to try to stick to trying to write at least once a week. I'm going to aim to do more, and I'd love to write daily, but as long as I write once a week and the story keeps moving, I'll be happy. I'm also going to separate art pulls from writing due to my restricted time, so on days I get a trinket pull, I'm going to post art on its own without any writing, unless it happens to land on a day where I have an unusual amount of free time.
