Great choice!
I'd figured you'd change him after mentioning not being used to Anticipate.
Did you choose Spiral for the reason Blight gave?
Or for personal preference?
He makes a great noodle. I wonder what Capricious'll think. If she doesn't already know that is. Hopefully Pink'll stop holding out on you soon!

@Weredogalism I chose to make him a Spiral purely for personal preference, heh. Also knowing that I would eventually make him a Spiral, I had already been thinking about why Blithe would choose to be one, and I felt this made sense~.
I though about including her reaction in this post, but then I wasn't quite sure how the dialogue would go. Mostly that's just because Blithe would be a blabbering mess, so I figured I'll get her reaction once he's had some time to calm down.

True confessions: This is the first time I've ever drawn a Fae. It was... interesting? I never noticed that Fae have these tiny, little ears and now I'm just weird out by them, not gonna lie.

Metalworkers from the Ashfall Waste use cold lava and rubies from Dragonhome to make brooches like this one. Merchants like to wear these to show their wealth. (Special thanks to Duveteux!)

Day Six:
“How are you holding up over there?” Capricious asked between breaths. Blithe was sprawled out on some spare mats nearby, panting heavily and only managing a groan.
“Everything hurts,” he eventually replied. “Maybe I should have… waited a couple days… before trying one of these… lessons again.”
Capricious wouldn’t argue with him on that thought. It’d only been two days since his breed change. He had been so excited when he’d found her, tripping over both his words and himself. She had been just as excited; the new form suited him so well! She may not have known him for long, but she could tell just how much more confident and empowered he was.
This, however, had made the Spiral so restless that Icnoyotl gave in and cleared him for some light training to burn some of that energy off. Unfortunately, Lirpa didn’t seem to know what that was. Capricious was just glad she hadn’t taken them through the Mire run- one of the clan’s most brutal training courses- like she had seen some of the other unfortunate youth do. She had periodically watched trainees literally drag themselves out of the simulator only to collapse at the entrance; and that was after only five minutes.
Luckily, she and Blithe were sent to the basic training fields again, considering his recent transformation and her… well. Lack of skill, to put it bluntly.
She spent most of the early session hiding behind Blithe. At least hiding the best she could, as he was all over the place. He was having to relearn his battle strategies all over again as he got used to his new body, which meant a lot of trip ups. Literally. Capricious did her best to keep too many illusion beasts (created by Shadewalker, another of Duskhollow’s fighters) from ganging up on Blithe as he barreled into their midst haphazardly. It wasn’t the most successful training session (something Shadewalker was sure to let the two know), but they did get through their allotted battles for the day without too much incident.
Despite how much she disliked it, Capricious knew that this was necessary. If they were to survive out in the wild, they would need this training.
Finally, Blithe let out a whew and picked himself up off the mats, coiling around to look at her.
“Alright. I’m starving. You?”
“You know it,” she replied, stretching out her wings to steady herself as she stood.
He grinned. “Got any tasty suggestions for me today?” Since his diet now consisted of insects, she had taken it upon herself to show him what a wonderful range of delicacies there was now for him to enjoy.
She grinned back an answered, “I’ve got just the thing. Ever tried a froghopper? They’re super tasty and I’ve heard that they can pass as their own red meat.”
Blithe found the energy to twist in anticipation. “Sounds delicious. Lead the way!”

Hey look, I was able to include an item in the story.
Anyway, I finally got food! Yay!!! Thanks Pink~. May not be an official writing day, but I was waiting on this to progress the story a little.
Thanks to being able to train them (finally), they are now both level 4~.

The Red and Black Froghopper is a lot less dangerous than it appears... if one considers a something so tiny to look dangerous.

Day Seven:
Capricious carefully and methodically fit small package after small package into her pack, pulling things out and rearranging as necessary to make everything fit securely. She took her time, being quite tired here at the end of the day. She and Blithe had been taking odd jobs around the lair just to earn enough treasure to build their supplies for their journey. Today, she had been helping Relic and Anamnesis with inventory (though it seemed odd to have two Ridgebacks as inventory keepers, they had a knack for knowing just how much of everything there should be and where it was). As payment, she was allowed to take a bit of the supplies for herself; some dried and pickled foods, small traps and snares for hunting, extra rope, and such the like. No one had yet asked what the Spiral or the Fae were up to, but occasionally she would catch the other dragons exchanging knowing glances.
Once everything was packed up, she pushed a wing through the pack’s strap and hefted it up onto her shoulder. It felt heavy against her sore shoulders and she let out a breath. She wasn’t done yet, she knew. She still needed to swing by the medical wing for some first aid supplies.
The bridge was crowded with other dragons leaving their jobs on the industrial side of the canyon and moving to the communal and personal quarters that lined the opposite. The small Fae dodged between the bigger breeds, wanting to get to the clinic office in the hour before it closed for the night. She was panting by the time she reached it, though there were still several minutes to spare. A middle-aged nocturne by the name of Llyr sat at the desk sorting out papers. He looked up when she entered, pausing his work and coming around the furniture to greet her.

“How can I help you?” he asked softly.
“I would like to purchase some supplies,” she replied, regaining her breath and holding out a list to him. “Just first aid and field medicine.”
He took the parchment and looked past his speckled nose at it with a curious expression. After a moment he nodded, saying, “Very well. This will take me a few minutes to gather and tally up, you may wait here in the meantime.”
She took a seat on one of the perches in the waiting room, settling down with a sigh. She was content to just sit in the silence for a while before the minutes really began to drag. Letting her eyes wander over the room, they stopped on a poster nearby. Changing your Breed and what you Need to Know about it, she read. It had some basic notes on the poster itself, and below were a set of pamphlets most of which seemed to focus on specific breeds. Flying down to the stand she paused, picking one out of the front.
How to Determine if a Breed Change is Right for You. She began flipping through the pages, reading them over in interest. Ever since Blithe’s change, she had been wondering if she would also be better off as a different breed. There was nothing wrong with her being a Fae- not really- she just wondered about what would happen when she and Blithe were out in the wilds. Being a Fae, she was so very small, and the world was so very big. If she were something bigger, stronger- like a Guardian- she could carry more and protect her and Blithe out on the road. Then again, as a Guardian, she would have to go on a Search, a search that may force her and Blithe to part ways. That would be a terrible way to begin a journey. She flipped further into the pamphlet. As a Mirror, she would be a fierce hunter, but they spend most of their time on the ground. Plus she would have to give up her diet of insects. Nope, not for her. Now narrowing it to dragons that ate insects, she continued flipping. Spiral? It would feel too much like copying Blithe. Pearlcatcher? Even thinking of taking care of one of those pearls sounded like a hassle. Skydancer? Graceful, yes, but the sensory overload from their extra sense didn’t sound pleasant to her. Nocturne? Not really a bad choice, to be fair, and appropriate considering their destination. However, the magics for such a change were stronger and more difficult than others and thus were more strictly regulated. Imperial?
She shut the pamphlet with a slap and quickly returned it to the shelf it came from. No point even thinking about that one. A gentle cough from nearby drew her attention; Llyr had returned with her order, neatly packed in their own bag. She flitted over to the desk where he totaled the cost for her and she gave him what she owed. As she gather the things, he stopped her to ask, “Was there anything else you needed before you go?”
Meeting his electric blue gaze, she knew he meant more than that immediate moment. Both of their eyes moved to the pamphlet stand and back, Capricious’s fins slowly collapsing as she thought. After a moment, she shook her head, her fins rising again as she replied, “No. I’m good.”
He smiled knowingly. “Very well. Take care.”
It was a little awkward carrying both packs on her way to their quarters, but they weren’t really weighing her down. She was content and feeling readier than ever to be on their way.

So now I have another breed change I could use. Really thought about maybe changing Capricious, but then there was really no other breed that I think really suited her or the gene plan I found for her that I like. So instead I just made it the writing inspiration for today.
Not gonna lie though, this entry feels a bit clunky. Might mull it over and clean it up later if I have a chance.

Unhatched Plague Egg
Dragon Eggs
A slimy, writhing pustule, complete with a stench to match. This egg is dangerous, for it incubates a twisted, twitching, virulent creature inside its translucent membranes.

I like that the dragons they're interacting with are aware of what they're doing but also not telling anyone? It is sort of obvious, but I don't know why they aren't outright saying anything. Is there policy against letting dragons leave to make their own clans? Surely not if the shopkeepers are helping them this much... hmm...
I'm hype to see how the outside looks and works!
I love Capricious, they only met a couple days ago, and she's already like 'nah we're a clan now that's off the table' She's a good egg.
Good call on dropping it at Imps, I'm just imagining the page saying, 1 million gems!!!! or just no in block capital letters.

@Weredogalism Oh no, dragons are allowed to come and go as they please and there are a lot of those that just pass on through. More or less it's just because many are curious about their motivations to leave but are unsure if it would be rude to ask since they don't really know them. At worst, some of them just don't care. Nothing more than that though, sorry if I made it sound more ominous than it was!
I know, I'm so attached to that little Fae already, gods help me. And lol, I was literally going down the list of insect eaters in my mind, and when it got to Imps my brain went NOPE so hard. And to hurt myself I did the Forbidden Scry™ and of course she would look gorgeous as an Imp because why wouldn't she but it is not happening.

I don't know why, but Blithe is a lot harder to paint as a Spiral than a Bogsneak. Maybe I should have slept instead of doing this at 3am.

Though many have tried, it is impossible to train a hainu.

Welp. No dragons ready to breed yet and I'm not interesting in breeding Blithe and Capricious together anyway (they barely know each other, calm down there Pinkerton!).
But... this leaves me with a dilemma.
I put in my rules that I would only buy a G1 once a month granted I'm given the right drops/conditions. This was so I wouldn't get dragons too quickly so I'm not scrambling to write them all into the story. This was also assuming found eggs would be hatched for the challenge which I am... not doing. If I were, I would have four dragons instead of two. Passing up a nest is passing up the chance for more dragons, but I want to be picky about who I breed for the sake of it making sense in the story.
However, I'm now itching to get that third dragon just to fill out one team.
So... I've been thinking about possibly upping the number of G1s I can buy to two a month. I wouldn't go any higher than that, and in lieu of getting lucky with familiar drops, it may be the last dragon I get this month.
OR I buy a dragon if I'm able to find a 3rd (4th?) unhatched egg.
Thoughts?

Medium can be played riskier or safer at player preference, so if you feel like you have too many, it could be a good choice to play riskier for a while. Pink can be fickle, who knows how long it'll be until you get another fam, and unhatched eggs are fairly rare, unless you grind for hours a day AND spend all your gathering turns in scavenging.
