On a closer look, Fallon realised there were some symbols etched there. Using one talon to brush away the dust, she finally read it as... rgvpxhG...what was that? Suddenly she recalled a bit of information (she saw the code and the image in a book before and yes I'm just making this part up lol XD) and she knew what to do. Taking some shimmering pinecones, which she found before she got sucked in, she placed them in front of the door in a sort of semi-circle. Taking a step back Fallon decided, just for good luck, that she would mutter the letters inscribed on the face of the door, just in case. It couldn't hurt to be extra careful, one misstep and who knows what would happen?

The ground was rough, but her candles illuminated the way, keeping her from tripping up too badly. When she reached a corridor of doors, she inwardly cringed. This was probably a terrible idea. There was no telling what lay behind those doors. Devious traps and mazes no doubt. The shadowlings were known for their clever pranks and Vespera had become all too well acquainted with their ways. All the same, there was no telling what lay ahead either. Vespera idly tried the nearest knob and felt slightly relieved to find it locked. No traps there. Still, that left her no choice but to continue onwards. She crept down the corridor as quietly as possible till something caught the corner of her eyes. It looked like runes etched on one of the doors. Upon closer inspection, they were completely unintelligible. A code perhaps? Ah, now this is where Vespera's talents lay. She could never resist a good mystery, and after a few minutes of arranging and rearranging the characters, they finally came together into a picture. She smiled a little, thinking how lucky she was to have been foraging in the brambles before finding herself in this dungeon. She put her claw into her bag and pulled out the required items.

The shield held firmly in her grip, as well as the others she'd hastily armored herself in, have fluidly disentangled themselves from her, forming a strange, protective bubble. As a feeling of weightlessness overtakes her, Lieja claws furiously at the barrier, but it's no use. A supremely odd sensation washes through her as Lieja watches the ceiling pass harmlessly through her body (or would it be the other way around?). Shuddering, she barely notices the faint 'pop' sound, though she's acutely aware when she falls to the ground in a crumpled heap, shields strewn all around her. The skydancer picks herself up with a groan, not even surprised to notice yet another unfamiliar room. This one, though, is covered with a generous helping of dust; shaking out her wings disturbs quite a lot of it, sending Lieja into a violent sneezing fit. When the dust finally settles, Lieja notices idly that her feet don't seem to be resting on the ground anymore, then startles as she realizes what, exactly, she had just observed. She whips around to glare at the shields, but they're completely inanimate - they don't even have the audacity to glint innocuously at her. Puzzled, she notices a shimmer on her wing out of the corner of her eye. She inspects it more closely, then groans once more. Not again... Of course it was unicorn dust - the stuff got everywhere, and she was constantly trying to get it off of her. (Who'd ever follow a warrior that constantly glittered?) Still, better to take advantage of it, she supposes. Lieja pushes off of the nearest hard surface and glides steadily down the dusty hallway, at the very least grateful to give her body a break from all the falling she's been doing recently.

A shadow mage dealt in illusions and knew better than to trust in the work of eyes alone. A jolt of pain in one foot told him that his perception was imperfect still. The skydancer started to fall over, then gave an undignified yelp when the ground was swept out from under him. Something lifted him upward and dropped him suddenly in a new room. He hissed and uttered a few choice words about old buildings and loose floorboards. The gembond was thick about his toes, so that any sudden jolt to them hurt terribly. Better to lay where he was for a moment until the throbbing stopped. He watched the dust stirred up by his breath while he waited, of which there was quite a bit, and willed himself to calm down. He had done battle with phantoms, lured wendigoes through bramble patches, and somehow survived every hare-brained scheme his cousin had for adventure. A mere stubbed toe would not get the best of him. With a final huff, Xolot brought himself gingerly back to his feet and began to explore his new surroundings.

[Machine Room]
It's good that you shielded yourself- as soon as you open the door a tingle runs through you and blasts the shield away. Fortunately, you are untouched, if a little tingly still, and can proceed further. Opening the door, you immediately see the cause of the sounds - a machine in the center of the room is etching words into several small amethysts. Looking around, a stack of papers lays on a table next to it. [columns]Rifling through the papers uncovers a lot of bills, some doodles and a scrap of paper with rgvpxhG on it - you can try and analyse it for further clues. Six (6) dragons tried to decode the message.[nextcol]__[nextcol]The machine is etching "Slime Laboratory" into the amethysts; you could use one - while there is a small scale that seems to be weighting the gems, you have 10 Chalcedony in your lair and could quickly exchange it. Three (3) dragons attempted to swap the amethyst for their chalcedony.[nextcol]__[nextcol]If you threw an Even More Beautiful Boulder, you might be able to stun whatever is causing that tingly feeling so you could pass back through the door. Or who knows? Just going through the door might be effective. Two (2) dragons threw the boulder, and none were foolish enough to just try to go back through the door.[/columns]
Dragons who did not armor themselves before passing through the door were not so successful. In an unexpected turn of events, dragons who opted to take the stairs in the dark tripped over their own feet and found themselves in the same situation as the dragons who skipped their shields. [Attic]
Some sort of soft yet unyielding bubble catches you, and propels upwards - once it pops, you are in a dusty room. *sneeze* By the depth of the dust on the floor, no one has walked here for years. As you cannot see any other exit, going deeper along the room seems to be the only way. You can just walk there as the low ceiling prevents flying.Or you can pop back to your lair with that handy amethyst for a batch of Unicorn Dust to gently float along. Fourteen (14) dragons walked and four (4) found a way to float.
[Slime Dungeon]
The floor is really uneven! Fortunately, the candles help and you successfully navigate down. The stairs open into a seemingly endless corridor with both sides lined with dozens of doors. Idly, you try the nearless door - *click*, closed. To one side, the corridors slopes ever so slightly down; important items and treasures are usually kept deeper, so you choose to follow down, perhaps you'll find something. After a brisk walk, your candle illuminates something different: a door has "rgvpxhG" graffitied into it. Perhaps the phrase means something and you could use the information to open the door? Or you could ignore the door and go further. Twenty-five (25) dragons tried to decode the graffitti, and three (3) just kept walking.
To be continued… ----- Below you will find the collection of in-character choices offered by adventurers, in the order described above. Some adventurers included additional lore which will be included in the final event recaps. ----- Decoding the Machine Room
[columns][nextcol]Orpheus was relieved to find a machine on the other side of the door. The scraps of paper caught his attention with the coding in mind he ventured a guess and tossed the items in. The crystals were interesting on the mechanics as it seemed to be the power source. He would have to keep it in mind to pick some up on his way through.

[columns][nextcol]Luna winced as her shield was blasted away, and the now-opened door revealed a strange room with an even stranger machine whirring inside it. She felt a bit foolish for having talked to it. At least no one was around to witness it though. She tossed around some papers that were thrown rather unceremoniously on the floor. Whoever was in charge of running this machine sure was running a hefty electric bill. Oh! one small scrap (that wasn't a bill or doodle) contained a hastily-written code. Convenient, considering Luna's fondness for codes and riddles. It took a few minutes, but she was able to decipher it before long, and with the help of a few simple spells. I suppose this does make sense, considering. She set the code down and went about to fulfill its request.

[columns][nextcol]Belladonna felt as the shields were suddenly sent off of her from the strange energy but found herself untouched. The dragoness smiled slightly the mother of shadows always was full of tricks as she enters spots the machine. She looks over the nearby paperwork "rgvpxhG" the What did that mean she murmurs quietly to herself. It would seem she needed to solved this next riddle.. if she was to press on after searching the room and finding no more clues she returns to the door. After contemplating some more she brings out some items and presents them to the door thinking perhaps these where the right ones.

[columns][nextcol]Honestly, Dusk was this tempted to try and exchange for the amethysts, but he knew he should at least check what the papers said; they could have clues of some sort. Rifling through the papers, he picked found one with a strange code on it. rgvpxhG. Frowning, he stared down at it, trying to make sense of the seemingly random jumble of letters; he's never been good with coding. Grumbling, he looked around for something that might help, and blinked when his eyes fell on what looked like a bunch of strips of paper with coloring on them. Picking them up, he flipped them over and realized that they each had a letter that matched the code. Humming in thought, he set about lining the pieces of paper up in order of the code, and was surprised when he saw that they created a picture of five Shimmering Pinecones. Well, he did have some in his bag as he was going to spend them for the events of Trickmurk, but they must be useful for something... With that in mind, rifled through his pockets, bringing out the five Pinecones.
Swapping out chalcedony
[columns][nextcol]FireCoral squints at the door bringing the candle perilously close then back again. "Hmm" he flicks his goggles down and looks again, then glances over his shoulder. "What do you think? Rana croaks and FireCoral lets out a hissing laugh "I bet you're right." He dips one claw in a vial of serthis poison and traces the letters. Nothing happens and Rana lets out a mournful croak. "Me too. Maybe theres more information further down the hall." Holding tight and his wings out in case he had to fly up and use his bow and arrow, he surveyed the room. He only relaxed when he saw that the noise was the machine, scratching Slime Laboratory into a bunch of amethysts. He searched the room, only finding the code to be of any use, but having no idea how to decipher it. His only other options were to leave or steal an amethyst. I could just swap it out with my Chalcedony, he thought. Maybe the Shadowbinder went this way. Of course, maybe she hadn't he found himself attempting the swap either way. Maybe if whoever owns this space is rich, she can steal something for Malia! She turns her head, eyes ultimately catching on the shining amethyst inscribed with words. Maybe they have some sort of magical properties; the Shadowbinder is a tricky one after all. Hong wouldn't put it past the goopiest of gods to have some sort of trickery embedded in the stones. She reaches for her own stash of shiny rocks and makes the swap.

[columns][nextcol]Sneezing a bit as he shakes off the charred remnants of hastily equipped shields, Galeru looks around the room and spots the engraved amethysts. The door must have been trapped... The ceiling in low enough he has to duck his head to avoid scraping his antlers. They were too often used in horror stories she was told, more often overheard, and she'd begun to associate them with the curses and creatures that she couldn't fight. A little part has broken off but that would grow back in time. She looked along the way. Flying wasn't an option. Unicorn Dust! Her idea seemed brilliant. Excited Farrah turned around to revisit her lair until she remembered something. Oh no. Marigold had just recently used up all the dust just to make her scarfs float. The bubble that had hit Soyonzur had caught her completely unaware. Thankfully Teensy had been right next to her, and had been propelled into this strange, dust filled room with her. She couldn't bear the thought of having possibly lost him into this strange maze of portals and seemingly magical doors. Her sister - bless her - would never let her live it down that she'd somehow lost something as big as a Bouldursa. Teensy sneezed beside her, the dust upsetting his sensitive nose. It wasn't pleasant on her either, but she'd just have to live with it. The thought of upsetting the dust in the room crossed her mind, and the possibility of some other random effect taking place was a bit daunting, but she wasn't going to tempt fate and risk using her own magic to collect some more magic dust to aid her. She'd quite possibly have to leave Teensy behind, and she wasn't at all certain if she'd even make it back to this same room at all. Vespera idly tried the nearest knob and felt slightly relieved to find it locked. No traps there. Still, that left her no choice but to continue onwards. She crept down the corridor as quietly as possible till something caught the corner of her eyes. It looked like runes etched on one of the doors. Adventurers who braved the doors and stairs found themselves in one of three locations: the Machine Room, the Attic, or the Slime Dungeon.
[Machine Room]

Quote:
It's good that you shielded yourself- as soon as you open the door a tingle runs through you and blasts the shield away. Fortunately, you are untouched, if a little tingly still, and can proceed further. Opening the door, you immediately see the cause of the sounds - a machine in the center of the room is etching words into several small amethysts. Looking around, a stack of papers lays on a table next to it.

Rifling through the papers uncovers a lot of bills, some doodles and a scrap of paper with rgvpxhG on it - you can try and analyse it for further clues.

Six (6) dragons tried to decode the message.
__ The machine is etching "Slime Laboratory" into the amethysts; you could use one - while there is a small scale that seems to be weighting the gems, you have 10 Chalcedony in your lair and could quickly exchange it.

Three (3) dragons attempted to swap the amethyst for their chalcedony.
__ If you threw an Even More Beautiful Boulder, you might be able to stun whatever is causing that tingly feeling so you could pass back through the door. Or who knows? Just going through the door might be effective.

Two (2) dragons threw the boulder, and none were foolish enough to just try to go back through the door.

Dragons who did not armor themselves before passing through the door were not so successful. In an unexpected turn of events, dragons who opted to take the stairs in the dark tripped over their own feet and found themselves in the same situation as the dragons who skipped their shields.
[Attic]

Quote:
Some sort of soft yet unyielding bubble catches you, and propels upwards - once it pops, you are in a dusty room. *sneeze* By the depth of the dust on the floor, no one has walked here for years. As you cannot see any other exit, going deeper along the room seems to be the only way.

You can just walk there as the low ceiling prevents flying.Or you can pop back to your lair with that handy amethyst for a batch of Unicorn Dust to gently float along.

Fourteen (14) dragons walked and four (4) found a way to float.

[Slime Dungeon]

v7ehe9g.png
Quote:

Below you will find the collection of in-character choices offered by adventurers, in the order described above. Some adventurers included additional lore which will be included in the final event recaps.

31108249.png Honestly, Dusk was this tempted to try and exchange for the amethysts, but he knew he should at least check what the papers said; they could have clues of some sort.

He searched the room, only finding the code to be of any use, but having no idea how to decipher it. His only other options were to leave or steal an amethyst. I could just swap it out with my Chalcedony, he thought. Maybe the Shadowbinder went this way.

She looked along the way. Flying wasn't an option. Unicorn Dust! Her idea seemed brilliant. Excited Farrah turned around to revisit her lair until she remembered something. Oh no. Marigold had just recently used up all the dust just to make her scarfs float. "She will pay me for this!" hissed Farrah, turned yet again und began to make her way by foot.

And so, bracing herself for the next surprising event, she cautiously began to make her way deeper into the room to see what further investigation of the room might yield.

She considered the letters in silence, thinking back on the runes she used every day to cast the fortune of her clan's various minutiae. Perhaps each letter represented a word in a rhyme, which when worked out would give the way through the locked door? She pulled a piece of paper from her mantle and began to scribble on it, muttering under her breath.

"Read ground very... perspicaciously? no."
"Rather, give voluminous pears... ah, the next one is an x. This isn't working."

She had no idea. Luckily, she had her own methods of getting through locked doors. She pulled five faintly glowing objects from her mantle, piled them carefully against the hinges, and stepped back. She had a feeling they would come in handy this week, and not just for trade. Luckily for her current curiousity, she tended to follow through on her feelings.

Then something catches her eye, the letters across one door. It looks draconian in nature to her, not something one of the beastclans might have left here. "Shadowbinder?" She says aloud, not realizing she actually spoke aloud. A reach out to touch the letters, stops, then decides to risk it and runs her finger across it. Nothing happens, at least not now.

Her fingers do pull back some type of glitter though, and she look at it carefully, rubbing her finger against her other talon to spread it out. This looks like... She pulls her backback off her shoulder and rummages through it. "Aha!" She pulls out a glittering pinecone and runs her fingers across it. The same type of glitter comes off. "Maybe it is a clue." She takes the one pinecone and presses it against the door, nothing happens. Hmm. This isn't legible to me but maybe… She counts the letters and counts 6 letters, she pulls out 6 pinecones. Unfortunately, as she is trying to press the cones to the clue on the door one of them falls to the ground, to which she issues a string of curses in Marenish.
