Time to hatch Niarra and Imane's first nest. Let's see if we get anything even remotely usable. I just want to take a moment to say, these are some [i]shockingly[/i] ugly hatchlings. Wow. Moving on. Unfortunately, they all got crap terts - Ivory and Flaxen across the board, minimum of 6 colors off. Could be worse, but could be better. I'll be replacing Xiu with Aurru as Marion's mate. They've a wider range, of course, but it encapsulates all the desired colors, so it's an improvement all the same. I will be keeping Xiu in hopes of finding him a better mate, though. At least until I run out of lair space and have to exalt him. The other two hatchlings will most likely be exalted once they mature. Sedona has an Obsidian secondary, but other than that, I think they're just too far from the target to be worth searching for mates for.

Spot on for sec and tert, only four off for primary! Looks like Xiu has a new mate already. The other two aren't so bad, but I probably need the lair space more than I really need them. We'll see. It's odd how little Obsidian Striation actually looks like Obsidian. I was sure all of them were way off when I hatched them. Glad I was wrong. Also, they're WAY less ugly than the last nest, haha.

After a bit of thought, I've concluded breeding Pair 1 any further is a waste of time, given I now have several dragons with closer colors. As a result, Niarra and Imane have been retired. Since I can now afford to house another breeding pair, Verin has been rescued from Exalt row and will be paired with Wingsong, a female I picked up on the AH a short while ago. I think they'll still be useful. I'll be looking to replace Pair 3 next, if possible. Possibly looking for a new male for Pair 2 as well.

No telling whether the hatchlings will be any good, but at least we've got potential for variety. Feeling the need to pick up another narrow-down pair. I've cleared a bit of space after completing one breeding project ([url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=47689495]two Sand siblings down![/url] c: ) and exalting a less-useful pair for another. But I've also got some pairs out on rented nests, so realistically I know I have less space than I think...so I'm hesitant.

It's Aurru and Marion's turn to nest for the first time. I have decently high hopes for these two, so fingers crossed. I can only figure it'll go downhill soon enough.

I'm definitely not complaining, but this is kind of weird for me. I suppose three is the most common number, though. Second update is that Nym and Fissure's nest is ready to hatch. I don't know what to do with her just yet, but I'm definitely keeping her around. Don't know about the other two. Mint would be pretty darn good if not for the Ivory tert, but that may do away with his usefulness. He and Nagra will probably be exalted once they grow up. [size=2]Not really relevant, but I forgot just how ugly Light Rare eyes were...ugh.[/size] Unfortunately the market for dragons with even a slightly-decent range for this project has been really bare lately. There's almost nothing of any remote use on the AH at the moment. Hope it won't stay this way for long.

Syka and Mantis are ready to breed. As promised, Syka has been given a breedchange scroll, and is now a Mirror as that was the cheapest scroll on the AH. Their first nest has... Well, clearing enough space for it was something of an ordeal (hatched too many Nocturne eggs, lmao), but it's time to hatch Aurru and Marion's nest. I'll admit these guys looked rather useless from a distance, but they're actually pretty great! Teorah's definitely sticking around - I think the best plan is to put him with Mabon. That'll give me guaranteed X/Obsidian/Saffron hatchlings. And actually, Leoster will make a fine mate for Sorcor! This is a good nest for sure. With this, though, it's time for Nym and Fissure to go. Can't keep this many pairs around. I'm starting to get really concerned about mixing lineages, too - this makes three pairs descended from Nym and Fissure, so none of their offspring will be interbreedable. If I can find more dragons to add into the pool, that's fine, but...well. I just hope I haven't shot myself in the foot. Going by range, it really should be Syka and Mantis next on the chopping block. But I really don't want to get rid of them yet. Just for that sliver of genetic diversity. With any luck they'll give me a hatchling I can pair with Xiu (someday), who is once again mateless.

Against my better judgment, I've picked up another dragon from the AH. One off for both Primary and Tertiary, seven off for Secondary. I've seen her on the AH all week, but I guess I've been ignoring her because I thought she was farther off than she actually is. Anyway, I don't actually have anything to do with her yet. I probably shouldn't have bought her and might end up having to expand my lair. :/ But I'm trying to fight the genetic bottleneck I'm falling into.
