I am terribly prone to impulse purchases- dragons, apparel, raffles..... and this cuts into my potential pool of funds for larger projects when I really need them. Thus I had decided that I was going to do the No Spend-tember challenge that I had heard about a ways back. But.... I knew that 1 month was not really going to make a solid difference in my hoard. So, I looked into another challenge I had seen- a chest-hoarding challenge in which you store all your chests for a year and then open all of them at once! But again, this singular challenge wouldn't make much of a difference (because I am normally not all that great at gaining chests). Thus, I devised a foolproof, assured way of gaining a large store-house of treasure! I just do both challenges at once.... for an entire year! Thus, the No-Spend-Tember EXTREME Challenge was devised. This thread both lays out the limitations I am putting on myself for the coming year, as well as making them public to the community. ;^^ By having to keep track of my progress here, that should give me incentive to work hard and avoid breaking my own rules. If anyone else is interested in keeping up with my progress (or just sending me some much-needed encouragement), feel free to send me a note! I could make a weekly or such progress report showing my gains and plans. Also, it goes without saying- if anyone likes the idea enough to try this challenge on their own (or a similar challenge inspired by mine), then please let me know! I would love to see your progress so that we can commiserate together. X) [u][b]9/11/19 Update:[/b][/u] This has been a hectic summer for me. I have been tied up in work, family matters, and just an overall lack of drive for the game. Suffice it to say, I took a few months pseudo-break from Flight Rising, in which I did little more than hatch nests and gather items each day. Now with fall and the start of school, I am not doing much better. As it would stand, I would only have 2 weeks until the end of the challenge... and I am still quite a ways from my goal. A few months back, I stumbled upon [url=http://www1.flightrising.com/forums/qnc/2583304/1]another savings thread[/url]- a group of like-minded individuals who also were completing a year-long challenge! The only difference- they started on January 1st of 2019, and were finishing on January 1st of 2020. That is a scant 3 months longer than I was originally planning on running my own challenge for, and as such, I eagerly signed up. What is 3 more months? After a tad more deliberating, I decided that I would want to be able to utilize DOM discount once I finish my challenge- and being part of Wind, our guaranteed discount is only another 3 months later, at the end of March for MistJam. That would put my total challenge at 18 months, or 1 1/2 years even. The eveness of the number makes me happy, so that is what I am going with. So, ramble aside to say: This challenge is going to last a little longer than I was initially planning on, with the approximate end date of March 22nd, 2020 (the start of MistJam). [*]Establish a regular deposit schedule, and stick to it. (Deposits happen every Thursday before I post my thread updates.) All applicable items will be deposited at this time. (Sole Exception: I may reserve a maximum of 10g and 15kt in my hoard for the continued purchase of fodder.) [*]No taking any total out of vault, for any circumstances (Use of hoard treasure is permissable for above listed uses and circumstances.) The reason I chose the 24th as my starting date is actually because it is my own birthday~ :D I figured that it would be a ton of fun to have a massive spending spree on my birthday after finishing the challenge, so I set the date based on that.
