TOPIC | [P] Blood Curse (a lorelocke)
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ... 23 24
This is a hybrid Pinkerlocke/Legacy-of-War, created by @fenshae and named by @TheAwesoMew. I'll be doing it on Medium Mode.

What your dragons do each day hinges on what Pinkerton gives you for your daily free item.

-Food Items = Coliseum! The type of food determines the number of rounds. Plants = 10-20, Insects = 20-30, Seafood = 30-40, and Meat = 40-50. You can take as many breaks as you want during the coli spree to regenerate the health of your dragons, and you can use potions without limits, if the in-challenge clan has acquired them throughout the course of the challenge, that is. If a dragon manages to faint in these rounds, they are considered dead and must be exalted! I'll be using a random number generator to pick out the team makeups.

-Materials = Extra Writing! The whole goal of the challenge is to write lore on a daily or near-daily basis, so materials just add some extra! Maybe you write a super long story for the day. Maybe you give one of the challenge dragons a bio. Anything that goes above and beyond the day's normal writing is enough to satisfy this drop!

-Trinkets = Mass-chest opening! Any chests you have, whether sourced from the challenge dragons or not, can be opened to lend their funds and items to the group!

-Apparel = Money day! Anything you sell, whether from the challenge dragons or not, benefits the challenge hoard.

-Familiar = Shopping spree! This is the only time you can buy stuff for the challenge, be it battlestones, genes, or non-Legacy mate dragons. All money you spend on Familiar days must come from the challenge vault.

-Battlestone = Death Streak. This is the drop you want the least, since it has the highest chance of killing off normal Pinkerlocke dergs. Once you get one, flip a coin; you have to complete ten consecutive coli rounds in the venue matching the level of the highest-leveled dragon on the team if you flip HEADS. You can only break if a dragon dies, but you can use as many potions as you have to keep your dragons going. Once you get past the training fields, it is almost impossible to live through this, so you have to hope you can flip tails whenever this rare drop rears its ugly head.

As for money, you use only what you get on mass chest opening days, or get from the coliseum or apparel days. I'll be keeping a separate log of funds so I know how much the dragons can spend.

With that out of the way, feel free to take a look at the cast of characters.

Auria found herself the victim of Adanarox’s latest customer. And instead of obeying the terms, Adanarox’s instincts kicked in. They fled the Shifting Expanse, heading to where they didn’t know. The mage, angered at Adanarox’s actions, cursed the Guardian as he fled, leaving a mark on his leg. One dragon they met didn’t know where they were headed either, but was sure that the answer would come to them in due time. Sakurako and his sister Mercuria had settled at the edge of the Gladewalker’s domain, skirting the boundary between it, the Tangled Wood, and the Sunbeam Ruins. I guess Pinkerton wants to test me today. Today's team is Mercuria, Sakurako, and Adanarox! *Smash Bros Brawl announcer voice* FIGHT!!! ------- The lair was a small cave in the side of a cliff, well hidden by undergrowth and overgrowth alike. A tunnel just wide enough for a larger dragon to fit through opened up into a spacious cavern, a hole in the rock above providing some sunlight during the day while glowworms and phosphorescent water lit up the darker corners. The cave meandered deep down beneath the earth, blocked off for now by Mercuria to avoid problems once the hatchlings arrived. Despite the slightly ramshackle and spartan nature of the cave, everyone agreed that it felt uncommonly cozy. Mercuria stirred as she sensed someone approaching, scanning the treeline from her perch on the rocks above the cave. "It's us." Adanarox set down in the small clearing they'd carved in front of the cave mouth, Sakurako following shortly after. "Look at what we found, sister!" Sakurako said excitedly. From the way he was acting, one would think he'd discovered buried treasure. Mercuria knew better than to assume. "What is it?" she asked. A parchment was shoved into her face. The machines inside her eyes struggled and failed to adjust to the distance, so she took the paper from his claws. "A job!" her brother said, pride oozing from his voice. "And I found it." Behind the proud pink Imperial, Adanarox's eyes rolled. "Good for you," Mercuria said patiently, scanning the parchment. "Clear a path through vermin and beasts to the Viridian Labyrinth . . ." She glanced up at the other two dragons. "I take it you want me to come along?" "He thought you would like to get out of the lair," Adanarox rumbled. "Well, he's not wrong," Mercuria admitted. "I'd hate to leave Auria alone, though." "I'll be fine for a while." Mercuria glanced down, spotting the blue-striped Pearlcatcher beneath her. "It's alright, truly. You can go." "If you say so, Auria." • • • • • The path that they were supposed to clear was quite easy to spot – in fact, the path already existed, and was clearly well-traveled. Even though they'd just gotten there, the dragons could see signs of beasts inhabiting the area. The first hour or so of walking went well, only encountering the occasional cottonmouse. Suddenly, Sakurako spoke up. "I think we need to go this way." Before they could say anything else, the pink-winged dragon had disappeared down a less-traveled path. "Not again," Mercuria sighed, before diving after him. They encountered far more beasts on this path than they had been before. Myth, sparrow, ragepuff, ember rat . . . it was as if the entire forest had turned out to hunt them. After several hours of hunting, the trio found themselves inside a cave, surrounded by dead cottonmice. An exceptionally large specimin lay at their bloody claws. "This one must have been the mother," Adanarox remarked, slumped on the ground. "At least the beasts won't bother travelers anymore," Sakarako said. "They'll have to thank us somehow." "If anyone will be thanking you for anything, it will be us thanking you for getting us lost," Mercuria snapped. "What were you thinking, diving off the path like that?" "It seemed like the right thing to do at the time," her brother responded defensively. "And besides, it all worked out, didn't it?" Mercuria sighed, too weary to argue. "Someday your hunches are going to cost us dearly, brother."
