It was a long journey, and they didn't know when it would end. He had fallen asleep and she wasn't going to let anything happen to him. Afterall, he was her charge. They stumbled across a small clearing in the Lightning territory, each step causing sand to slip in one direction or the other. To her, this place looked perfect. They could start a home here. And so, they did. Slowly, they grew from nothing to a sprawling network of tunnels and caves that housed many dragons. One in particular's name was Mountain. He advised Storm and Thunder in their leadership, though they didn't seem to want to listen. His cavity was covered in books and stones that reflected the little bit of lights from the lamps into patterns onto the ground. On days where he didn't have much to do, he'd rearrange them to see the combinations he could create. Remember him. He'll be important later. As more and more dragons moved in, more and more were born within the clan's walls. She couldn't seem to find the person she wanted to raise children that she so desperately wanted with. She did know that she never wanted to be separated from her sister, however. [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=18237576] [img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/182376/18237576_350.png[/img] [/url] Berry had a love for jewelry and the more expensive side of life. She was extremely close to Mountain due to his rather shiny rock collection. Occasionally, while other dragons would get gifts of books, writings, or rare bugs, Berry would get a gem from Mountain. It might not have been rare or unique, but if it was flashy, she was happier than anyone else in the clan. [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=1884747] [img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/18848/1884747_350.png[/img] [/url] Another one was Genji. He was the main tunneler. He came in from his Water clan one day, every inch of him sizzling. As much as he loved his home territory, it wasn't for him. His burning flesh made every droplet that was near him evaporate. He wanted shelter in exchange for labor. It worked well, and he became a respected tunneler. He even found a lover, and their romance was passionate and long lasting. They even raised children together. He didn't have a knack for listening. When Mountain warned that the ground was too fragile to support another framework of chambers, he didn't heed it. He tunneled down anyway, running into a dark force that couldn't be stopped by only one dragon. They didn't try and fight it. How could they? Instead, they picked up their things and warned everyone to leave as soon as they could. Storm and Thunder were the first to leave, and Mountain was the last. He travelled light, only carrying three things he didn't particularly need: Two precious gems and a book. When he stepped outside, the sky had turned dark and the ground was shaking. He marched onward, alone, away from the place he had lived most of his life. In his journey, he nearly found a place to stay. A welcoming Light clan that seemed friendly enough and a good place to stay. It just wasn't for him, even though it was his original homeland. He kept on walking until he approached a tower submerged into darkness. Twisting vines crept up its side and mushrooms shoved their way through the cracks. He pushed open the front door with a thud, revealing two hatchings, both of their eyes black pits against glowing bodies.

[Center][size=6][color=purple]The Second Stanza [/size] [Color=purple] [I] Upon further inspection, they weren't hatchlings at all, but rather two, small Faes. [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=19319713] [img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/193198/19319713_350.png[/img] [/url] [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=19319736] [img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/193198/19319736_350.png[/img] [/url] They swayed back and forth oddly, eyes dripping a mess onto the floor. As Mountain approached, one of their muscles seemed to flow together like vines creeping across the ground. Her wounds were rather severe, large tears running down her purple wings. The other dragon seemed to be fine, but there was something slightly more unsettling about him. There was blood dripping down his claws and if everything else wasn't a red flag, that was. He could only assume what had happened to them. The one with purple wings fell unconscious after a moment, swaying too far to the side and accidentally touching the blue dragon with her head on the way down. He hissed and jumped backwards, then quickly resumed his blank stare. With tentative steps, Mountain approached the now sleeping one. He picked her up gently, carefully avoiding the on-edge Fae. He saw a door that didn't look like it had been open for ages with dust gathered on the doorknob. He twisted and pushed it open, finding a medium sized room with only one door. He sat down in a corner and held her, swaying gently back and forth. After a time, he noticed that the black drip was becoming more watery. Tears? The dragon opened her eyes, warping from black to purple. She stared up into his eyes, a pained and confused expression on her face. Her eyes shot closed and when they reopened, they were once again black holes. He tried to take a moment to process what he saw, though it was cut short by clawing at the door he was in. The doorknob turned to open and both of the Faes lunged to attack him. He curled his wings around himself, shielding his body and face from their claws. His back and legs were still exposed, however, leaving a large, discolored scar. There wasn't anywhere to run, so he stood there with his wings at attention and cuts burning. They stopped after a moment and resumed their doll-like poses, swaying gently. She was conscious now, and her eyes lost their rich purple they held for only a moment. He knew what this was. This was the same thing that tore him from his home in the Lightning territory. It was killing them, and he knew it. Shaken and tired, he stepped outside of the abandoned tower. Something beside him shifted. Figuring it was a prey animal, he paid no attention. It began spriting towards him and he tried taking off in the other direction. It was much bigger than him, and it caught him by the hide and swung him around with it's hand over his mouth. His frantic eyes flickered back in forth as she held her other hand against his throat. She stared at him, as if looking for something. She eased her grip on his face but held him still with her presence. "How did you find this place?" she asked, her voice less fierce. He wasn't Shade infected. "I'm looking for a clan," he said softly. She cocked her head. "How are you not dead?" she asked. He gave her a confused look, and so she elaborated with a roll of her eyes. "There are two Shade infected dragons in there. They are trained fighters and have been sent to war every day since they matured. They haven't died. They haven't failed in killing a dragon, no matter their size." "I don't know," he responded earnestly.

A fireborn with eyes of glowing red, bred to serve and fight for his cause- Or so he thought. He grew to his full size, powerful guardian. Not only that, but he was trained to fight among the best of his clan (though, they never seemed to pay attention to him). He watched, one by one, as more hatchlings entered the clan as he did. He also watched some adults welcomed into the clan from homes that could hold them no longer. Most dragons, beautiful and elegant, were given names in an official ceremony as though the name was a true gift. He wasn't the most attractive, or most expensive, but that never phased him. He would be the strongest warrior that would ever serve his flight! He waited days and days for the name he never seemed to receive. The only name he got was merely a nickname- Fodder. For the longest time, he really just thought it was a nickname. But, at a relatively low level, his training ended. And he was sold. He was sold to a clan that treated him much the same. No longer was he to defend his fierce Fire clan- No, now he was set to a Shadow lair, faced with adult dragons that never paid attention to him. He longed for the apparel that dragons much less attractive then him boasted, or the stones that dragons of a level no higher than his used, or a life-long friend that all the other dragons seemed to have. With a name not presented to him but forced, and a clan that was not his own, he was sent to fight for a deity that was not his. Now he sits, doomed, up top a pillar of swirling, nasty vines that try to crawl up his legs and arms with every passing day. This was not his story, not how it should have ended; But he never really got a choice. With his eyes of fire red and a heart of empty dust, he stared across the expanse of eternity that he now faced. And if he strained his eyes, just a little, he swore he could see the blazing lava and shimmering flame where he belonged.
