Hello, Emmie! Thanks for the support. Aha, I'm happy people are taking interest in this little quest of mine. Congrats on finding your first Light Sprite!

I don't consider geneing the dragons cheating, per say, but it's the only practical way for me because I... am poor. Did I say I had 381 gems? That's down to 363, because buying Brightbolt ate 20 of them. I don't think 363 is too bad, but it's quite a ways from 7800. Since even getting one of the genes I need on my pair will save me thousands, I'm sure it'll be worth the effort, even though it'll be more challenging.

Little update!

I've decided that it would be best to breed my pair and gene the dragons afterwards. It will be a lot more expensive, but to be honest, I think making it a little bit easier on myself will help me keep motivation to keep this little quest going.

I have Brightbolt and Auris on a nest, but unfortunately I won't be able to hatch them for a while because boarding for WvW ate up my lair space. ^^'

Good luck on your very shiny project! And as a bonus, enjoy my sunny project - took me well over a year to get her. Are there any shiny hatchlings to enjoy yet?

@Yanisha Thank you for the well wishes! Solaria is a beautiful sunny dragon. ^^ I have two eggs ready to hatch, and I just bought a new hatchling as Hornet's future match, though unfortunately I haven't been able to hatch any eggs just yet because I'm really low on lair space. Not terrible odds for my second nest. ^^

@Venusian
I'm having a look through all the other FHC progress posts since I just signed up for the Augite Protector and created my own. You look like you've got off to a great start!
It's certainly been daunting when calculating out the odds of any pair breeding the correct colour, let alone the wanted genes. You could maybe pick just one gene to breed in (whichever is easiest to find) that why you will save at least some of the cost.

I've subbed to follow along, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that your dragons give you the results you want :)

Thanks, Sachqua - that's good advice. ^^ I'm trying to save up for other things, so I'm kind of dreading geneing these little guys. Trying to get a gene or two on them would be a good compromise! I finally found the lair space to hatch Brightbolt and Auris' nest - here are their hatchlings! He's had four eggs, so I might get lucky and find one of the dragons I'm looking for!

Good news! Hornet and Caodai's nest hatched today, these are their hatchlings! I may still try to breed another boy with more of the genes I'm looking for, since I'll need to gene these guys from scratch, but I'm thrilled that I have half of my pair. ^^

Congrats!
Trying to save money on genes is never a bad thing, but at least you know you have a backup :)
