One such card is [url=https://www.biddytarot.com/tarot-card-meanings/major-arcana/wheel-of-fortune/]the Wheel of Fortune[/url], a card that represents luck, fate, and the cycles of life. [img]https://www.biddytarot.com/cards/wheel_of_fortune.jpg[/img] Because of the luck and fate attributes of the symbolism behind this card, I wanted to randomize the dragon I get to some degree, but I also didn't want to end up with a dragon that was so randomized that I hated it. Thus I toiled over exactly what to do until finally I figured out the absolute perfect plan: @justjasper's [url=http://www1.flightrising.com/forums/qnc/1021864#post_1021864]Legacy Challenge[/url]. What better challenge for the Wheel a Fortune card than a challenge literally based on the cycles of life, luck, and fate? [size=4][b]PERSONAL RULES & RESTRICTIONS[/b][/size] [LIST] [*] [b]No scrolling[/b]: no breed change, no scatter, no gening, no removing genes, no maturity scrolls. {Renaming scrolls are an exception to this rule} [*] Cannot use dragons that have been won, gifted to me, or bred from another pair as a mate for one of my heirs - I must purchase them. [*] Points for hatchlings can only be counted for the clutch the heir was in - I can’t breed my first pair again and count their offspring as points towards my legacy score. [*] [b]Patriarchy.[/b] [s]Depending on how satisfying the results of this challenge are, I'm thinking I may do it again with a Matriarchy restriction in order to breed for this guy's mate.[/s] Changed this rule so it only applies to the final dragon I choose to keep as the dragon I'm breeding for. [*] [b]Ridgeback only.[/b] [s]Ridgebacks (especially ridgeboys with their cute little snoots) are my favorite breed on FR, and I don't have very many of them in my lair, so I figured this would be a fun added restriction to further ensure I get a derg I love in the end.[/s] Nevermind; I'd rather gene up a dragon I'm happy with the colors of than I would be stuck with a ridgeboy I only kinda like. I'd like for him to have Underbelly or Glimmer, ideally with a primary gene that comes with some secondary color attributes (ex. Poison, Skink, possibly even Jaguar) and a bright, eye-searing primary color (ex. Cyan, Radioactive, Fuchsia). In lieu of full transparency, this goal was decided [i]after[/i] picking my founder based on his colors and the direction I realistically could take them (while still maintaining a level of challenge) during breeding. I didn't have any eggs and didn't want to spend the money to buy one, so I opted to just get the cheapest gen1 on the AH that fit the founder requirements of the challenge. I hate mirrors. [center][size=5][b]FIRST NEST[/b][/size] I plopped the two on a nest today after clearing some space in my lair to hatch a nest and clear the nesting space for this duo. They've graced me with a 3 egg nest, and after scrolling through a couple of previews, I am excited to see what colors comes of the babs that hatch c: [img]http://flightrising.com/images/nests/6/3healthy_0dead.png[/img] *crosses fingers that there's at least a couple males to choose from* Also, I forgot to mention that I named my founder Fortune and his mate Fortunette. I will be naming all of the babs that come from this something to do with the Wheel of Fortune card, and/or renaming them these exact names, just so that the parents of my Wheel of Fortune card have names that apply to the card itself. I'll update again when the babs hatch. If you're interested in being pinged when I hatch the babs as well as future babs from this project, let me know! I plan to put all babies on the AH for at least 5-7 days to allow them to grow up before I level and exalt them, though any particularly pretty babies will probably remain in the AH for a couple of weeks at least. [center][size=5][b]SECOND GENERATION[/b][/size] !!!!!!! Omg! Omg omg omg!!! I have exciting news! So I finally made the room in my lair to hatch my first nest with the second generation in this challenge, and LOOK AT MY BEAUTIFUL BABY BOY'S EYEBALLS. LOOK AT 'EM. I'm so excited in fact that I plan to keep this little dude beyond the challenge c: I've named him Fortunate, and he's going to be my very first perma-baby as soon as he's served his purpose~ Gah, couldn't be more pleased with this nest <3 ...see, but there is a little issue... His nest was hatched [i]waaaay[/i] past my bedtime, so I got too excited and I accidentally already applied the perma-baby scroll to him without thinking sooooo... yeah. I gotta get a scroll of maturity, then I can breed him, then I'll have get another scroll of eternal youth XD Whoops! Anyhoo my heir also had 2 sisters that are available on the AH for cheap. [center][size=5][b]SECOND GENERATION[/b][/size] So on the one hand, I got lucky enough to hatch 2 lovely ridgebacks. On the other hand, the only boys I hatched were the 2 Mirrors. Worse yet, the Mirror have tertiary colors further from what I'm looking to breed for than the gals, so it's not even just a breed issue, it's a color issue too! Thinking it over, I decided that since this is [b]my [/b]breeding challenge, and since it was a rule [b]I[/b] personally created, I'm going to nix the patriarchy rule until the bab I intend to keep comes along, considering I just need a male at the [i]end [/i]of all this and not right this very moment. I'm looking to breed the dragon I want significantly more than I'm looking to earn any points or complete a challenge to a T or anything, and that rule just seems to serve no practical purpose beyond challenge within the game itself, so yeah, I just felt it more appropriate to apply much like I've applied the Ridgeback rule - a rule for the dragon I hatch as a keeper, not a rule for each generation. Super sorry if this comes as a disappointment or seems cheaty by any means - I am still following all the other rules as originally planned! [center][size=5][b]FOURTH GENERATION & NEST[/b][/size] The girl that hatched from the nest was actually quite lovely. His colors, however, suit my needs, and the likelihood of his genes passing on is so absurdly low that I don't even know why I'm complaining lolz He came with the name Ceiro, and I decided that I'm not going to rename him just yet, possibly not at all. Much like with the dragon I got before with the name Leaf, it'll just depend on how much I care to splurge on the scroll over a name that won't matter [i]that[/i] much at the end of the day *shrugs* I'll figure it out later. Not 100% sure, but I'll figure it out once I get to gen 10 and see where I'm at. [center][size=5][b]FIFTH GENERATION[/b][/size] So I hatched 4 dragons this round, and only one of them turned out to inheret the black tertiary color - the rest were all XYY obsidian. Luckily for me, this one is the brightest color in the bunch too! I've already leveled and exalted the parents, but not before renaming Cerio to Fate. I would absolutely accept a dragon with x/eldritch/black instead of an XYY, if that's what ends up happening in the tenth generation, but ideally I would prefer XYY Eldritch if I can swing the range that direction. I'll have to judge how feasible this is depending on my heir and what mates are available at that time. For now, this is their range: [img]https://i.imgur.com/WbxSxHS.png[/img] I admit I'm a little disappointed that it's got more darker blues than lighter blues, but I'm not too worried about that - there are colors in there that I can settle for if I have any trouble swinging it back towards Cyan by gen 10. [center][size=5][b]FIFTH NEST[/b][/size] We're coming up on the 6th generation, and I get wegged [i]again[/i]. [img]http://flightrising.com/images/nests/6/1healthy_0dead.png[/img] Despite my 5th nest not being so lucky, 6 is my lucky number, so I've got a good feeling about this egg despite there being only one. Fingers crossed tightly! lolz The range is a tid-bit wide, but depending on which primary color the hatchling comes out as, I already have plans for which colors I'll be directing the 6th into 7th generation. In order of preference, the colors I will find acceptable for the final dragon: [b]PRIMARY[/b]: Cyan, Cerulean, Caribbean, Ultramarine, or Lapis ...and the direction I intend to go in depending on the results of this hatch: [b]SEC & TERT[/b]: Eldritch // Black [u]or[/u] Black // Black ttfn~
