The sun set long ago as you wind your way through the dense underbrush of the Shrieking Wilds. Leaves and bushes rustle all around you, setting your nerves on edge. You approach the mouth of a dark cave with smoke filtering out of among the trees and floating towards the dark, starlight sky. A Tundra appears at the cave mouth, green eyes reflecting the weak light around you both. “Greetings,” she dips her head in acknowledgement. “We are glad you have come. My name is Abriella, I am Almasi and Honeypaw’s apprentice. Please, come in.” She turns her back to you and enters the cave, disappearing back into the darkness.
As you enter the cave the strong scents of incense waft around you, bright pine and deep sandalwood entwining their way through the thick air. Once you are fully immersed in deep into the mountain you see two dragons bent over an old wooden table, books and candles spread out in seemingly no perceivable order. The guardian, Honeypaw, lifts her head to gaze at you. The pearlcatcher, Almasi, remains focused on her notes.
“Thank you for coming." She takes a step towards you, wrapping her tail around her feet as she settles in. "I am sure by now you have seen these...creatures...that have been appearing in the Labyrinth." Almasi looks up from her notes, looking down her nose at Honeypaw.
"Not just the Labyrinth, all over." Honeypaw nods, redirecting her gaze back to you. "That is why we have asked you here." She looks at you, eyes piercing.
"We need your help to catalog these new creatures that have been appearing all over Sornieth.” Honeypaw strode over to Almasi, gesturing to the notes spread out on the table. “If you are so willing, we need you to go out into the wilds and bring back notes on what you find.” She pads over to an ancient bookshelf built into the cave itself. “We will catalog them here so we can spread the knowledge throughout the land.”
Almasi finally meets your gaze, shoving off gemstones and leaves from a blank notebook. "Take this, go into the Labyrinth and beyond and bring back what you see." She hands you the notebook, and you accept.
