Arrived at investigation site early, only other activity in the area was a mirror named Odessa, the founder of the Spectral Zoologists. She is a scientist as well - she should not cause any trouble to my investigation, and perhaps we may be of aid to each other.
The site was contaminated beyond repair from the frantic activity I'm told followed the encounter. Unfortunately, most of the reports contained little detail of the sighting - just a rehash of what rumours I'd already heard. The river was central to this incident, so I must start here regardless of the damage.
Chaotic footprints filled the banks from many a dragon and hatchling, perhaps even a few birds (webwings? They often flit between meadow and water), fauna as expected - largely grass, with small clumps of violets dotting the riverbank. I combed the trees that grow over the river. Surely any beast of the air would use them as a perch. Claw marks - too big to be webwings, but the right size to match scrambling hatchlings - or a strange creature. Too hard to make a call. I collected branches to be examined.
In the water, many pygmy wrasse, who take advantage of the river's slow current and moderate temperatures. No tracks here, but of course not - for swimming creatures do not any. Even the imprints left by Odessa's exploration were filled sand swept up in the current.
In short: nothing out of the ordinary, though I could not venture across, nor up or downstream without more equipment. However, the reports indicate that this was the site of an encounter with a creature beyond our ken. With a larger team and proper assistance, I will continue this search and see where it leads.

My traveling siblings are most likely to end up in this mess, as long as it doesn't interfere with Birch's star-charting then she'd be eager to join in, and her brother follows as well.
