Where dragons look like... a garden? Curiosity piqued, you hasten onwards, though not without caution - the Labyrinth is a treacherous place for the oblivious. The sounds are close now. Pushing aside a branch you brace yourself to meet a wild beast, and instead find yourself face to face with a young Guardian standing on his tiptoes in the middle of a tiny stone-walled garden. If you have never seen a adolescent Guardian trying to balance on his clumsy, gargantuan clawtips, it is not a sight to be missed. Indeed it’s a hard job not to sit down holding your sides, thanks to the comical expression of pure terror on his face - of you! When he sees his “enemy”, he lets out an exhale of relief and sags back down with a crunch of vegetation. You wince, and he moans. “Oh dear. Not again.” “What do you mean not again?” Lugubrious, he gestures at the garden around him. Not a flower remains upright, not a stem unbent. Marks of over-large feet and ungainly tail cover the ground, around and over the foliage. “My name is Jasper and just look at how I’ve been taking care of them so far,” he laments. “Some Guardian who steps on his Charges every other minute.” “Your Charges?” “I protect gardens, but I’m not doing a very good job of it. In fact, I’m downright terrible. Not to mention the monsters that rush through and make it even worse.” A little disconcerted, you scratch your head. “Have you … ever tried practicing a little martial arts?” “No. All I know is gardening, and I can’t do that, either.” Jasper puts his chin on his paws, causing another miniature earthquake as plants topple around him. His despondency (and to a lesser extent, the botanical destruction) is more than you can stand. “How about a fair trade?
