Dragon species does not matter since all dragons are vulnerable to the shadecurse - you are welcome to breed-change your dragons when you get them. However, to be a registered Shadecursed dragon they must have a bloodline relation to my breeding pair, Slael and Mordack, and the nest must be hatched on the date of a new moon, nighttime, a severe weather event, lunar eclipse, or solar eclipse.
There is no fee to adopt a Shadecursed dragon. However you will need to rely on your luck to see how the curse will affect your clan.
You only get one re-roll allowed for your challenge so read the penalties carefully! If you feel that even after using your re-roll that you cannot complete the challenge, you can either give the cursed dragon back or you can keep it and donate 30k treasure to the subspecies fund.
Use a Random Number Generator set for 1 - 6 or a six-sided die to learn which curse your new dragon carries.

If you get #1: Your dragons are now infertile. Use the Random Number Generator again set at 5-30, or roll a six-sided die and multiply your result by 5. The number you get is the number of FR days, (Aka rollovers) you must wait before hatching any nests.
- For hardcore mode don't place any dragons on nests or incubate eggs during this time period either, and all eggs found through scavenging or chance must be sold or given away.
If you get #2: A famine sweeps over your territory. Use the Random Number Generator again set at 5-30, or roll a six-sided die and multiply your result by 5. The number you get is the number of FR days, (Aka rollovers) you must wait before feeding your dragons.
- For hardcore mode do not gather any food items, or convert any food items obtained through coli grinding or chance during this time period. All food items obtained must be hoard-sold or given away.
If you get #3: Your familiars catch a contagious illness. Use a Random Number Generator set for 1-6 or a six-sided die. The number you get is how many of your familiars you must sell, give away, or use as Baldwin fodder.
- For hardcore mode only get rid of currently equipped familiars.
If you get #4: A swarm of moths eats your linens. Use a Random Number Generator set for 1 - x (x = Your total number of non-fodder dragons). The number you get equals the dragon sitting in that number slot, counting from your first dragon on page 1.
If you are rolling a six-sided die - roll once to choose a lair page. (If you have less than 6 pages of non-fodder dragons than any number higher than your number of pages will mean that you choose your last page. Example: 3 pages with a roll that equals 5 means that you use page 3.) Next roll to choose the row on your selected page. Since there are 4 rows, if you roll a 5 that will equal row four, but if you roll a 6 that will equal row 1. Then lastly roll to choose the dragon in your selected row.
The selected dragon loses all their apparel, and you must hoard-sell, give away, or throw all these items into Baldwin's pot.
- For hardcore mode your dragon will also lose any equipped skins/accents and they must be sold or given away.
If you get #5: A corrosive fog fills your vault Use a Random Number Generator set for 1-6 or a six-sided die. The number you get is how many full stacks (Or equal to 99) of items you must give away. Do not sell or brew these items and give them to a friend or donate them to your flight's Dom efforts.
- For hardcore mode multiply the number you get from RNG or your die by 3 to find out how many stacks you lose.
If you get #6: Your experienced warriors are too injured to fight. Use a Random Number Generator set for 1-6 or a six-sided die. Multiply the number you get by 5, and that will equal the number of FR days (Aka rollovers) that you can only use dragons with no equipped battlestones (aside from their two default stones) to fight in coli. Also you cannot change their default stones to another type of default battlestone. Example: You cannot equip scratch on a dragon that has meditate to change it to a melee fighter.
- For hardcore mode you also must fight only in venues rated at a difficulty level of 2 levels above your highest level dragon in your coli party.
