[center][b]Alpine Skiing - Slalom[/b] [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=2386083] [img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/23861/2386083_350.png[/img] [/url][/center] Caitlin could barely contain herself as she eyed the course with obvious glee. She hadn't participated in a competition in ages, not since she moved to the Starfall Isles. She had manged to get some practice in over the last couple months, but she didn't think she would win. It had been to long since she had had regular practice. She race to the staring line when she heard her name called. Win or lose, she would have fun with this.

[center][b]Speed Skating[/b] [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=260900] [img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/2610/260900_350.png[/img] [/url][/center] Sapphire had not originally planned to attend the Gala, but Hinata had wanted someone to go with and had asked Sapphire to come with. It had been awhile since they had done something fun together, so she agreed. ....There was a reason for that though.... They had only been at the Gala for a few hours and yet they had already been thrown out of three different place for being WAY too rowdy. After braking something expensive at the third location, they decided to split up for the remainder of the Gala. Without someone else like Ria with them to be the voice of reason, they tended to get in to far too much trouble when together. Sapphire wander on her own for awhile until she arrived at the area that the Winter Games were being held. Seeing a sign for speed skating she decided to sign up. Now at the starting line, she waited for the signal to go. It was time to brake some records, or some of her bones. Whatever seems most convenient.

[center][b]Luge (Sledding)[/b] [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=23891076] [img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/238911/23891076_350.png[/img] [/url][/center] Apricity pushed her sled up to the starting point, taking a moment to check it over for any damage. She knew that the staff had already done so, but it never hurt to double check these things. She unbuckled her sword and handed it to one of the staff for safe keeping along with her headpiece. Taking the pair of goggles offered in return, she boarded her sled and waited for the signal to start. (Sorry for throwing all my entries at you last minute.)

[b]Alpine Skiing[/b] [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=19320158] [img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/193202/19320158_350.png[/img] [/url] Saria wanted to try something different this year so she decided to try alpine skiing. This was an intense sport but somehow she felt at ease going back and forth in a zig zag like pattern between the gates. She loved the wind blowing past her and the speed and skill it took. What fun! [b]Cross-Country skiing[/b] [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=12642898] [img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/126429/12642898_350.png[/img] [/url] Raymond enjoyed cross country skiing and the rhythm of the skis. [i]shh shh shh[/i]. What a pleasant sound! The trees look white and besides the other skiers there is a calm silence on the track. The snow fell softly as he fell into a good fast rhythm keeping his long legs moving and sounding out his own "music". She loved speed and loved everything fast. When she heard about the Winter Games the only word she neede to hear was: "Speed." Strapping on skates she found she had a talent. Practicing wasn't without peril though because she was thinking faster than her feet at times. However, as soon as her feet caught up with her, there was just no stopping!

This year kept us busy with the carnival activities in addition to the Winter Games. However, we do have our first event to annouce! All of the winning dragons did their runs later in the week, with two on the final day, so it seems waiting this year may have led to a bit faster snow.[/size] [/columns] [columns] [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=7165160][img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/avatars/71652/7165160.png[/img][/url][nextcol][size=4]I always find the results very exciting to share! The results here are interesting - all the medals were won by returning clans. I believe this was the first year entering the Winter Games for our Gold medalist, but the Silver and Bronze medalists both competed last year, but in different events![/size] [/columns] [columns] [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=8023219][img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/avatars/80233/8023219.png[/img][/url][nextcol][size=4]Switching was clearly the right decision for our Bronze medalist, Caitlin, who competed in the Luge last year without placing. But Saria actually medaled in Ski Jumping last year, so it's a bit of a surprise to see her here and doing so well. Clearly a good decision, however. Also, thank you very much for running this event again - it was a lot of fun to imagine my dragons taking part (and spectating!). I'll look forward to seeing the rest of the results as they appear. ^-^

Eee, I can't believe Mesmer got the gold in alpine skiing! It's kinda hilarious that I mentioned he'd only been practicing for a couple hours beforehand. :'D I guess he's just a natural!
