12. It's not all tree-hugging! For five points in the raffle, what dragons in your clan just really aren't fussed about nature, whether it's a dislike of getting muddy or just being a big fan of technology?
I think I have already mentioned Lucy, one of several scientist. Though Lucy archives too. there are a few inventors, alchemists, stargazers, and some that are just too troubled to be fussed about much really .
But this is Vega #18753141 , she's not quite sure the world is real, so she's a bit guarded about going out and exploring it.
22. Short story. Write a short story of at least 100 words, using the following words: 'nature', 'grow', a kind of plant, a kind of animal, and a colour. Bold your choices! (10 points)
I'm incapable of writing anything short, sob. Sorry! Also, I didn't bold the plants, because, er, there's rather a lot of them, it would've practically been two paragraphs of bold :') Hope this isn't too morbid. Also didn't bold black and white because technically they're not colours ;)

I danced.
I had waited for this night, those precious minutes between October and November; Samhain, when nature was on my side, when the odds of my ritual's success would be the highest.
The circle in front of me consisted of black and white crystals--life and death, one after another, placed with such perfect care it had taken the majority of the afternoon to lay them.
Mandrake, both its roots and its flowers, made up the majority of the inner circle that was spread around the round, flat stone in its midst, with a thick layer of Sage on top. Hawthorn had been carefully strewn on that, as well as a small amount of White Heather and Purple Coneflower. After a lot of hesitation, I had meticulously placed a handful of sweet peas amongst the flowers, as well. Briefly, I'd considered if I'd overdone it, but swiftly dismissed the notion; it was the end-purpose of my ritual, after all, the outer side for the summoning itself.
There, I had laid a base layer of Camellia and Alstroemeria, placed Euphorbia, some Fern, and overlaid it with grass, just to be certain. Finally, some Hyssop, to ward away the possibility of my summoning evil spirits instead of Her, and I had deemed it finished.
My heart beat faster in a way that had nothing to do with my relentless dancing.
What if it failed? What if She deigned this beneath her? What if--
No. I couldn't think like that. The only way the ritual would work is if I had full confidence in it.
I briefly paused, took a deep, cleansing breath, feeling the grass underneath my toes, then resumed my movements.
"Bastet, Goddess of protection; women; dance; warfare: I call upon You, submit myself to You, on this night, pleading for Your aid."
I murmured the words, over and over, trying not to get out of breath as I continued my dance, and failing. Again and again they left my lips, a cramp in my side soon emerging, but I ignored it, though the words were soon reduced to mere whispers on the wind.
The first raindrop that hit my skin made a smile appear on my face. I closed my eyes and tilted my head up towards the sky as thunder struck, unafraid. The more I twirled around, the more the thunderstrikes seemed to increase in frequency, and I had the peculiar sense that was a good sign.
Despite telling myself not to grow impatient, I dared to peek underneath my lashes. For a moment, my heart sunk, as I saw nothing--then it seemed to stop entirely.
A cat, so dark as to almost melt into the night entirely, was sitting with all the regal bearing of a Queen on the flat rock I had designed for Her, watching me with eyes far older than anything I had ever seen before. They held great wisdom and care, yet also a warning.
I heeded it and kept dancing, my mouth slightly open despite the fact that there were no longer whispers leaving my mouth. The dizzying realization that I had succeeded ran through me and almost made me topple over, but I continued.
He would never forgive me for this.
I smiled once more. That was alright. For this, I would sacrifice anything. Anyone.
On one of my body's twirls, which were gradually growing less steady as time went on, She locked eyes with me. I instantly froze, as if by command. She inclined the cat's head, permitting me to come inside the circle--Her circle, now.
Seemingly not one to waste time, She leapt into the surrounding flowers and looked at me expectantly. Instinctively, I kneeled before her, knowing what was expected of me. With care, I laid myself back on my carefully placed plants and flowers, my head on the cold, hard stone, and stared up at the star-studded sky, ignoring the occasional drop of rain that fell into my eyes.
I was strangely calm, even as She hopped onto my chest and padded the cat's way to my head. Her eyes bored into mine, searching. My blood froze in my veins at such intimate contact with one so much greater than myself, but I did not look away. Perhaps it was this particular night, perhaps the mood, but I almost imagined I could see entire universes in Her eyes. Again, She inclined the cat's head, seemingly satisfied with whatever She had been looking for, and again, I felt calm, relief, even, instead of fear.
The cat slid off my chest, and laid Herself beside my neck. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see a single paw being raised, with a single razor-sharp nail unsheathed like a scimitar. I couldn't help but swallow.
It was time.
I didn't feel it, at first, so swiftly had She sliced my jugular. It was the steady pulsing a few seconds after, the sensation of being drained, of a cat's mouth against the deep cut--far too deep for a common feline to make--greedily drinking my blood that told me I was dying.
I was dying.
I'd known this, had planned for this, but the irrefutable, irreversible knowledge nevertheless planted the first true seed of fear within my chest. I gasped for breath, clenching my fists against the pain, but made no efforts to resist.
Moisture started to gather at the corners of my eyes, and I clenched them shut. I didn't want to die a weeping mess.
No, I knew what I wanted my last though to be about, and I focused as much as my quickly-diminishing energy allowed, even as the picture in front of my mental eye was gradually fading. Mere minutes later, as I mercifully blacked out, I felt no regret.
The blood that She had failed to consume spread quickly in a perfect circle, yet none of it leaked out from between the stones. The cat hopped onto the gems, and stretched Her long body. She made a leisurely tour on the circle, paws leaving red prints behind, Her head angled towards the sky, never flinching no matter how hard the thunder struck. When it was complete, She took one last look at the body, then deeply inclined Her head.
As if struck by the rapidly abating thunderstorm, the cat seemed to have a small seizure, which ended as abruptly as it had started. The cat tilted her head, looking around herself with a soft mrow. She hardly spared the body near her a glance, far too busy licking the blood off of her paws and fur. Once finished, she let out an elaborate yawn, and her ears perked as the sound of a prey reached her ears. Leaping into the long grass, the cat snuck off towards the forest, leaving behind what would later be deemed 'an occult-inspired murder'.
At the same time, somewhere, several dozen kilometers away, a young man awoke from his five-year-long coma.

I hope this is enough description of the environment and not too much story-ish things.

The low dip in the ground was unexpected, and made her gracelessly tumble into the creek, the shallow water failing to protect her from making a painful landing on the bedding littered with pebbles. The hatchling fell back on her butt with a loud splash, sputtering to get the water out of her beak. She gasped for air, the sudden cold of the water such a contrast with the usual heat of the Ashfall Waste.
But it faded in seconds, the water turning into a soothing balm that seeped into her very bones, and the little Snapper splashed around in it gleefully at the novelty of it, soaking her face and drinking until her lungs felt about to burst.
The hatchling surfaced only briefly, almost instantly dipping her face in the creek again. Through the crystal clear water that gently rippled around her she could see the tiniest of pebbles, the thinnest blades of grass growing in-between them. It continued on in front of her as far as she could see, widening as bamboo sprouted at its edges and dipping down a good few dozen meters ahead, leading away from the barren forest to her right at a spot a lot further than where she'd originally come from. To her left--
Oh.
An enormous expanse of water filled her field of view. There seemed to be no end to it, though it teemed with life as far as she could see, even with her newborn eyes. Birds circling far above, occasionally diving down for food, critters crawling on the sand, glimpses of beasts unknown to her breaking the surface once in a while. Yet the sea itself seemed almost deadly calm; she could see no rushing waves, no currents. No wonder she hadn't heard it.
Only a few kilometres of downward sloping grassy hills, filled with berry-laden bushes and trees the likes of which she'd never seen before at home, trees with actual leaves, that grudgingly turned into grind, then sand, separated her from the seemingly endless sea, and the little Snapper had to restrain herself from running full-trot towards it. She didn't want to get lost, after all.
"Spright!"
The little hatchling squeaked and ducked behind one of the many large boulders that littered around the plain at the sound of her mother's voice, but it was far too late. Within seconds, the thundering footsteps were next to her, and she couldn't help but shrink a little as she looked up at the large, blue Snapper ('We match, mommy! We match with the sea!') that was currently glaring down her nose at her.
Before she could so much as say anything in her defense, her mother picked Spright up gently yet firmly by her neck. "What were you thinking, running off like that?! Your father and I were worried sick! This is the domain of the Windsinger, and you almost crossed into Tidelord territory as well, did you even--"
Leave it to her mother to be able to coherently ramble while she had a beakful of rebellious daughter to carry. Spright tuned out the rest of her mother's lecture with a sigh, taking a last peek at the beautiful water she probably wouldn't be seeing again for a long while.

Fun facts about cats and their breeding habits!
Females which who are sexually mature (which the average breed reaches between 7 and 12 months) go in and out of heat every 21 days from around early Spring to Fall, depending on climate and location. When she's in heat, her meowing will increase or even turn to yowling as if in pain; she'll attempt to get outside to try to find a mate; affectionate behaviours towards her humans, often headbutting and/or rolling around on the floor; and of course the infamous presenting position, where she has her head down, forelegs bent and tail to the side to expose as much of her vulva as possible (this position is also called 'lordosis').
If a tomcat mounts a female, he'll gently sink his teeth in her neck to keep her in place--scientists have also speculated it stimulates the female to ovulate, since they don't actually ovulate until actually mating. One of my favourite and most wince-worthy facts: male cats have barbed penises! It's believed this also stimulates ovulation, but could also help with the whole holding-in-place thing--upon withdrawal, the female has a tendency to scream. Rather understandable. Poor thing.
It's possible for a female cat to have a litter by several different fathers (the fancy word for this is 'superfecundation'), since her cycle will last on average about a week but can last up to 21 days, during which she may mate with different tomcats (her heat cycle doesn't end after mating), and thus give birth to kittens by said cats. A tell-tale sign that this happened is a large litter with wildly varying colours.
AREN'T CATS AWESOME.

I loved the whole concept, really! The idea of seeing our regular environments with new eyes, looking for things to snap for the criteria. Personally I really liked looking for animal tracks left behind and attempting to articulate my skeleton, but I really loved the whole experience! I'm kind of sad I didn't get to participate as fully as I might have due to getting so sick, but honestly this was such an amazing idea and really well thought out. ryttu3k you have done an amazing job and there must have been a terrifying amount of work to keep on top of all the submissions, but you have done so fantastically! Again, thank you so much for hosting this!

Oh, I've loved this event! I've some fun trying to take photo of insect, lizard and bird. I think the most beautiful thing it was the nest searching because it wasn't easy to find, but when I found it take the picture was easy. So I've some fun in general, but some trouble with small creature, because it's was quite impossible take the photo with also the post-it with my nick on.
Thank you for this event, it's really cool and actually I love it.
