((Posting this now as my laptop seems to be getting a smidge overheated; don't want to loose all the responses so far!))
Minor disclaimer: I swear not all the judges have tempers ">> Kakigori just tends to get a bit snippy when she's in a grumpy mood.

Kakigori hemmed and hawed over Lyrii's dish for some time. Was the result actually bad? Or was that just because of her high standards for tastes? After all, with the possible exception of the turkey dinner, the challenge didn't call for anything particularly gourmet today.
"Salt. It needs salt," she eventualy said bluntly. "Never underestimate it's versatile nature even if yo have a bunch of other seasonings in it." She prodded a bit at the gumbo. "You said you were new at cooking? Perhaps before you try another challenge this week you might want to take notes from watching the other contestants. Or finding a cookbook to look through."
((Ugh, despite my RNG inspired response, I really want gumbo now too...normally I'm more of a jambalaya person but it's been so loooong))

Kakigori smiled appreciatively as she sampled the stew Gaspacho presented in front of her. "Maybe not the most creative dish with originality, based on the other contestants," she remarked, helping herself to another spoonful, "But it's a very satisfyingly warm and filling dish. Perfect for a cold night or after a long day traveling."

((Participating is favored more over knowledge here! One of my favorite entries still remains to be the contestant who mashed up all the ingredients into a paste them popped them into a fossil to bake and the RNG blessed them with a really high score!))
Kakigori makes a clearly unamused expression (which is hard to tell if this is just her default look or if she's still peeved that she has to go out searching high and low for whoever this "Tempest Spotter" is supposed to be) as she looks at the highland dryleaf sprinkled on top of the soup Vanitas presents infront of her. "While I admit, highland dryleaf really doesn't have much value as a garnish, and even then there's loads of other plants I would rather use, the object of the challenge is to utilize it in the dish. Seems a bit cheating to just stick it on there."

"So long as the food good, names don't really matter," Kakigori pointed out before sampling the Imperial's dish. She chewed thoughtfully before giving a slight nod of approval after swallowing. "It's not bad at all. And stir-fry was a rather clever idea given the fact that two of the required ingredients were already prepared. Helps heat the ingredients up to an even temperature and allows to to alter the seasonings without overcooking."
She rubbed at one of her eyes. "I
highly recomend you use something other than mycena mushrooms if you make this again," the told the Imperial, "what's just right for an Imperial is way too much for smaller breeds." She was going to have to sit down and let her vision clear before moving onto the next contestant.

Kakigori admitted she enjoyed watching the interactions between Briar and Comet. While sometimes a critter or visiting Beastclan member would follow her about for short stretches, she didn't have a dedicated familiar. And even if she did, she'd never seen one of the ones belonging to the other chefs actually help out in the kitchens. It brought up some interesting thoughts of whether Bloodstone might consider a Beastcaln staff member, should any show interest.
Though she quickly looked away after balloon and knife incident though.
"The taste of the dish isn't perfect, but it's good enough," she told the fae when she finaly had a chance to sample the end results, "but where you really shone is how you chose to utilize the dryleaf! Brilliant idea there to incorporate it into a dumpling flour. Though," she gestured a bit at the fae's person, "You might have been overeager with your grinding. You seem to have gotten brown powder from it all over your clothes."

"Rather hard to claim you were predicting this event for decades when this is the third year we're running," Kakigori said dryly to Orion. It wasn't that she didn't believe in seeing the future and fortune-telling, but unless the dragon in question was from Water Flight, they would have to cough up some pretty convincing evidence that they were genuine before she'd believe them. But this event wasn't about fortune telling so she'd let it go...
....or maybe not.
"And if you
were predicting this event for decades, you certainly should have used the time to prepare for this particular challenge more," she said, nibbling at a bit more of the bread, "It's edible, certainly, but I could eat just the sauce and leave the rest of it since it's way over cooked. Studying some cookbooks for the next challenge might be more beneficial than practicing flashy knife and fire tricks."

((CHESSSS!!! <3 I hope the RNG gods are more benevolent this year to you! Last year was pretty rough))
Despite being a repeat contestant, Kakigori had never met Chess before (she'd joined the clan too close to last year's Jamboree to have taken part in hosting any events), and perhaps this worked to his favor as she didn't have the high expectations that Bloodstone, Syrah and Meringue would have had.
"Points docked for creativity," she said, as this was the third soup type dish she'd had so far today, "but this is fan-....quite good." Praise came too soon however as she made a face, picking a spider out of the bowl. "You may wish to clean your ingredients better though. This no doubt was clinging to one of the mushroom varieties you used."
She popped it into her mouth anyways. Just because it was a sign of carelessness didn't mean it didn't taste good.

Kakigori's face puckered a bit as she sampled Pumpkin's offering. "You should have used just the salt or just the anchovies, not both," she said grabbing a waterskien from her belt and gulping some down. The mash is delicious and the berry sauce is nicely done, but the turkey is still all but impossible to eat as is." She gestured towards one of the surrounding tents, "Go see one of the other staff members and ask about getting a boxed lunch to take with you instead."

Snickerdoodle also got sent off to retrieve boxed lunches to replace her attempted dish.
"The turkey and the stuffing are well done, especialy the unique seasonings you chose for the former," Kakigori explained, trying to push away the actual offender to her tastebuds. "The fish gravy though? The idea was sound but not terribly well executed. Between the anchovies and the fish oil naturally having very strong flavors, when you put them together in a concentrated way like this, the fishy taste is simply overpowering anything it's put on."

Kakigori was speechless when she saw Orange's dish. But it wasn't with disgust or with horror for what she was about to eat (ok, maybe it was that at the start but...).
"Where taste is concerned, you are by far the most successful of the self-proclaimed amateurs that I've judged so far today," she exclaimed, utterly taken aback. "This is particularly impressive considering the...well...it was certainly an experience watching you try your hand at cooking today. Presentation is something to be improved on however. Massively improved. When in doubt, some pretty floral garnishes can go a long way with that so long as you don't over-do it."
Then again, "over-doing it" did seem to be the theme of this entry, whether intentional or not.
