TOPIC | A Legacy of War Breeding Challenge!

@ArouraBorialice @shepardess @Luciferr @pensandink @Ivythorn My seventh step in the Legacy of war has arrived, and I've never been more hyped at the possibilities! Courtesy of previews from the Scrying Workshop to prevent spoilers in the future, here are my potential heiresses named after Greek goddesses! The firstborn is Hera, who I completely flipped out upon seeing. Apart from breed, she got literally every single upgrade -- both Basics have been replaced with my favorite treasure gene pair and the Thylacine has been kicked out in favor of Lace. Obviously, I'm extremely excited at the possibility that she may continue this challenge! Then there's her little sister, Khione. If neither of them got any upgrades, she would have been my preferred pick. XYX Ice with an Orca secondary: aka, my two favorite colors from the grayscale spectrum? That's gorgeous. As it is, though, Hera's genetic progress is much preferred at this late point in the challenge, so it's clear that I'm going to be rooting for the older sister. No offense, Khione. Boy, this is going to be tense anticipation. It's a coin toss who will be my heir. One result would bring me wild joy, and the other rage at the RNG. Only time will tell. I'll see you all in a little under a week with the results! These two Pearlies will be the first of my challenge's lineage to duke it out in the new Training Fields, too. :D So pumped!

Oya was on the homepage yesterday, I believe that's the third dragon of mine ever to make it there. She's really taking over my clan already.

In other news, she and Hakkan are bringing 3 hatchlings into this world. The perfect amount, right?

Aand so I had to choose a mate for Dene to continue the lineage:

So last time I updated, my favorite and luckiest dragon won, Saira. I paired her with this tripled Ice gentleman, who came with the name Taiga. They had three eggs, perfect for their coliseum battle. Juniper: favorite with the colors but no upgrades. This is too good to be true. Jessamine: least favorite, no upgrades. A little sad but I'll live with my luck from last round. Today they grew up and went to the coliseum. First round is going normal when Jaisen takes a big critical hit. He's not out yet though, thank the spirits. He's my pride and joy. They all take a few hits here and there until the 4th round, where Jessamine falls. My least favorite, but I'm still sad to see her go. Fifth round Jaisen takes another hit and is almost out, leaving me on the edge of my seat between him and Juniper who are both low in health by the 6th round. Seventh round and my luck finally runs out. As karma would have it, Jaisen faints and Juniper is my next heir. At least she's more on the blue spectrum than purple. Here's hoping I can find an acceptable mate in a color I like!

@ArouraBorialice @shepardess @Luciferr @pensandink @Ivythorn The day has arrived where Hera and Khione battle to be my heir! As predicted, the stakes feel quite high in this one. The real question remained... Would Hera win, the one who carried all three gene upgrades, the one who could end the string of Basics once and for all? Or would it be Khione, the one with beautiful colors who nonetheless carries no upgrades and would trap us in Basic hell? It seemed as if fate decided we wouldn't have long to wait. In my excitement to put these two beauties through the ringer, I may have sent them into the (new and improved!) Training Fields without a coach. Three miths came out to fight and I knew the second I saw them that this would be a one-battle ordeal. They were neck-and-neck the entire time, contusing their enemies and dodging as best they could. At last, with one final dodge over her sister, Hera emerged victorious. I'm so happy! Basic is eliminated! By Gladekeeper, I have never seen any dragon so beautiful. <3 With Hera, my minimum goal for the challenge has been achieved (that being a respectable triple-gened dragon), but now we can continue to go up and see what can happen. She's our Gen 7 lady, so we have a little time to spare! And believe it or not, we don't have to see her sister's lovely colors go... When I search for mates, I check for one update in each category, and I just about lost it when I found one that has exactly Khione's colors: XYX Ice and Orca! But that's obviously not the only thing I like about him, of course. He has Runes -- my favorite tertiary from the Limited category -- and Giraffe and Hex, which are genes I love and don't see often enough. I'd love a Giraffe and Hex child for my lair. :D I won't complain if that doesn't happen, of course, but the possibility is neat. It'll be a while before they can breed and I must say I can't wait. <3

I've been wanting to do this for a while, but for the sake of lair space, held off (even if I bought my founder early). But being notified each time the next generation heir of everyone else's legacies is revealed hath definitely blown away my reason. And so, I present to you: Ailana, the founder, who I plan to keep permanently (because dang, she be a great great great great great great grandma by the end of this) and later gene up. She's a gen one, who I honestly decided to buy because of her tertiary colour (runes look so beautiful in buttercup ♥). I think she's quite a catch for an 8kt gen one - but it might just be me? And this is her mate, Taekwoon, who I got for only 6.49kt. Or 7.49kt? I can't remember. But I just thought he was pretty, and the colour range seemed small enough. I kinda wanna keep him too, but the demands of lair space... I don't have anything in mind for the final result, honestly, so I just went by genes and boom it was he. I still can't begin though /shakes fist/ because Taekwoon's on cooldown right now - for 27 days. /crawls into a corner and sobs a little/

" right through me ! " - even of day
[s]With thanks to the Scrying Workshop, so no spoilers will be happening later on.[/s] Oya's eggs were late in hatching, and the Fae grew more frustrated by the hour. Her mate, Hakkan, tried to encourage the nest to hatch, telling them about their destiny and the plans their parents had for them. And as soon as the first egg started to crack, both dragons looked at it with eager eyes... Only to really dislike their first daughter. "Such a disappointment...", Oya muttered to her mate. Hakkan sighed. "Guess this one didn't win the lottery.", he replied. The tiny Fae looked at her parents. but they didn't seem too interested in her. "She'll never be strong enough to continue our legacy.", her mother said. Her voice was calm, but laced with anger. "There there darling. They can't all be winners.", her dad replied, sounding apathetic and not making eye contact with his daughter. "At least give it a name so we can move on." Oya grumbled and her eyes snapped to the hatchling. "Apheleia.", she said. That was all that Apheleia ever got from her parents, because soon enough, the other two eggs started to hatch. And her parents liked her younger siblings much more. "Hakkan, look at her!" Oya almost cheered when her second daughter shook the remaining eggshells off her head. "Oh, a winner has been born!", Hakkan replied, sounding equally as pleased as his mate. "Hello my dear daughter! You look lovely!" The young Spiral hatchling beamed proudly, showing off herself to her parents, eager to be praised even more. "Your name shall be Aergia.", Oya said. "My darling, you have a beautiful destiny ahead of you. Surely, you got what it takes to become a succesful heiress to our family." Aergia grinned, and looked over at her older sister, sticking out her tongue. Apheleia didn't react, but carefully picked up the eggshells from the ground around her and stacking them neatly. While Oya and Hakkan were still happy over their second daughter, they completely missed the third egg hatching. But an energetic male Fae brought his mother a dead bug and Oya was beyond delighted. "Did you catch this?", she asked. Proudly, the young Fae spit out the bug. There was a fire burning in his eyes that pleased his mother beyond words. "Your name shall be Eris. I like your fighting spirit. Be sure to work hard and you'll come far. Even if you're not as perfect as your sister." Eris didn't flinch, or look at his sister. Instead, his crests moved in the direction of another bug and he ran off chasing it. ----- Here's the lore that's in the bios of these three kiddos (because two will eventually fall in battle I'll still post it here)
Apheleia, according to her parents, is the most disappointing hatchling from the nest. Even if she hatched before the other two, her younger siblings get more attention because they look and act stronger. Apheleia herself might have a simple exterior, she started preparing for her eventual battle hours after she hatched. Desperate for her parents' attention, she is determined to win the right to continue the bloodline.

Aergia is the best of her nest. Not only is she certain of it, her parents are too. She looks like a warrior, however the immense amount of attention her parents are giving her she does not act like one. Aergia prefers to spend her time grooming herself and looking at her reflection. She doesn't have to prepare, she is certain to continue the bloodline. It is her destiny. Why else would she be this perfect after all?

Eris might be the youngest of his nest, he quickly made sure he was noticed by his parents. He might not look as perfect as his sister, he quickly showed agility and power that impressed his parents a lot. His mother, Oya, was especially impressed by his willingness to fight. Eris spends his time hunting for bugs, and fighting with his 'perfect' sister. She is his rival, and he will defeat her when the time comes.
Return in five days to see who survives!

Here's the lore that's in the bios of these three kiddos (because two will eventually fall in battle I'll still post it here)
Apheleia, named after the spirit of Simplicity wrote:
Apheleia, according to her parents, is the most disappointing hatchling from the nest. Even if she hatched before the other two, her younger siblings get more attention because they look and act stronger. Apheleia herself might have a simple exterior, she started preparing for her eventual battle hours after she hatched. Desperate for her parents' attention, she is determined to win the right to continue the bloodline.
Aergia, named after the spirit of Idleness wrote:
Aergia is the best of her nest. Not only is she certain of it, her parents are too. She looks like a warrior, however the immense amount of attention her parents are giving her she does not act like one. Aergia prefers to spend her time grooming herself and looking at her reflection. She doesn't have to prepare, she is certain to continue the bloodline. It is her destiny. Why else would she be this perfect after all?
Eris, named after the spirit of Rivalry wrote:
Eris might be the youngest of his nest, he quickly made sure he was noticed by his parents. He might not look as perfect as his sister, he quickly showed agility and power that impressed his parents a lot. His mother, Oya, was especially impressed by his willingness to fight. Eris spends his time hunting for bugs, and fighting with his 'perfect' sister. She is his rival, and he will defeat her when the time comes.
