My O-generation hatched today and, blessedly, I was not wegged for a third time by the parents. Instead, I got a healthy nest of four, and plenty of opportunities for gene changes seemed to await me!
As a reminder, here are the parents...

Now, anyone who's been following my posts will know that I've been stuck in Speckle / Paint / Underbelly hell for a while now and I've been desperate for a change. Well, I'm grateful to announce that the curse has reached its end! The quadruplets -- named after anglicized Hindi words -- all came through with at least one new gene!
And so, without further ado, here were the children:

Ojha
Charcoal Savannah
Purple Paint
Smoke Contour

Ojasvi
Charcoal Speckle
Orchid Paint
Platinum Contour

Orkida
Oilslick Speckle
Blackberry Toxin
Fuchsia Contour

|
Ojapurna
Black Savannah
Heather Paint
White Contour

I was thrilled to see them all come out of their shells! And amazed, actually, that Underbelly didn't show up even once. Ah, but that doesn't matter -- what matters is that the curse is over.
Anyway, it took me all of two seconds to decide that Orkida (named after the Hindi word for
orchid) would be my heir. First of all, she inherited Toxin, which must have definitely been an uphill battle versus Paint! Second of all, it matches beautifully with her tertiary, and both contrast gorgeously against her primary. Goodness, if she had just inherited Savannah instead of Speckle, she would've been perfect. After I breed her to produce the P-generation, she'll be moving to the lair of a friend of mine, who also saw her and said "I need her!"
Speaking of breeding, I feel like I also got quite lucky with her mate!

Flint Falcon

He'll have a pretty tight range with her on the primary and I
think on the tertiary? Well, either way, Contour is guaranteed next generation, Current can mix things up a bit, and Falcon -- one of my favorite treasure genes -- has the same rarity as Speckle, so you can
bet that would be a huge selling point for a future heir.
As for his name, it's Latin for
olive tree. I suppose I'll be using Latin names for certain plants (or families of plants) on my P-generation!
Fifteen days left until they breed! See you guys in about three weeks!
