A Coli Challenge modification I came up with, for people who don't mind taking a billion years to do one. Been seeing threads for them all over and knew I was gonna try it, but I had to add just one last level of needing ridiculous patience, just to make it all the more maddening.
How it's done:
Begin at the lowest level venue (Training Fields). Move through the levels- you can leave each one once a familiar is obtained. Count how many battles it takes in each venue until you've found a familiar, or time it.
When you've done them all, return to the zone where it took you the least amount of battles to move on. Now you're going to stay in that final venue until you obtain an egg. You heard me, even if it takes a week straight of nonstop grinding. A month. A year. This is XTREME. They have the children! Are you just going to give up? Is that what a dinosaur would do? No. You will save the children. YOU ARE XTREME.
Count/time how many battles it takes to get the egg-- that's your final score! The score means nothing (except that you are awesome), unless you either choose it to, or want to compare to subsequent run-throughs, should you ever desire to punish yourself in such a way again.
In fact, doing it again to compete with your first score is Xtreme Masochists Level! I don't even know if I'm up for that you guys, so, it's pretty freaking Xtreme.
Beat your high score by taking more battles to get the egg: tenacity award! reward yourself, go gene a derg or something. You should probably have enough treasure just from autoselling the junk items to give them crystal/glamour/magicpants
Beat your low score by taking less battles to get the egg: efficiency award! reward yourself with a new apparel item.
Or oh hey, reward yourself either way by hatching the egg you found! Maybe you should do that anyway, if you don't plan to sell it! Put your winner's badge on their page! Type the epic tale of how you saved them from a battlefield! Name them XTREMO! Whatever!
Post here:
How many battles it took in each venue, good loot you found, your final score for comparison to other players. Your score through successive playthroughs. Goodies you splurged on with the spoils of all that Coli-ing. What the hatchie looks like if you hatched your egg. Etc.
I think I'm about to hate myself for deciding to do this... but it's game on. *lowers goggles*

I put together some badges for players and winners. All that work deserves recognition! Feel free to display these in your sig or on your user page or a dragon's page or your masochism blog, or whatever.
A general badge for participants:

Here's a button for winners who completed their whole challenge!

And here's one for people who found their egg before they were even finished getting their familiars- I feel like that's a special achievement:

...and just because that wasn't XTREME enough someone got an egg on their first battle! I made another button. This one may be used by anybody who doesn't want to use the big banner but it's inspired by Mistwing608!

**FAQ!**
What if I want to do the challenge, but I'm not yet high enough level to fight in some venues?
Technically I only fielded this query once but it was a good one so I'm putting it in- here was my answer:
Oooh! For you, the challenge will be even more XTREME, because part of your challenge is going to have to be leveling your dragons or it won't work. So let's work that in so it's still got a goal in mind, or it will feel twice as frustrating and that's definitely not what this is all about.
Start at Training Fields and move on once you get a familiar as normal. Only log the time/ battle number for your first go-round, that's what you'll count for the selection part of your challenge. Once you get to a venue where you can't move on because you're not high enough level to survive the next venue, go back to the lowest level venue that still gives you XP, and then once again go through those levels, moving on only when you either have another familiar or aren't getting XP any more. By the time you get back up to where you were before, you should be up enough to move on again. Again, only bother logging the first go-round of any particular venue to avoid confusion.
Rinse and repeat as needed until you're able to creep up to the highest venue! This will actually not only make the challenge more difficult for you, but also a lot more rewarding- at the end, you should not only have an egg (or more eggs if you win the Xtreme Timing but decide to continue) but also a nice pile of familiars and maybe best of all, a set of 25 dragons who can then help you train your subsequent coli dragons and/or exalts a lot more quickly! The other nice thing about a 25 team is that you can grind more easily because you can go to any venue to do so, and so if there's a Swipp item you want to stock up on or it's one of the monthly festivals and you want to grind for goodies, you can select any venue and aren't limited by your dragons' power.
What if two venues tie for my egg hunt venue?
Basically, you get to choose between two elimination tactics. If you just want to get through the challenge and aren't interested in extra punishment, you just pick the one you think you can stand to look at for the next forever (maybe you need the most stuff from there for Swipp, or you like to collect something that drops there, or it offers a rare item you've lusted after, or you just like the aesthetics better). But if you want to stay true to the Xtreme spirit, you do an elimination round. For the elimination round, you battle in each and the one that drops anything rarer than food, materials, or trinkets first is the winner.
What are some good ways to count my battles?
I either make tick marks on a piece of paper or open a notepad/word processor file and type in a new number at the end of each one.
For people who like something more interactive this Coli Loot Tracker is very popular and plenty of people here use it to useful effect in their quest! http://gavsim.dreamhosters.com/misc/fr/trackloot.htm
We also have the following suggestion from a challenger:

Edit: Google is awesome.
Lightshot is a screenshot program, and you can set it up so that you can press whatever button you press will automatically save an image in numbered format. And when you delete all of the images, it'll re-number them. I think I will be able to do these challenge like this. X3

UPDATE 4/23: ARENA IS NOW DROPPING EGGS and therefore counts as a potential final challenge round now! Excitement!

*This is now a fairly popular way to torment yourself! We're on an official list of Coli Challenges and came up as a notable thread in the last community update (as of May 2016).
*We've passed 100 pages, and hit 100 challengers by page 37!
*Unofficial motto seems to be "Let's do this" as a goodly number of challengers say it when beginning their challenge-- many also cite variations on "sure why not" and "yeah I like torture/ there goes my day/week/year/life" but we didn't get the same repeat of exact wording there. ;)
*Record for most battles seems to currently be 10k, nobody has attempted more so far. I wasn't awesome enough to find this player again, anyone else who wants to read through pages can let me know and I'll add it, meanwhile we'll wait for the next time I have time to browse through the thread...
*All time record for least battles in the Xtreme Timing category goes to Mistwing608, who got an egg in the very first battle of their challenge (will anyone tie?!)
*For some pretty detailed and cool stats on the challenge so far, visit the first post on page 208 for a breakdown of average # of battles, most common familiars found, and a whooole lot more info from user Dis! Here is that post: http://www1.flightrising.com/forums/frd/1553819/208#post_20492563
*Let me know if there's anything else awesome should go up here!
