They're a collectible of sorts, and also a companion to your dragons. Equip them to your dragon and every day you can spend time with it and become better allies, or even friends. Each time you spend time with your familiar, you're rewarded with treasure or items that your familiar gives to you.

You can 'bond' with your familiar once a day (per dragon) in which you receive small rewards.
