It's time for another Community Update! We'll cover some basic account security measures you can take to protect your account, the FRFanArt spotlight, elemental holiday recaps, and review our most recent quality of life updates!
Keeping Your Account Secure
On June 28, 2019 we introduced a new article to our Knowledge Base, How can I protect my account? Today we're going to cover some of the basic steps you can take to protect your account from being compromised due to shared information or reused passwords.
This is likely old news to players already using strong passwords, not reusing passwords across websites and emails, and not sharing login credentials, but we encourage all of our players to read the full article at your earliest convenience.
What is an account compromise?
The most frequent type of account compromise we see in the Help Desk is when a couple or friends have a falling out. We know sharing your account seems like it's not a big deal because you're close with this person and you trust them, but doing so puts your account at risk.
What is that risk? If you shared your account information or account with a third-party, not only is it in violation of our Terms of Use, Support will not be able to help you recover whatever items, dragons, or currency were removed from your account.
The other type of compromise we've seen is when a player has not changed their password for years and is using it across several websites. Breaches can happen to any site at any time and each shared password increases the risk to any account with identical login information. Support can assist you with this, but it will take awhile and your account will be closed for the duration of the investigation.
Why are we telling you this?
Good account hygiene and best password practices greatly reduces the risk of your account being compromised.
If you are sharing your login information, haven't changed your password in a long time, or you use your password with any other website, we encourage you to change your Flight Rising password right now to protect your account: http://www1.flightrising.com/login/changepass
Fan Art Fridays
For our social media communities, we've introduced Fan Art Friday on Twitter and Tumblr! Based on community participation and interest, we will be expanding to other platforms in the future!
How to Participate
Participation is simple—just add #FRFanArt when you post your Flight Rising fan art!
Why use the hashtag?
Using this hashtag also communicates to us that it is okay to reblog, retweet, or even spotlight your work on the site!
The Community Update spotlight consists of a thumbnail that links directly to your fan art on the platform you shared it to, with either your Flight Rising account name or your Twitter or Tumblr username if your account name is not readily available. This means if you want your Flight Rising username included in the credit, please make sure we can find it somewhere on your profile or post.
We only spotlight fan art that doesn't contain profanity, nudity, etc. If your username or the post itself has that, your fan art is not eligible for a spotlight.
While we may not be able to share all posted fan art, using #FRFanArt is also a way to show off your fan art to new people and fellow players when they browse the tag.
Why Social Media?
There are many of our players who don't visit the forums, just waiting to be engaged. In addition to #FRFanArt on Twitter and Tumblr, we highly recommend checking out the many beautiful pieces of art made by our community on the Flight Rising Deviantart Group.

Flight Festival Recap 2018-2019
For those new to Flight Rising, back when we first opened in 2013, the Flight Rising community created a tradition that's continued for six (6) years: the creation and hosting of player-created events through a dedicated thread located Flight Rising Discussion forum. Historically, this dedicated thread contains a list of events happening across the forums that players can participate in and also serves as a central discussion point for participating players.
Our March Community Update covered the 2018-2019 Crystalline Gala and Trickmurk Circus. Today we’ll cover the 2018-2019 Mistral Jamboree, Wavecrest Saturnalia, and Greenskeeper Gathering! Given the depth and breadth of the player-run events, it’s not always possible to recap every mini-event held. Please take the time to check out each hub to see everything Wind, Water, and Nature had to offer their fellow players this year!

You give him a puzzled look.
"Well, I... I'm not s'posed to write any sea shanties this'n trip. But nobody said you couldn't, partner! How about it?"
- Letters from the Exalted
Along with the grand fleet of Water's finest ships comes a ragged armada of tag-alongs: fishing boats, catamarans, a handful of yachts, and at least one rusty submarine. Among them is a vessel trailing a banner: Letters from the Exalted. It's a mail ship, delivering missives from the lucky dragons exalted to the deities. Why not hop on board and take a look?
