You buy cheap fodder from the AH, and sell it for a higher (or lower??) price, correct?

It is, indeed, called flipping.

You buy up cheap dragons and then sell them for a higher price. You can do this either by buying dragons when they're cheap and selling them when they're higher (usually buying before a dom battle and selling during), by buying hatchlings and selling them for more as adults (both of these methods tie up your lairspace), or by sniping cheaper hatchlings and listing them for higher right away when there's a dom battle going on. The latter requires dedication, since the profit margin can often be small.
