Went to school in the US and had to learn cursive 1st to 3rd grade. GOD did I hate it, and I would always pretend to work on it when the teacher was looking, but then draw random things in my workbook as soon as she turned around lol. I still don't really know why that was necessary because I literally don't remember any of it and I've never had to use it.

Yup. I went to a bunch of private schools that liked things fancy, so I learnt it pretty early in primary school. I write in cursive to this day- I just find it easier. My script looks horrible compared to my cursive.

I learnt cursive in one state and find it easier to write with so I still do to this day.
When I moved states though, my friends all thought it was strange I learnt cursive because they didn't have to.

You can never have enough apparel. I will not stop until my hoard is dripping with it.
I live in Austria, we learned the "printed" letters in first grade and cursive in second grade. As far as I know nobody had more problems than "oh no, more to learn". My mum learned it before the printed letters. After elementary school, we didn't have to write in cursive anymore, we could write as we wanted to. I don't think any of them is easier than the other one and I experimented a lot with how I like to write better, and when my right hand started to hurt a lot I wrote a lot with my left hand where cursive just bothered me. Now I normally write in printed letters but also sometimes in cursive or a mix (very very small), and I'm trying to get to read Cyrillic cursive like I did with the printed Cyrillic letters - without really learning it XD

I went to several schools in my state but none of them taught it. I wish they had, because I struggle to read cursive all the time now, and my signature.... Looks awful. Yikes D:

Yes. I live in England, have done my entire life so far.
Learning cursive was required in primary and high school. We used to get scolded in primary school for not writing work in cursive (we had a really old, backwards headteacher). And in high school English class teachers were quite adamant that we wrote in cursive.
I find it funny now because barely anyone in work or university write cursive. Nowadays my handwriting confuses people because I write in cursive all the time, its just how I was taught. I even got a comment in one of my exams that my writing was hard to read. I've tried writing like everyone else, but my letters inevitably link up or become messy.

We had to learn it and use it all the time for a few years on primary school in Ireland. (Ages 8-10 maybe?) but I hated it. I was messy and it took me three times longer, which delighted
my teacher. She made me stay in for like the first 15 minutes of lunch break to finish whatever I had been writing one time :/

Yes, in first grade I started learning it and I use it commonly now since it definitely IS faster for me. My print writing looks like chicken scratch as well and cursive is lovely if you know how to make it legible.

We were obliged to write in cursive from second to sixth grade. After that we got into the next big school level and the teachers let us choose (because cursive was already kinda out when I learned it.) At first we had to practice all the letters individually, then we had to write words and at some point whole texts.
I kinda have a cursive meets normal writing -style now. But yeah I never realized that many people don't have to learn cursive at school?

We had to take it in 3rd grade and it was awful, we're actually questioning if we have dysgraphia so you can imaging the kind of hell that was learning cursive. We actually do write better and easier in cursive now that we've learned but it's really illegible
