Oh you're totally fine to bug me! I usually make friends in-game by chatting in general chat or talking with guild mates! My guild isn't active in terms of doing things together like raids and such but, it's just nice being in a guild that does talk to each other and helps each other with things! I actually just made friends with a returning player like you last night after helping him with a quest and ended up flying him around Nazjatar doing other things ^^
You'd probably have good luck finding friends in a guild! Not all guilds require you to participate in raids/dungeons/pvp things, so maybe checking a few more popular ones on your server would be good! If you don't like the atmosphere you could always leave and find a new guild

Haven't been playing on retail for a while now, but I am planning to return when Classic comes out. Having a lot of fun on a Wotlk private server though.
