Also, it's a common misconception that wasps are aggressive. They are in fact, very, very short sighted. They come this close because they want to see you. The best thing to do when a wasps is around is stop moving and let it do its thing for a moment. It'll go away on its own sooner if you don't move.

Very true! (I hope it's okay I'm replying)
I was too afraid of mentioning this but wasps are pretty curious and not as aggressive as people make them out to be. Including hornets! They just a different body language compared to bees when it comes to warnings. I'd say paper wasps have more attitude!
