[img]https://www.marylandzoo.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/bog_turtle_web-1024x682.jpg[/img] The bog turtle ([i]Glyptemys muhlenbergii[/i]) is a critically endangered species of semiaquatic turtle endemic to the eastern United States. It lives in colonies that are usually 20 individuals or fewer, and is usually found in swamps, wetlands, marshes, and meadows. During the day, it basks in the sun, but will retreat underground or even go into aestivation (summer hibernation) if it gets too hot. When it feels threatened- usually by predators like foxes or raccoons- it usually buries itself in the mud, since its shell offers little protection. Road traffic, invasive plants, the illegal pet trade, slow reproductive rates, and pesticides have led to population declines. However, captive breeding, controlled burns, and even cattle grazing (to create mud) are all ways of helping this species.

But i have to agree with Mythkat, tha fact that there are more than 300 species on the very brink of extinction should not be reality.

[img]https://i.pinimg.com/originals/1a/e0/14/1ae0145c2d7807095b66a0b10a0c314c.jpg[/img] The rhim gazelle ([i]Gazella leptoceros[/i]) is an endangered species of gazelle found in Algeria, Chad, Libyra, Sudan, and Egypt. Its name is cognate with the Hebrew [i]re’em[/i], which is thought to refer to an oryx, bovine, or possibly a unicorn. This gazelle is well-adapted to life in the hot Sahara Desert: its pale coat reflects the sun’s rays, it feeds on desert vegetation, and the water intake it needs comes mostly from morning dew. It is a nomadic species that is usually found on and between sand dunes. Heavy hunting for sport, meat, and its slender horns led to a serious decline in the twentieth century, and persistent threats include habitat loss and disturbance by humans.
