The Taita African caecilian (Boulengerula taitana is an endangered species of caecilian, a group of serpentine amphibians, endemic to the Taita Hills in Kenya. It has an unusual behavior in which the mother develops a thick, nutritious skin after her eggs hatch, which the offspring eat. Adults feed on organic soil matter. It is threatened by agricultural development and deforestation.

The lion-tailed macaque (Macaca silenus) is an endangered Old World monkey endemic to South India. They have a black tuft at the end of their tail, similar to a lion’s, as well as a thick silver-gray mane. Like other macaques, they have cheek pouches to carry food. Their main threats are habitat fragmentation and hunting.
