Hello! My name is Mew, and I’ve been collecting taxidermy since 2010. It all started with a raccoon tail and kept going! I actually used to have a lot more to my collection, but two years ago I had to sell the majority of it so I could move to my home in Kentucky with my boyfriend. I’m slowly building up again, and you’ll be sure to see more in the near future! The baby zebra will be mounted soon, and the burgundy white mark fox is in the process of being soft mounted.

Those are some magnificent moths!
EDIT: Oof, I forgot to add what I came here for.

Collection: A bit lacking due to inadequate space. Several assorted guineafowl bones, a dried mantis (former pet of mine), a tube full of june beetles, and one wet specimen Giant Water Beetle.
Skills: Getting stung by insects, scavenging, and finding neat looking feathers I'm not allowed to keep!
Dream piece(s): I don't have a specific piece, but I'd like to have a creepy basement full of wet specimens with a spooky backlight.
Do you mind being pinged?: Ping away!

THIS BUG WILL TRADE NEST SPACE AND DRAWINGS FOR FAMILIARS
So I'm not big into taxidermy but I found this on a beach and I have no idea what the heck it is.

DraconisFilia do you have a better image? and what region of the world is the beach?
im pretty sure the animal is mammal, at the bottom of the image you can see a front leg with the scapula and all the bones going down and then i assume a paw. the other thing i assume is the head but im not sure exactly what im looking at. if the white things are teeth then im pretty sure its a carnivore.
i think it might be a raccoon head but i cant see enough to be sure my mind isnt just making connections and filling in blanks

Thanks for the info on the sheep/deer difference! I'd never have picked up on that on my own.
As for the bulldog skull, I'm absolutely positive it's a replica (it came with a bone clones tag on it, so...). I feel really lucky to have gotten it though, it's listed for 170 USD on the bone clones website, so to have actually snagged it from the
garbage pile at my school is incredible!

So to anyone who knows the answer, approximately how long does it take to soak the grease out of a skull? I have two skulls soaking on my back porch, and I'm doing the way that's dish soap and water, and I'm switching out the water every day. Does anyone know how long it'll take for the skulls to not cloud the water? The skulls in question are a fox skull and a turtle skull.
