This was a screenshot I took while playing Niche. A stray Nicheling was wandering around aimlessly until he came to the beach, only to jump into the water. I expected him to drown, but he came back up on the shore and I had one of my young Nichelings invite him in. Thankfully he got a mate and was no longer seen trying to jump off into the ocean.[/i]
[b]Niche is a genetics survival game where you start off with two creatures, named Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve come with half randomized genes, and you must breed them and start a family. You can find other creatures while wandering through the tall grass, and breed them with your pack to bring new genes to the group. Threats include Carnivores that will try to attack your animals and eat any nearby bunnies, birds that will pick up any young Nichelings left alone without an adult creature, Nest stealing birds, sickness and bad genes, and Wild, horny male creatures that will mate with your females and bring bad genes into the pack, but refuse to join your group. Adult Nichelings have three gems on their chest, which indicates how many turns and moves the have. As a creature grows, they gain these gems. You can pick from berries, kill and collect bunnies, and kill and collect Carnivores to get food.
Overall Niche is a really fun, strategy turn based game which focuses on basic genetics and breeding. There's pretty babies and ugly babies, strong babies and weak babies.[/b]

I haven't really seen any forums on FR about Niche, and the last one I made was buried in the GD, so I decided to make a new one! But more organized and formal, I guess. This is the fan group/ discussion for the game, Niche! Niche is still in development and you can buy it for 18 dollars on Steam. I do not own the game or any part of it, the game belongs to its respectful owners. I'm just here to play the game and share the fun of it with other users on Flight Rising.
So, does anyone have any funny screenshots or cute/ beautiful Nichelings to share? Even if it's an ugly Nicheling, as long as you like it, you can share it!
So far with the newest update I have two worlds, one where my pack is prospering, and the other almost completely eaten up by carnivores and starvation and bad genes, with only a few Nichelings left to fight for survival, because of the extreme lack of berry bushes and resources.

I played Niche for a while in Autumn, but back then I found the controls slightly annoying. But I see there have been some new updates, maybe I should have a look again.
(I really liked the game btw. It was just very hard to get an overview of your creatures again after being away from the game for a day. It was easy to make mistakes like losing an immuniy gene or something after coming back to the game....)

Love this game! I used to have a whole archive of screenshots with my favorite creatures, but I recently got a new laptop so I don't have access to them. )=
Advice: if you're going to breed a purely aquatic creature, make SURE it has the ram horns gene, or something to give it strength points! I once had a beautiful whale-headed species that I spent hours perfecting only to have a whole bunch of predators gang up and wipe them out in a couple of turns.

I've mostly not been trying to breed any aquatic Nichelings until my pack grows a bit bigger and stronger. But I have gotten creatures with gills and swimming tails, so it might be worth a try to let one of them venture out into the water.

On one of my newest worlds, I seemed to have an explosion of pretty panda babies, but one of the panda families had a sad little story.
This is Cola, the mom. She had a lot of babies in her time
