The musical takes the span over the entirety of Hamilton’s life; from his orphanage in the Caribbean, to meeting the love of his life, to his lowest moment in life finally ending in his famous duel and the repercussions of his actions. Hamilton differed from the majority of the old white men in history because originally he was not American, being born on the island of Nevis in the British West indies.
