Thanks! I'll definitely use that on my next road trip. And wow, where I live the sky is so bright... That's unfortunate.

Antennae Galaxies. Taken by @ZannaDragon using the robotic FSQ-106 telescope at Sliding Spring Observatory, Australia. (3x3min + 3x5min, 24min total exposure time)
Notes:
The galaxies appear small, zoom in to see! In the image below, the large image is of the Antennae Galaxies and the others are background galaxies. The two to the middle right are not right next to each other, the cropping placed them there. The tidal tails cast off from the galaxy merger are visible to the right of the antennae galaxies, look carefully to see!

Does anyone know what I can do about the red, green, and blue arrays of hot pixels? I've been told it's because of bad (no) darks, but DeepSkyStacker glitches and won't let me process with calibration frames.
Yeah, it's very bright where I am too. Unfortunately by the very nature of light pollution (following population) it's that way for most astronomers. :(
There is a place I'm planning on doing a post about in the future, however. It's called "Sky Village", and it sounds like it's too good to be true, but it is a real place! Out in the middle of the desert in Arizona, in one of the most pristine dark sky sites on the planet, is a small community entirely of astronomers. Many people have observatories in their backyard (small domes or roll-off-roof sheds, not big ones), and everyone turn off every light and goes to stargaze every night, if it's clear. It sounds like paradise!

Here we go with introductions! :)
How did you get into astronomy?
I've always loved space and one of my friend's parents had a really nice telescope when I was young and would show us all the stars. Then I decided to take Astronomy in college and absolutely loved it! If my college offered Astronomy as a minor I would have signed up right away, but alas they do not. However Astronomy is still one of my favorite classes I've taken (even over my major classes)! Then my favorite movie director made Interstellar, and I have ever since been obsessed with space!
Do you have a telescope, binoculars, or other observing aid?
Currently I do not but I'm saving up for a telescope!
How serious are you about astronomy?
Currently it is just a hobby but as previously stated I would have definitely minored in it if I could have!
Have you ever been to a dark sky site?
I have! I've been to my local observatory where I live and I've been on a visit to the Palomar Observatory and it's absolutely beautiful! So many stars!
Have you ever been to a starparty?
No, but I'd love to in the future!

Interstellar is a great movie, isn't it? :)
Good for you! Are you saving up for a particular telescope or do you know yet?

Ahh sorry for not getting back to you, but yes I'm also A beginner in astrophotograpy getting a lot of help from my close friend we both use DSLR cameras ^^ unfortunately right now I'm living in London as a student so it's not the best conditions for starry nights as it would be if I was back home in more of a rural area.
And yesss I love SpaceEngin so much! (
also here's a really cool 360 video of SpaceEngin) My friend who got me into astrophotograpy showed it to me along with some other space themed games, if you have the money to spare it might be worth taking a look at Universe Sandbox ² and I have heard good things about Kerbal Space Program and Elite: Dangerous I'm sure there's more out there but that's all I can think of right now :D

Awesome! I'm using a couple of remote telescopes in Australia for my imaging (They're actually taking an image of NGC 5090 now, I'll post it when it's done). I get the keen sense that things are much easier on me because I don't have to be personally dealing with the equipment XD Yeah, London is not the best place for astrophotography. I hope you get the chance for darker skies in the future!
OMG that is an awesome video!!! I didn't know that you could take 360 videos in SpaceEngine! (Although it almost made me wish I owned a planetarium when I found out there's planetarium projector mode!) Like, SpaceEngine would honestly be the main reason I'd ever get a VR headset because that is just SO COOOOOL!!!! (Also Scott Manley is awesome!)
I have Universe Sandbox ² and Kerbal Space Program already :) I don't think I've ever seen Elite: Dangerous before, I'll check it out! No Man's Sky is one that my brother is really hyped about, but I'm not so impressed- It looks cool, but in no way astronomically correct. I'm sure I'm annoying at times with my "astronomical correctness" (read: when I went to see the new Star Wars with my family)! I mean, I can appreciate a good game or movie, but when my astronomer side is dying a little that does kind of get distracting :) Anyhow, Universe Sandbox ² is awesome, I don't play it too much anymore but when I do play it's always worth it :) And then there's Kerbal Space Program- I don't play it a lot, because I found out it's kinda not my style. I'm more "big picture", so when I get an astronomy craving it's SpaceEngine I go to, but Kerbal Space Program satisfies my regular gamer "YEEEEAH LET'S BLOW THINGS UP" side :)
Here's a plane that I actually got to 38,000 meters (my brother was watching and says that's how high it got, but I stopped taking screenshots every 10 seconds after ~30,000 meters)
