First of all I'm sorry it took me ages to reply; I was hiking though, and it was lovely. Also sorry about this wall of text :l

To be fair though, I think MRDs only get their first ability that lets them grab aggro efficiently at level 15 so if they didn't level GLA for Flash the level 10 hests are kind of awful for them. Then again, all it takes is reading a guide and they'll have to level GLA anyway to get the WAR job so ...

It does suck when the tank just doesn't realize / care if enemies are aggroing on the Healer / DPS people - I've had that often enough, as well. Or DPS people who get aggro and just don't care to reduce their enmity / to take the enemy back to the tank so he can get the aggro again more easily, so...

Yeah man marked enemies are a godsend and I always hope the tank will mark them - at least when the kill order matters somewhat but it just makes things so much easier - for everyone, I suppose, though my perspective is limited to DPS, of course.
I usually don't ask if people know the mechanics, even if it seems like they are doing it for the first time ... because I kind of feel as though I am intruding on Tank / Healer territory if I did that. I don't know why exactly, but that's how I feel. I try to explain mechanics sometimes, but usually only if it seems like I am the most experienced player in the group and we failed once already - which is not optimal, of course, but.

Yeah the queues are pretty bad. Sometimes I just let the game run in the background and do something else while I am waiting but sometimes I just use the time to do some gathering, and especially shards. I still am only at Miner lvl 25 and I want to cry when I think about leveling it to 50 because it takes forever. DPS queues are nothing in comparison, I swear.

Yeah, it's not really difficulty that is the problem with Haukke - for me it is that things can go south so quickly - sometimes all it takes is a moment of distraction aaaand there's the wipe; also sometimes you get people (esp DPS) who don't know that they need to extinguish the lamps on the final boss, and don't do it if it's explained to them and just. Why.
(Also I've found that melee DPS sometimes don't get that if someone says 'LB' it usually means they should do the limitbreak? Because all the other ones are much more situational in their use? As BRD I've had to LB exactly one time so far, and only because the Healer was dead... I wish BRDs had a damage LB but I guess the 'Hey Bards have a supporting function' thing prevents that. Ah well.

Aurum Vale is the one with the Morbol and it's really annoying and i hate it :l
It's the only low level dungeon I regularly roulette into and have trouble because someone messes up. Normally you don't even see the '30 Minutes left' thing, right? Well. The last full Aurum Vale run I had had us finishing with 4 minutes left because the tank kept running into the Morbol aoe that places many nasty debuffs on anyone in it and the second DPS didn't even try to kill the adds (which would have been helpful because you have at least two waves of them and I can't waste all my TP on the first one because I won't be able to do anything about the second one then), we were swarmed, the Healer ran out of MP and got one-shot by something we couldn't identify... just awful. Though of course I had runs that were fine and smooth, but the amount of bad ones is extraordinarily high in this one.

Also: Sastasha HM is becoming the high level dungeon I really hate - I was just really unlucky with the Parties in there, and also the second and third boss but the second one in particular are annoying as hell :l

Stone Vigil is alright though - I don't get how the last boss works, and the patrolling trash enemies can be kind of annoying if someone aggroes them by accident but all in all it's not so bad; I wouldn't worry about that one too much.

@foolishfang Yeah, I am scared of Titan EX. I will probably put it off once I unlock it because I am kind of scared and awful at dodging aoes :l I will attempt Garuda EX though, and maybe Leviathan (because Levi HM was really easy? Once I figured out not to hit his head with physical attacks, that is - before I died twice to that mechanic though, and no one even told me? It was strange. )

@patches ah, no worries, i've been busy most of the day anyway. xD that's true about tank abilities, although the particular hest i described was level 20 i believe, so they really didn't have that much of an excuse to not be able to pull enemies efficiently. .________. i mean i always try to run toward the tank when i have enemies on me if they don't notice right away but i always laugh after because it probably looks like such a ridiculous image to the rest of the people in the party. what is that healer doing why are they suddenly running straight at the tank-- it makes sense in context of course, but i still imagine it to be pretty silly to the people who aren't me when it happens lmao. i just ran brayflox's longstop for the first time today and i was amazed because i actually got armor drops that i needed??????? what is this insanity man it's always disciple of war stuff. i didn't get any comms though which i found funny and i think it was partially because i got almost all the drops. xD actually i uploaded a picture with the new armor, so here's a couple screenshots of my character. i'm starting to grow more fond of the look of armor as i level up. when i first started it was so hideous. ;w; i still can't wait to get to the higher level stuff though because i know there's a lot better looking armor than this too. i just need to keep motivating myself to level a single job and stick with it because i get so distracted and end up just gathering more jobs instead of actually leveling one to be able to progress in the story. it's such a problem. i'll probably end up running it another time soon to see if i can grab any more pieces of that gear set before i move on. i really need to get a weapon upgrade too but i want to be able to find another one-handed one so i can continue using a shield. that thing is a godsend.
[sub]@Ena Oh, well then it's just strange. But yeah, I get the same feeling when I run to them to give them my mobs, though at least I don't have to sacrifice my damage to do so... well. I still do because I can't press that many buttons while also running and getting the camera into position but still. As for the other people - I don't think they think it's silly; I've heard lots of tanks thank the healer for it, because it just makes things more convenient for them I believe, so... It still is kinda funny though. Oh, that's the Battlemage set, right? It does look neat; also those cat ears in the hat :D Honestly though, DoM gear isn't so bad - at least you won't have to deal with harnesses and subligars ... I shudder when I think of the times I had to use those because they are just so ugly and awkward and nonsensical - not that much of the in-game armor makes sense, mind you, but they really are above all else imho. (Also: The Coliseum Gear... yeah ...) Yeah Brayflox is pretty cool :D It also looks really nice - until you get up to the bleak mountain part, that is. I really dig the jungle aesthetic though. Heh, for me it's always DoM stuff that drops and I cry because I want pretty armor for glamours too. Also I need to farm Brayflox HM for a bit because I really want the Shikaree Boots and Gloves - I already have the body and legs, and I love them a lot and I want to glamour my armor to look like it but it looks awkward without fitting gloves / boots :l These is the set I'm talking about btw. (Also my character ! She's so pretty ♥ ) High level armor generally is prettier, yeah. Also: I will envy you a lot once you get the Daystar stuff because I love the Daystar stuff... but I don't wanna level a healer to make use of it... but it's so pretty. Heh, leveling a single job can get pretty boring, I get that. The last few levels are the worst... I think I just did them with FATES? It was around the time ROG / NIN was released so there were lots of FATE parties just with people grinding those last levels - it was very boring but also kinda fun but I generally just love doing things in parties. Made the Atma farm bearable too - it took me like 7 / 8 hours and I have doubles of half of them so it's really not that bad - maybe I've just been extraordinarily lucky though. Now I'm doing the Book stuff to upgrade the relic and it's infinitely worse :l But yeah leveling a single job can be boring but also I really have a lot more fun with the level 50 content I've done so far than the low level stuff? Maybe because it's still kinda new, but idk. It just is a lot more interesting, I suppose. Also, again - armor aesthetics just get better :D Also OH MY GOD the story. I finished the story yesterday, including the Patch 2.55 content and I am internally screaming. I am so glad I started paying attention to it once I hit the endgame because honestly it became a lot more interesting than the stuff until then? I just. WOAH. WHAT. I can't wait for Heavensward I need it now. I need more information, more story, more everything. It's worth making progress for it - honestly. @Adelon Oh, you were able to attend the fanfest? I would have loved to, but no locations near enough to me and ... yeah. It did sound amazing, from what I've heard. Maybe I'll make it whenever it happens again, assuming it does :l Also wow I am infinitely jealous of anyone who can afford a house. I'm glad if I have like 200k and then I look at plot prices and cry - not that there are any unclaimed plots anyway, but y'know.

I also play XIV. I play a catgirl. Mostly a white mage, but occasionally do bard. I started in October after the ARR re-release and I've managed to grind out every job to 50 and get them all reasonably geared. I played WoW for a while and was a raider, and a somewhat hardcore one during Throne of Thunder and Siege of Orgrimmar, but the current WoW expansion is kind of boring imo, so I've sunk most of my time into FFXIV instead. Here's a picture of my character: I finished my White Mage relic (Nirvana Zeta) and am working on the Yoichi Bow for bard right now. I'm also a raider, and cleared Turn 13 of Coil as well. :] I'm on Excalibur if anyone else is, but I also have an alt with the same name on Balmung. Edit: Whoops, sorry about the side-scrolling. I thought FR forums would resize but I'm still new here so what do I know? >>; If I weren't at work I would crop the image and fix it. D:

Bard is pretty great because of the kiting. It's also pretty fun since it does have some support moves as well (MP regen and TP regen) which is great when you're in a dungeon to support tanks and mages (I'm not sure why the tanks use so much MP sometimes, but they do).

My fav part of the DPS is just the ability to just focus on attacking. Although, I hate when I go into a dungeon and the tank doesn't mark which targets to go after first. It can be pretty hard to follow the battle otherwise as it just looks like a massive cluster and I don't have enough experience in the dungeons to actively mark them myself (plus, ps4 controller is so hard to function with at times.)

We haven't even finished the main quest line yet... it's pretty intimidating I feel. We're probably not going to ever get into a lot of the hardcore end game content (Extreme- No thank you) since we're just not really that *hardcore* of players.

FFXIV is a pretty great game, but it's hard to be a casual player sometimes. If you're doing a dungeon, you're often expected to know what you're doing, even if it's your first time doing it, and it can be frustrating when trying to get through a lot of the content. Having a friend or joining a free company goes a long way when playing and makes everything a lot easier. But man, instances are rough...

@Ena I'm on hiatus for now (and playing XI during it. Haaah), but I'm planning on heading back to XIV soon to get ready for Heavensward! I play two Lalafell, one much more than the other but here they are:

My main's name is Meira Ignitas~ Almost professional MNK @ lvl 43! oh gosh so many posts to reply to.

@Adelon
oh man, that sounds so awesome. i'd love to go to things like that now that i'm actually starting to get into the game more. i heard about the conference for heavensward that was in boston in march but it was before i really played.

@Patches
you say isn't so bad but dear god the first robe upgrade i got was literally the color of vomit and it was so bulky it looked absolutely awful. xD admittedly once i got started leveling conjurer and thaumaturge i got low-level robes that don't look nearly as bad but really, what did arcanist do to deserve getting a puke green robe when conjurer and thaumaturge get a pretty normal looking white and black.

but yeah, it's the battlemage set! i did another run of brayflox last night and got the battlemage breeches as well, so i'm considering just running it a couple more to see if i can nab the gloves and belt and have the entire set. i do really need to level thaumaturge to get swiftcast though. i've been hurting without it when i really need to use raise. but that also requires encouraging myself to just level for more jobs instead of leveling to 50 because the 26 i need for swiftcast is so close to just getting black mage at 30. such dilemmas. ;w;

your character is so cute though aaaaaa. i should get some better screenshots of mine soon but i was just happy about finally having some presentable armor.

@Tahla
oh wow that staff looks so awesome. ;w; all of the relic weapons look pretty cool when they're upgraded, actually. i want to be motivated enough to get that far lmao.

@Dxlyaxe
ohhhhhh yes mage's ballad as someone who mainly plays disciple of magic classes that has saved my life so many times already. i hate running dungeons without a bard around because i always end up running out of mp at some point when it's really crucial. i've been having that issue running brayflox actually, it's hard to keep up with healing when the tank is losing a third of their hp at once sometimes.

the idea of fighting the extremes terrifies me at this point tbh, but all my friends run extremes so i'll probably have to brave them eventually. xD rip me.

@Meeshster
gaaaaaah lalafells are so cute. :c i always laugh when there are any of them in my party though, especially when i'm standing anywhere near them because miqo'te are not tall but they still look like giants next to the lalafells. xD

I play FFXIV: AAR! I try to play about once a week or so, often for several hours at a time. I've been having a lot of fun playing through the story with my girlfriend and some friends. She's currently a Lalafel Warrior, and I'm a Miqo'te Summoner/Scholar. I've also dabbled in Thamaturge and Conjurer.

I actually just hit level 50 last week, and I'm almost to the first 8-main dungeon in the game. I admit I'm a little worried about that, but it seems like most of the roulette players on my server are repeaters so I imagine it'll go smoothly.

I'm really looking forward to Heavenwards. I'm even saving up for a collector's edition to get the statue of the dragon. Likely we'll both make second characters on our server that are Au Ra and try out different classes. I'm even considering tanking!
