And I understand some of the choices in the grouping now. I went by lore, but I do understand that most people probably want to go by appearance, as more people are inclined to look at pictures than go through a great deal of text (descriptions, news posts, lore articles).

Yeah, you're right, so many familiars look like at least two different things. Maybe it's not the greatest idea.
I have no idea is serpentas and chimeras are in any way related. My main source for lore is the familiars' descriptions, although some of them are decidedly unhelpful in that department (see Candycane Xolo for an example). This one time they released lore articles about the Beastclans, those can be found in the Encyclopedia. Other times there's a news post with new familiars, and there might be a sentence or two there about them (other than where to find them), but I feel like either that's really rare or it's just been a really long time since I actually read a news post rather than just skimming through it.
Sorry I don't have solid answers, but I hope it's helpful anyway. I fully understand if you don't want to go through 80 pages of bestiary in order to read all the descriptions, though :D
The forums are still a bit iffy about loading the tooltips for any linked items. This [item=Candycane Xolo] might or might not work right now, and might or might not work the next time the page is refreshed. Otherwise this thread would be a great place to go through the descriptions, at least they're all in the same page.

I'm not sure if the catch-all group would work because most if not all of the familiars contain elements from more than two categories (part machine, part stone, part fish, plant-like, scaled, winged, etc.). It can get very big and messy if I dump all the cross-category familiars in lol.
Also do you know if serpentas and chimeras are related lore-wise? Where can I find the lores for familiars?

Thanks! Would you like to be included in the general pinglist so that you can get notification every update?

@ZxwxZ, thank you for asking, but I won’t join the pinglist. I intend to visit this thread to see which familiars would best match my dragons’ colour schemes.
