Quick question--when it comes to items that can drop from all monsters, is there a best place to farm? I would assume it would be whichever venue allows you to battle the most enemies per minute.

Yes, if the drop rate is the same in all the venues. This is the table I made for Springswarm: Scorched Forest and Forgotten Cave are the best places, only 3.85 seconds/monster.
