They will carve out small basins and niches to roost in the Greatwyrn's Breach and infest whole catacombs in the Cairnstone Rest using their magic to subdue any skeletons. In the Shattered Plain Earth Fae dragons are known for making massive structures similar to termite mounds to hold their vast numbers. While colonies are smaller in size then their native Arcane cousins that does not mean hundreds of Fae in one colony are an uncommon sight. To survive they make elaborate insect traps if they aren't close to a regular food source. Small numbers making journeys will often hitch rides with other breeds in exchange for getting rid of any pests. Like all other Fae breeds it is noted they have crest motions unique to their Flight.
[emoji=guardian happy size=2]GUARDIAN[emoji=guardian happy size=2]
Earth Guardians are some of the most dedicated to their charges, and the most likely to fall into mourning and die should that charge be lost. It didn't take very long for some of the less...... Morally solid individuals of the world to think up a way to take advantage of this. And thus was created the practice of "Charge-Trapping", a brutal form of slave trafficking in which a Guardian's charge is held hostage and threatened with destruction in order to ensure their total cooperation, the psychological stress of which alone can easily cause them to snap, to say nothing of what other forms of torment they may be subjected to. All guardians of the world are legitimately threatened by this and live in fear of it every day but none moreso than the Guardians of Earth, who's particularly strong dedication to their charges makes them ideal captives. Victims of this practice are typically called "Charge-Thralls".
[emoji=mirror happy size=2]MIRROR[emoji=mirror happy size=2]
Earth Mirrors are some of the most practical of all Mirror types. They only ever carry what they absolutely need and their monuments serve as both historical landmarks and lairs for the roaming packs. Their packs are more stable and smaller with swarms only taking place when prey is abundant and for mating. Packs will cross ways with each other to exchange information on where prey has already been hunted so they don't waste time going where there's no food. They are also amongst the most amiable Mirrors as they often will be found in the company of Snappers following their ancestral routes. They stick mainly to the borders of other lands and the coastline where they fish, the Shattered Plain is the least populated area for Earth Mirrors. Several packs have been known to actually settle for long periods of time around the Cairnstone Rest to mine or lend their battle prowess to those unlucky enough to have woken the dead.
[emoji=pearlcatcher happy size=2]PEARLCATCHER[emoji=pearlcatcher happy size=2]
Earthen born Pearlcatchers tend to be bigger in size, and as a result, typically are found with larger pearls and horns than most other elemental Pearlcatchers. These thicker horns are used to carve directly into the tough rock when their claws aren't enough, assisting in their natural architectural skills. Earth born or otherwise, pearlcatchers oftentimes thrive in Earthhome. Due to the flatter landscape of the Shattered Plain, newer Pearlcatcher lairs oftentimes begin with burrowed holes dug intimidatingly deep into the ground in order to find necessary resources, and then topped over with their usual towers, thus doubling the height of livable tower space. If not made in this way, then towers are simply carved directly into the rock of mountains, plateaus, or other such structures. Pearlcatchers sent to serve the Earthshaker are invaluable to him in preserving the Pillar of the World.
[emoji=imperial size=1]IMPERIAL[emoji=imperial size=1] [emoji=tundra happy size=2]TUNDRA[emoji=tundra happy size=2] [emoji=spiral happy size=2]SPIRAL[emoji=spiral happy size=2]
The term "noodle" is especially appropriate for Earth Spirals - they tend to be much, much more slender than their kin in other flights. They use their lean bodies and large eyes to wriggle through the smallest of cracks in the bedrock of Dragonhome, exploring and excavating where other dragons wouldn't fit.
[emoji=snapper happy size=2]SNAPPER[emoji=snapper happy size=2] Encyclopedia Article [emoji=wildclaw size=1]WILDCLAW[emoji=wildclaw size=1]
Most Earth Wildclaw clans can trace their roots to the east cliffs of Dragonhome where Nature Wildclaws first made landfall from across the strait. Many migrated or journeyed westward to the Cairnstone Rest where they would become well known for being mercenaries to fight skeletal wyrms or grave robbers. Of the eleven types of Wildclaws they have some of the best relations with their Nature cousins. With Ancestor Worship being a cornerstone of Earth dragons of all breeds elaborate family trees are often carves into the floor and walls of their dens and they will do so for anyone who had won their respect. In mixed breed clans they can often recite every member who has been even vaguely connected to their clan from memory. Hospitality is big to Earth Wildclaws because unlike Nature cousins they have become adept at traveling long distances and so providing room to the travelers is a way to improve their status. Many a pair of Wildclaws have been employed as runners, messengers and delivery dragons when Courier dragons can't be found.
[emoji=nocturne happy size=2]NOCTURNE[emoji=nocturne happy size=2]
Dragonhome is a dangerous place for Nocturnes. With nothing but themselves and an endless expanse of sand and rocks for miles around, many simply lie down to mimic the rocks in desperation and die. Nocturnes travelling through Dragonhome are always strongly advised to take at least one guide to prevent this.
[emoji=skydancer size=1]SKYDANCER[emoji=skydancer size=1]
Skydancers of the Earth variety are vastly different than their Wind cousins. Most Skydancers living in Dragonhome choose to remain earth-bound most of their time, choosing instead to map ancient ley lines and uncover secrets in ancient tombs. Their sensitivity to magical energies makes these tasks very easy, and helps them not to disturb the slumbering skeletal wyrms. The Skydancers living in this harsh region choose to nest near the borders (where food is plentiful), or deep underground where water is less scarce and subterranean plants can be grown. Since flight amongst this branch is less common, it is not uncommon to see Skydancers here sporting crystalline feathers, and those with high magical aptitude often have crystals growing from their bodies (Crystalhide items)
[emoji=coatl happy size=2]COATL[emoji=coatl happy size=2]
Though far from the forges of the waste, Coatls of Dragonhome still posess an affinity for heat and metals. Instead of spending their time at the forge, they spend it down in the mines, hard at work digging for precious metals and jewels. It is for this reason that Coatl miners are highly valued. When not otherwise occupied they will often sun themselves on rocks or roll around in the sand to "Bathe" themselves.

a dusty boy fresh from the mines some bonus physical differences - the head crest is usually lowered for easy travel through tunnels. the buttwings (?) are unusually dexterous, and are used as an extra pair of back legs to move dirt. the claws are more blunt than the average coatl's, but only because they're worn down while digging. earth coatls remain in close contact with their fire cousins, so there aren't any vast physical differences.
[emoji=ridgeback happy size=2]RIDGEBACK[emoji=ridgeback happy size=2] [emoji=bogsneak happy size=2]BOGSNEAK[emoji=bogsneak happy size=2]
Earth Bogsneaks are even more rarely found than others of their kind; in order to find the damp environments they prefer, they burrow deep into the rock of Dragonhome to the water tables below. In these dank caverns, it can be months or years before a Bogsneak sees another of its kind, let alone any other species of Dragon. They make excellent hydrogeologists and are often recruited to help parched clans find aquifers below the rocky desert.
[emoji=gaoler happy size=2]GAOLER[emoji=gaoler happy size=2]
Earth Gaolers help contain skeletal wyrms when dragons accidentally break into old crypts without damaging the bones so they don't desecrate the ancestors.
[emoji=banescale happy size=2]BANESCALE[emoji=banescale happy size=2] ______________ ______________ [Item=fire runestone]FIRE[Item=fire runestone] [emoji=fae happy size=2]FAE[emoji=fae happy size=2]
Much like Lightning Fae, Fire Fae build their nests as amalgamations of metal and heat-resistant sap with some obsidian thrown in. Of the Fae types their lairs are the most spaced out since heat is the last thing they need to worry about even if it largely doesn't bother them, they also like the space for all their projects. They tend to be the most eccentric smiths, forging anything that crosses their mind at any moment. Many a project has gotten scrapped or shelved because half-way through the Fae had a stroke of inspiration for something completely different. Many Fire Fae clans also find themselves commissioned for the smaller but extremely necessary parts that other breeds have a harder time making. Not only that but due to their inherent grasp of elemental magic they have many forging techniques that no other breed can accomplish which lead to many new components that are exclusively Fae-made. Like all Fae they have crest motions unique to their flight.
[emoji=guardian happy size=2]GUARDIAN[emoji=guardian happy size=2]
While most guardians will embark on a search to find a charge that already exists, it is not uncommon for Fire guardians to end up creating their own charge. Due to their large size and immense strength, Fire guardians are often employed in large infrastructure projects, such as bridges and factories. Often when these projects are completed, the guardian will gaze upon their work and realize they have just found their charge. They will then devote their life to the continued improvement of this location.
[emoji=mirror happy size=2]MIRROR[emoji=mirror happy size=2]
Something about the heat of the Ashfall Waste causes Fire Mirrors to act most un-Mirror like. Of all the Mirror types they are the most prone to settling in a territory, having one den and never leaving and yet not exhaust their food supply, even their eating habits and need to eat are different. That is not to say they don't feel hunger but it seems to have changed to a cyclical event that they feel more intensely then the constant but low-grade hunger that other Mirrors experience. Because of this elaborate feasts are common place instead of the whenever, whereever eating habits of other Mirror types. They also exhibit the strange need to feed everyone around them no matter species or flight, Fire Mirrors are some of the best cooks to exist. There's nothing on Sorneith like eating at a Fire Mirror pack feast, you'll always walk away full if you can walk at all. Many mixed-breed Fire clans run their clocks by the resident Mirrors hunger cycle. Other Fire breeds will say that Fire Mirrors having inherited the Flamecaller's Hearth Fire more then any other breed and that's the cause for their odd habits. Never mistake this for them being weaker then other Mirrors though, a Fire Mirror with a flared temper is as unstoppable as a raging wildfire, a whole angry pack is akin to a volcano erupting. Fire Mirrors are known to have differently structured eyes that see more variation in heat signatures to compensate for the already high temperatures in the Waste that blind other Mirrors. Contrary to rumor they can still see differences in colder temperatures rather then just seeing everything as cold, they just see it as the standard Mirror variation.
[emoji=pearlcatcher happy size=2]PEARLCATCHER[emoji=pearlcatcher happy size=2]
It should come as no surprise that even Fire Pearlcatchers would not stoop so low as to work in an ash-ridden forge and work metal like any other dragon. Other elements might but cleary the Fire Pearlcatchers believe themselves to be in the same light as their Light cousins. Yet the forge still calls to them, so where can they turn to fulfill both sides of their nature? This quest has led them to the art of glass making. The precision and finesse of the art and the beautiful result while avoiding much of the dirt has enthralled many a Fire Pearlcatcher, some have even gone so far as to build their homes out of it or mix the molten silicate with their pearls when they add new layers! Some have taken up the art of grinding it into shape and others look to expand their craft and take it to new heights and down new routes, even if that means they have to get a little dirty. They all reach for mastery of the art, some of those masters have made art that blends the play of rainbow Light and the fine forging of Fire so seamlessly it's impossible to tell which diety had more of a hand in it's making.
[emoji=imperial size=1]IMPERIAL[emoji=imperial size=1]
Imperials tend to fluctuate the least between flights due to their drive in taking up traditional professions being the standard. Fire Imperials are known to forge highly personalized gifts for those they care for; warriors get weapons, cooks get pots and knives, smiths and farmers get tools, etc. They practice most Imperial Funeral Rights but some have changed due to the unique environment of the Ashfall Waste...and it's forging techniques. Rumors of lava burials are the most accepted though the rumors of what they do with the bones left behind, unable to melt...if the bones are the only things left to use. There's terrible rumors of Imperials forging using blood and scales of the dead and no one can definitely prove it true or false. The reason for the rumors seems to stem from an old legend involving an Imperial being told by the Flamecaller that his afterlife would be undisturbed so long as all his bones(or 'parts', the legend in unclear) were forged anew.
[emoji=tundra happy size=2]TUNDRA[emoji=tundra happy size=2]
[columns] [nextcol]Fur very short and wiry, exposed skin is extra thick and resistant to whatever the weather conditions may be.[/columns]
[emoji=spiral happy size=2]SPIRAL[emoji=spiral happy size=2]
Spirals, due to their burrowing instincts, make expert miners in the Ashfall Waste. They are adept at following small cracks down into the depths of the volcanic earth in order to find new veins of metals for smiths and craftsmen to work with.
[emoji=snapper happy size=2]SNAPPER[emoji=snapper happy size=2]
Some fire Snappers with particularly large wings are actually able to glide a little on thermals from the lava in this area.
[emoji=wildclaw size=1]WILDCLAW[emoji=wildclaw size=1]
The strict hierarchy of Wildclaws has caused many Fire Wildclaw clans to run like well-oiled machines, many such clans have been jokingly called factories instead with how they work with almost mechanical precision, teamwork and timing to make things in bulk. In the Waste the best smiths are awarded the best positions and are allowed more freedom in forging in turn. Periodical tournaments are held to re-establish the hierarchy to see if anyone has gotten better or worse. With forging skill being one of the deciding factors it's considered especially insulting for a smith challenge to be issued and then failed badly by the challenger. Such Wildclaws are often shunned for a period for being especially foolish to not know their own measure before being allowed back into normal society. Trial by fire is the rule, though where most would expect failure or quitting to be scorned the fact that the dragon tried at all is respected as is knowing one's limits. Self-improvement is highly respected. They take the saying 'Don't ask a hammer to do a pot's job or a sword to do a necklace's.' to heart. Fire Wildclaws are surprisingly good jewelry makers and you can tell a Wildclaws status by how much they wear and how well-forged their jewelry is. You can also tell most any dragon bonded to a Fire Wildclaw because they'll be decked out in their best pieces.
[emoji=nocturne happy size=2]NOCTURNE[emoji=nocturne happy size=2] [emoji=skydancer size=1]SKYDANCER[emoji=skydancer size=1]
Skydancers of the Fire Flight have one noticable difference for their various counterparts, instead of their orb being translucent or gem-like it takes on a metallic color and feel. It is also noted that Fire Skydancers have more pointed antennae, it's been theorized that the naturally hot-blooded and passionate natures of Fire dragons have caused some difference in their innate empathy but all asked pointedly refuse to say. Fire Skydancers are known for their special kind of colliering where they dive into the burning woods of the Scorched Forest and retrieve coals and embers for smiths to use. Their Wind roots help them interpret the change of winds and avoid being trapped or sucked up by changing air currents and pressure. In their relentless expansion the Fae in Earth have had to resort to vastly different techniques to build homes for their colonies though like all Fae they settle in magically rich places by instinct, the leylines in Earth are well known because of this.

When not otherwise occupied they will often sun themselves on rocks or roll around in the sand to "Bathe" themselves.

some bonus physical differences - the head crest is usually lowered for easy travel through tunnels. the buttwings (?) are unusually dexterous, and are used as an extra pair of back legs to move dirt. the claws are more blunt than the average coatl's, but only because they're worn down while digging. earth coatls remain in close contact with their fire cousins, so there aren't any vast physical differences.

Often when these projects are completed, the guardian will gaze upon their work and realize they have just found their charge.

FAE
Endeavour wrote on 2016-07-28:
Water Fae, like other dragons of the Water flight, are often gifted with prophetic abilities. Due to their natural magical acumen, they are often the most trusted of seers and oracles, their monotone voices, at least as perceived by other dragons, as sounding wiser than others in the same profession. Those Fae who are not seers or oracles are often spiritual leaders or powerful mages, and are well-respected among other flights. Like all Fae, they have crest motions unique to their flight.
SakuraOkami7 wrote on 2016-11-30:
xtwVMfp.png These species of Fae often look much different than the average. And unlike them, their small body and many frills actually aid them well in the water, propelling them like a fish.

Even if the Fae had not been born with spines, there is a long crest that imitates the look of it; most unsure what they are for, and even most first generation hatchlings have this unusual trait. Normally, their frills grow out to be almost twice as long, and some misguided travelers may confuse them for small sea monsters. Some are also born with fangs, but they are unnoticeable to the untrained eye - fortunately, the Fae's main diet has not changed much in spite of this; they most feed on tough underwater plants, and bugs that float near the surface.
GUARDIAN
MIRROR
Endeavour wrote on 2016-07-28:
Water Mirrors, like other dragons of the Water flight, are gifted with prophetic abilities. Packs of Water Mirrors are often traveling storytellers, tarot card readers, or other forums of fortune-telling. Their wandering nature makes them excellent dowsers, as Mirror travel rivals any Wind dragon's. Water Mirrors are also more likely to carry the culture of various flights with them, and prevalent traditions often reflect where they have traveled most often. These Mirrors tend to be gentle in temperament, and, if they are not the seers of their clan, can often be seen looking after hatchlings, gardens, or familiars.
Hydria wrote on 2016-08-25:
Many people see packs of Mirrors acting just like real life wolves. What are the wolves of the sea? Orca whales.
I see packs of Water Mirrors acting just like orcas. They roam in highly social "pods" and are split into two main types: fish-eaters (Residents) that use clever tactics to herd fish and meat-eaters (Transients) that hunt marine mammals such as seals and play with their food by lobbing it into the air, passing it around, tearing it apart, etc...
Despite their seemingly savage nature, these Mirrors are quite social and loving within their own groups.
Violetah wrote on 2017-04-07:
While in other Flights the sharply defined ribs of Mirrors are just that, in Water Mirrors they are actually gill slits. They breathe in water like air, but instead of breathing the water out, it is instead pumped out of the lungs through the gill slits, and this is how they breath. They can switch to breathing air like a normal dragon when they're not in the water, but they will need to get rid of all the water in their lungs first to do so.
PEARLCATCHER
Kumie wrote on 2018-03-06 18:35:04:
Headcanon: Water Pearlcatchers have some of the most interesting pearls. Some of them look like abnormally large oyster pearls, but a lot more are semi-transparent and slightly iridescent, almost like the Tidelord's prophecy bubbles. They are also the most partial of Water dragons to pearls, and will often exchange information for interesting pearls. Surprisingly (or not, depending on your viewpoint) Water Pearlcatchers are one of the best dragons at deciphering some of the Tidelord's more cryptic mutterings. Their manes are water-proof and dry quickly, and their whiskers are one of the most sensitive, allowing them to navigate their way through pitch-black ocean canyons and silty ocean floors. Their ears and nostrils are slightly elastic and a bit stretchier than other dragons', allowing them to close both opening completely. While most of them use their elemental magic to breathe, a few that have had Water ancestors (or a direct Guardian parent) may have gills, usually shallow slits located where the neck meets the torso (although there have been cases of gills located near ribs, or, in the case of one befuddled Arcane pair, on the tail).

They do have the desire to roam common among all Wind dragons, but that can usually be satisfied by digging multiple caves and periodically moving moving between them.

Wind Gaolers basically act like police because the region just doesn't have the same natural dangers the others do and most of them are ground bound, though that might actually appeal to many Shade-infected beasts. They're the second most likely to leave their region to help other Gaolers.

Even if a Shadow Pearlcatcher is far from their element's home, that doesn't stop the amount of knowledge they know on others to be lesser than others. Perhaps, just a bit more likely to be spoken of.

A Shadow Snapper remembers just as well as any other, but don't expect them to tell you about any of it. Shadow Snappers take their knowledge to their graves, entire chunks of history often going with them.

Secrets and mystery are the cornerstone of Shadow Wildclaw behavior with betting and bartering on top. Much like their Light cousins they are radically different from their original Nature cousins but they go about it in the opposite manner. The name of the game is how much others don't know about any individual Wildclaw, if you want to learn anything then they have to be willing to tell you and even then sometimes what they say is a lie or a half-truth, such behavior does not breed trust but it is as it is. The only surefire way to get real information is for it to be bartered or bet as that and prank wars have taken the place of honor duels and the Shadow Wildclaws still have enough pride to hold true to them. More then most flights they tend to bond with other breeds as partners due to aforementioned trust issues and so are often seen as more solitary since they still hunt alone. They'll often chase prey into corners or disadvantageous positions before striking.
Encyclopedia Article
Since they're master mimics, some Nocturnes, like chameleons or octopi, are able to change the color of their scales to match their surroundings or moods. Some Nocturnes can change the color of their entire body (extra rare), while some can only change their primary/secondary/tertiary color. Color changing Nocs in general are uncommon. Blind Nocturnes are able to navigate almost perfectly via echolocation. Nocturnes that live in dark habitats, such as the Tangled Wood, are especially adept at echolocating. Nocturnes that live in brighter habitats tend to be worse at it. Nocturnes from different flights have very different traits and characteristics - both personality and physical. For example, an Earth-born Nocturne may have shorter/duller horns, smaller wings, shorter tails, and sturdier legs, while Nocturnes born in Arcane might have flashy frills, crystalline horns, and dexterous talons. Whether it be alone by themselves, or in works with breeds like Spirals and Nocturnes, the plays and music they can produce in the night is a wonderful rival to the abilities of other flights. With their ability to sense the emotions of the crowds they play in front of, they can expand upon their stories so that no one performance will end the same as the last, even if it's the same story, and the crowd can be near perfectly involved. The only reason their shows are less publicly known about is that most are held only on special occasions, and near solely in the Tangled Wood for its atmosphere helps them have less work to do in setting up that would take away from the performance. The shows they play can become so rare, it can almost be regarded as one of the secrets the Shadow Flight has in their crescent shadows.

Headcanons or art work: Coatls from the Shadow Flight are most destined to be excluded from most of the other Coatls and Flights. The vibrant colors of their plumage have been traded off for a camouflage of dark and murky colors to fit in with the style of the Tangled Wood. The closest relation they still have with the other Coatls is the occasional bright cyan spot or smudge along their body, replicating the glowing mushrooms that dot the tree's and floor of the Shadow's Domain. Because of their colors, they are seen as a bad omen to other Coatls, and confrontations with them can end unpleasantly. Some Shadow Coatls completely hide themselves from the eyes of any other dragon, Coatl or not, and their gifts are not of direct peace - it is more of a warning to leave the area.

A Shadow Ridgeback could be a true nightmare to most breeds. Despite their large size, they can move around with little distinguishable sound, blending in with the wind circling the tree's, the movement of the water, the crumbling of the rocks in the caves they've created. A Shadow Ridgeback is rarely heard from, either. Their borrowing can never be traced back to the exact Ridgeback, and only assumptions can be made. A clans resources could be depleting faster than ever, and no matter how hard they look, the only evidence every left is a giant hole in their walls leading far out of the clan, but never the Ridgeback itself. The items they borrow are rarely ever found again, too. It's like the Shadow Ridgebacks own secrets - where their belongings are, and what they are. The only thing that can find a Shadow Ridgeback's borrowed items, is another Shadow Ridgeback. The Drifwood Drag is as close to a natural habitat for the species, being perfect for their wet, rotting lairs. Because of this, Shadow Bogsneaks tend to be even more territorial. There are many Bogsneaks, regardless of Flight, that covet the muck, and so Shadow Bogsneaks will cover their territory with tricks and booby traps to keep others out. Arcane: Pink Freshwater - the kind that are sorta wonky
Nature: Green Freshwater
Lightning: White South Sea - perfectly cultured and streamlined
Wind: Paua Abalone
Ice: White or Grey Akoya
Earth: Melo - not technically a pearl, but they just fit Earth better than any shellfish pearls I could find
Fire: Red Metallic Souffle

Also this idea uses a lot of my personal ideas about the transition from the third age to the fourth age/ the age of dragons, and I'm always up for talking about it, so if anyone is interested give me a ping!

If one could forget their origins in Light and accept the Shadows, a Pearlcatcher born from the Tangled Wood would be a perfect host in the many secrets of other dragons, in or out of the Flight. Each Pearlcatcher holds a library's worth of knowledge on other dragons, all of which documented into their pearls, and at a trade off or high price, you can learn some of the most well kept secrets and truths behind common rumors on anything you wish.

A Shadow dragon does not share secrets. Every single thing they know and no one else does is one more advantage they have, and one more thing others can use against them if they find out.

Shadow Skydancers can be well known for their abilities to entertain other dragons.

Headcanons or art work:
Coatls from the Shadow Flight are most destined to be excluded from most of the other Coatls and Flights.

According to the Encyclopedia, "It takes a strong will for adult dragons to resist the urge to return "home" during mating season." http://flightrising.com/main.php?p=wiki&article=25 So my thinking is that the Ice Coatls, who live basically a short swim away from The Ashfall Waste, would have to have very strong wills to overcome their instinct to return there to mate.

in response to SunnyToxicBunny Kurogami To add to the ice coatl thing, do you think perhaps its possible that they're also better able to resist that urge because ice is so cold, which is the opposite of fire. Their choice of communication included deep squawks and warbles and huddles in large crowds for warmth and these huddles can get toasty enough to metal snow around them.
They live in areas closest to the general direction of fire flight.
Instead of giving gifts of metal they give gifts of bone.

Regarding the Ice Coatls, I reckon not only are they physically a little different from their Fiery kin but are also most likely more mentally disciplined than them.
What do you think?

To add to the ice coatl thing, do you think perhaps its possible that they're also better able to resist that urge because ice is so cold, which is the opposite of fire. Perhaps living in such a cold environment lowers their body temperature or something, so they aren't attracted to the heat of the Ashfall Waste as much (because they've become used to the cold).

They split the hierarchy by age; hatchling, adolescent and adult. The hatchlings are ranked by how much innate magic they have upon birth and that defines the first part of their lives regardless of growth. Afterward when they reach adolescent they are tasked to learn spells and re-ranked by their innate magic but this rank can be changed by the amount of spells learned. Adult Arcane Wildclaws add making spells into the mix as well as finding new uses for old spells but in return the adults are usually to distracted to care much for minute rank changes and and will merely swap rooms as needed or for favors. They also have a habit of sharing rooms with those they are collaborating with so rooms are bigger in general. It's noted of the Arcane breeds, they are perhaps one of the most well-rooted but that just means they spend just as long looking down and around as they do looking up. Mirrors of the Arcane flight are librarians, whose packs form to preserve aging texts and tools. Sometimes, Mirrors of the flight even form library lairs, where other dragons can find books on almost any subject, while the lair's inhabitants work behind the scenes, ensuring that returned books are placed back on the shelves as quickly as possible, that fines are collected, and any books that are falling apart are bound again, so that the knowledge of the cosmos may be passed down for generations. They do not swarm, unless they are in relative danger as a group. Moreover, they have enchanted some telescopes to detect the temperature of stars, mimicking their heat-sensing eyes, so that those measurements can be recorded.

Arcane Wildclaws are bizarre.
