bonibaru I mean, if someone is determined to do the irrational thing, they can and will do it without a guide XD This thread is about not wasting money, and Lightweaver knows I wasted enough on my progens.

sQld one of my progens is L25 with elim and is my highly useful 2-fodder kelp beds trainer, who has made me millions of treasure during dom pushes and on merc duty, so I guess I bristle at you judging my choice as "irrational" but hey, to each their own. I have made more profit off of my progen than almost any other dragon in my lair. She made +3Mt profit (4Mt minus fodder expenses) mercing during shadow c fire :) Since a progen is basically a sunk cost there's no reason not to use them, IMO. If profit is important, and if you're lucky enough to be in an element that's useful for one of the higher level venue builds, why not? A free dragon plus a lucky elim drop and everything that comes after is pure profit, for one lair space (or two if you keep both). A much better margin than other dragons that I've spent more on. If you don't like their look, throw a free/dropped or brewed fest skin on them and use them to breed fodder to flip or to level :) none of that seems irrational to me.

bonibaru I'd say you lucked out on a very risky investment! Think of it this way: you gambled on still loving your progen a year later and you've won and now you get to be proud of the journey you've had together.
If you lost the gamble and decided to get rid of your progens, you'd have lost the chance to recoup some of the costs (sure, not all, but 500g is 500g), you'd have lost the opportunity to use the levels for Dom (because exalted progens don't count), and you'd have lost the opportunity to return the Eliminate into the economy, thus contributing to the stone's price inflation. That's a lot to lose.
And this particular gamble is easily avoided by choosing any other dragons for your team, at least until you find your way around the game and figure out how you really feel about your progens.

This guide is a life saver, thanks so much! It's concise and doesn't drag on forever about just ONE method. :)
@
Arxelon thank you, that's great to hear! <3 Concise and comprehensive is exactly what I was hoping to achieve *_*

@sQld
Thank you for making this guide! It's very comprehensive and contains basically everything.
I'd like to add something, if it's alright.

Chances are somebody did that already for the XXY's. Check out this guide and search for everything containing 'match' or 'accent':

Of course, it would probably take forever to breed toward specific combinations, but they are good starting points and visual guides.

@LynxSideris thank you! I should really revisit the guide: I think there are actually several new or updated game mechanics that it doesn't reflect :3
To tell you the truth, when I first made it, I was so passionate about breeding that I had to limit myself to the very basics or I'd go on about genes and colors forever [emoji=coatl laughing size=2]
But yeah! That's a great compilation of resources you've linked. I used to be particularly fond of this monster of a visual guide that someone had compiled back in the day when we only had PoiTox and PetButt. But then, they rolled out more multicolor genes that didn't necessarily adhere to one of the two color schemes. Now, I think it's about playing around in the Scrying Workshop to see what sticks, because sorta-matchy combos are endless.
