On the forums, using this code is very useful to display images (especially skins) quickly and easily. All you need to do is this. [code] [item=sand] [/code] and it will become this! So, what can you do to fix this problem? Technically, it can't be fixed. At the time there isn't a way to use the item=itemname code in bios and have it work. Luckily, it's not hard to use an alternative to this. Just right click the item you want to display and click "Copy Image Url" and put it inside of an [img] [/ img] code instead. Like this! [code][img]http://flightrising.com/images/cms/trinket/182.png[/img][/code] [img]http://flightrising.com/images/cms/trinket/182.png[/img] Wow! Basically the same thing and just as easy, huh? [b][u]Icons[/u][/b] Icons are not only something commonly used in bios, but used across forums in a variety of games and roleplays on Flight Rising. So, how do people get them, anyways? It's easy! If you want to make an icon of your dragon, go to the arrow at the top of the page by your username, and click "Change Avatar". You do not actually need to change your avatar to do this! When you find the icon of the dragon you want, right click and copy the url! But why doesn't it have a border around it like it appears to have on the forums? If you want borders around your icons, you need to put one in yourself. Save it to your computer and open it in MS Paint or Photoshop (or basically any other art program) and it will work perfectly! (if you want to keep the transparency in the icon, you need to use photoshop or another program that can handle transparency. If you put it in paint it will have a plain white background.) [img]http://i.imgur.com/BcqrUGE.png[/img] Ta-da! You can even edit the icons to portray different emotions if you like. [img]http://i.imgur.com/iBFJR1T.png[/img] Sadly, that is something I can't exactly teach, but it is not very hard to do in an art program. That wraps up my little bit of knowledge in coding / bio making! I hope you learned something from this. Bio-making Mini Guide by Lorde

Here's my guide inside of a guide! In this guide I'll be including information about BBCode and dragon bio-exclusive things that aren't normally included in your average BBCode guide.

For starters, this guide may require you to know basic information about BBCode. Visit this guide by aisumoka for reference!

Columns

Columns are extremely useful in bio making and are slowly gaining popularity in use. I'm going to share a few tips and tricks to make your columns look amazing!
Code:
Start out with the [columns] bracket. You're already halfway there! Type all of the information that you would like in your first column in this area. When you're ready to make your next column, put in [nextcol] ...Now your second column has been made! Exciting, isn't it? why not make some more? You can make as many as you want! [nextcol] Now we have three columns! Depending on the size of your text/graphics that you are using, 3 columns is usually the most I will use. when you're done with your columns and want to go back to normal text, put [/columns] Wasn't that easy?

Let's take a look at that.

Start out with the
bracket. You're already halfway there! Type all of the information that you would like in your first column in this area. When you're ready to make your next column, put in ...Now your second column has been made! Exciting, isn't it? why not make some more? You can make as many as you want! Now we have three columns! Depending on the size of your text/graphics that you are using, 3 columns is usually the most I will use. when you're done with your columns and want to go back to normal text, put

Without the codes in the text it looks confusing, but it's a great way to exhibit the many uses of columns.

Now, for a real example.

Simple, isn't it?
If you run into obstacles while using columns, just using a bunch of spaces or returns works really well to fix things up in a fast and easy way.

Items in bios

This is something that is largely misunderstood and a mistake made by many. Take myself, for example. There was a point in time that I used the "item=itemname" code in every single one of my bios. What's wrong with that, you say? I'll show you.

On the forums, using this code is very useful to display images (especially skins) quickly and easily. All you need to do is this.
Code:
[item=sand]
and it will become this!
Sand

beware, though. This code is an enemy of bio-making!

If you use the item=itemname code in your own dragon bio, this is how it will appear.

SbAc0yd.png

What's wrong with that?

From everyone else's perspective, this is how it looks.

vOnPp5O.png

Not too nifty now, huh?

So, what can you do to fix this problem?

Technically, it can't be fixed. At the time there isn't a way to use the item=itemname code in bios and have it work. Luckily, it's not hard to use an alternative to this.

Just right click the item you want to display and click "Copy Image Url" and put it inside of an [img][/ img] code instead. Like this![/img]
Code:
[img]http://flightrising.com/images/cms/trinket/182.png[/img]

182.png

Wow! Basically the same thing and just as easy, huh?

Icons

Icons are not only something commonly used in bios, but used across forums in a variety of games and roleplays on Flight Rising.

So, how do people get them, anyways?

It's easy! If you want to make an icon of your dragon, go to the arrow at the top of the page by your username, and click "Change Avatar". You do not actually need to change your avatar to do this! When you find the icon of the dragon you want, right click and copy the url!
If you straight up paste the url in something, it will just appear like this:
http://www1.flightrising.com/rendern/portraits/39458/3945788p.png

which is why you need to put an image code around it to make it work!

3945788p.png
Code:
[img]http://www1.flightrising.com/rendern/portraits/39458/3945788p.png[/img]

So cool!

If you put it in paint it will have a plain white background.)

Ta-da! You can even edit the icons to portray different emotions if you like.

Sadly, that is something I can't exactly teach, but it is not very hard to do in an art program.

That wraps up my little bit of knowledge in coding / bio making! I hope you learned something from this.
