better desc to come
basic summary: pushy, tweaked-off mute who spends most of her time running in circles and murdering anything she trips over
then grimnebulin sat on her
and they made babby 2gether))
Grimnebulin:
((when a daddy dragon who is a frail runt guardian loves a mute murderous mommy dragon very much, he sits on her to get her to stop being so unreasonable and running around
then sometimes they decide to make eggs together because he spent a bunch of years Searching for her anyway))
Jacint
((in our next tragic story, this fae was born blind
but then he became an awesome healer
so it worked out in the end
except for the part where he kind of went crazy due to social isolation and tried to commit suicide by plaguebringer))

Salztch
The Mother Deer -- The Soulwood Birch
Plagueheart clan consort
There are still twisted places in the world, where the lingering magic of the Shade or the long-ago explosion that formed the youngest three dragon gods still warps the land. ((tbc))
((born a mutant. fascinated with fleshcrafting. gave up any chance of normal children as her sacrifice to the plagueheart.))
Larkspur:

Basically the biggest dork you will ever meet.

Berengiere:
((what if you were an awesome wizard but it's because of a brain defect that means you can't communicate with your family meaningfully
what if that happened
that happened to berengiere
being an amazing wizard and keeping long-term memories about people isn't so cool when you can't relate to other tundras due to having diminished memories for scents
other stuff: on first meeting jacint she could see how strongly the nature magic & will to live beat in his breast
she takes the sacrifices the plagueheart make and transforms them into offerings to the plaguebringer--this extends to intangibles too, like voices or free wills. she can also take a sacrifice and transform it into something useful to the person originally offering it--a voice for a weapon or a spell of great power--but it's still lost or destroyed permanently.))
a sad lark story: (which needs to be editted)
It's an odd combination of love, confusion, and spite that keeps Larkspur coming back.
The little spiral long ago gave up on sorting out which of his(her) half-rotten memories were true. There wasn't any use in it: two conflicting histories vied for space in her(his) skull, one flatly impossible and the other forgotten by every other dragon on Sornieth. Holding on to the pieces of the past that felt true was like trying to catch minnows with bound claws, and as often as Lark remembered something important and real, (s)he forgot it again in hours and was left only with the ache of having known it.
The impulses that arose from the partway digested soup of recollection were easy to catch hold of, and it's those Lark clings to. One of those impulses, regular as clockwork, is to find a certain damned ridgeback and leave gifts for him. Never present the gifts, not in person--that's too terrifying, like walking inviting oneself in to see one of the Eleven with a woefully inadequate sacrifice.
Just leave them where he's sure to find them, arranged with tender care before a shrine of skulls and vertebrae. Lark doesn't remember why that's important (??bow before your king?? / ??through [s]God[/s] our master all things are possible??)), only that there's reverence due. (And at the same time a desperate aching hatred as pure as anything the spiral's ever felt rages through his veins because you left me and it takes him two or three tries to stack the bones up aright without scattering them in a spasm of fury.)
Often in the past, the sacrifice was a proper god-gift: food (come back, I can provide), or flowers (I miss you), or a hatchling fit for Exaltation. This time, though, Lark's been moved to outdo (him)herself.

[item=Dire Wooden Toy] [item=Delightful Wooden Unicorn]
An entire herd of toy horses is posed among the skulls, the ghastly little figurines arranged with tender care as if they're frolicking together. Those alone represent considerable, obsessive investment of a mad collector--but the centerpiece of the gift is a live Nightmare, curry-combed to shining, flowers plaited into its insubstantial mane.
I remember. Take me back.
As always, Lark loses her(his) nerve well before the gift's discovered and doesn't stay to see its reception.
Dumb temporary desc collection Adorjan:
((HA HA THIS WAS DUMB THO
better desc to come
basic summary: pushy, tweaked-off mute who spends most of her time running in circles and murdering anything she trips over
then grimnebulin sat on her
and they made babby 2gether))
Grimnebulin:
((when a daddy dragon who is a frail runt guardian loves a mute murderous mommy dragon very much, he sits on her to get her to stop being so unreasonable and running around
then sometimes they decide to make eggs together because he spent a bunch of years Searching for her anyway))
Jacint
((in our next tragic story, this fae was born blind
but then he became an awesome healer
so it worked out in the end
except for the part where he kind of went crazy due to social isolation and tried to commit suicide by plaguebringer))
For when I find another Salztch: Salztch The Mother Deer -- The Soulwood Birch
Plagueheart clan consort
There are still twisted places in the world, where the lingering magic of the Shade or the long-ago explosion that formed the youngest three dragon gods still warps the land. ((tbc))
((born a mutant. fascinated with fleshcrafting. gave up any chance of normal children as her sacrifice to the plagueheart.))
Larkspur:
Basically the biggest dork you will ever meet.
[pathomancer | not part of plagueheart proper | undead & rejected by plaguebringer | still hopeful about something beyond mama nurgle that cares about dragons | knight at heart | SAVER OF HORRORS | idiotically committed tothis guy(and/or his FR counterpart)]
Quote:
??through God our master all things are possible??)), only that there's reverence due.
Dire Wooden Toy
Trinkets
A horse-shaped toy, reeking of smoldering ash. It might make for better tinder than hatchling entertainment.
47
Delightful Wooden Unicorn
Trinkets
It takes a particular kind of hatchling to seriously refer to this menacing plaything as 'delightful'.
47
An entire herd of toy horses is posed among the skulls, the ghastly little figurines arranged with tender care as if they're frolicking together. Those alone represent considerable, obsessive investment of a mad collector--but the centerpiece of the gift is a live Nightmare, curry-combed to shining, flowers plaited into its insubstantial mane.
I remember. Take me back.
As always, Lark loses her(his) nerve well before the gift's discovered and doesn't stay to see its reception.

"Flowers of the Wasteland" -- Plagueheart allies who worship the Gladekeeper and have a complicated frenemy relationship with their sister clan. Because the Plagueheart enthusiastically embrace life and see Plague (via survival of the fittest) as being the ur-element, they're bound to have some heretics who still support the basic mission but are more Nature-y. This is actually okay, as far as the four eldest Plagueheart are concerned--Mama Nurgle has a complicated relationship with Her sister the Gladekeeper, so they ought to have their own complicated relationship with a Nature clan.
By turn the Flowers aren't really orthodox Nature and don't fit in well over there, so they spend their time migrating between two territories (via Shadow) with occasional side-trips into other domains. There's a lot of fraternization between the two groups, like Callirhoe (nominally the matriarch of the Flowers) sleeping with LITERALLY EVERY MALE PLAGUEHEART who'll give her the time of day. MARROWREND
ALCHEMIST | HEMOMANCER | CHIRURGEON
"It's harder to mend than to break."
Marrowrend is no warrior. His mind does not run to battles and strategy, nor to the weaving of disease or magic to scourge his enemies. A disappointment to his parents, he is stubbornly disinterested in being forged into a weapon—and so left their company as soon as he could hunt on his own. It was a rough existence for a half-fledged wildclaw, but determination carried him; his drive for knowledge made him fearless even in the face of death.
It's life that catches his imagination, not killing: life and the stuff of it, blood and veins, muscles and organs. Everything that lives and breathes, creeps or hops or flies or grows on the surface of Sornieth—Marrowrend wants to understand it, every fine detail, to better to repair and improve it. Taught the rudiments of hemomancy—the magic of blood—by his parents, he's expanded on the art in leaps and bounds through his practical study in the laboratory of the Wastelands.
There is one area in which he is the consummate Plague dragon, and that is survival. Regardless of the hostility of the territory or its inhabitants, the paucity of the food or the vagaries of the weather, Marrowrend survives. He is not beneath scavenging or begging for a meal, nor working unpleasant or difficult jobs for a clawful of treasure and a roof over his head. More often, though, he earns his keep through his cleverness. A self-taught alchemist, a reader of blood, talented in the use of herbs and knife and talon to heal wounds, he exchanges his services as a healer in return for the opportunity to study the maladies of those he heals. Not all dragons he meets are so comfortable with a Plague dragon performing such services for them, and that's all right, too—he'll do whatever else it takes to get the information he seeks, no matter how demeaning or strange.
And, well—blood flows through the brain. Twisting its flow a little here or there to incline a dragon in his favor is not beneath his dignity.
