Generally, each day I spend one turn in each foraging, and the rest is scavenging and digging. I tend to be low on food sometimes, but it's never much of a problem since I never convert all of my food in case Crim wants it, so I generally always have a little extra in my hoard. I also forage in the same place every time (Lightning), though I don't know if that makes a difference.
Since I have practically no Tundras, and my Guardians and Mirrors also accept seafood, I like to pretend that my meat and seafood stock is actually just one huge stock of meat so I can determine when I'm running out from there. My Faes...Well, I get plenty of insects at least.

I don't have huge issues with food for the most part (though farming the first two levels has gotten pretty boring) but does anyone have tips on a good way to find seafood? I've got seven Imps now, and while that makes me pretty happy for the most part, I can't find fish fast enough to feed them. Thankfully they default to meat when the seafood's gone, and I have plenty of that, but I thought I might as well try asking here.

When I first started the coliseum, I amassed huge piles of food that I intended to sell. I accidentally converted them into food points instead and I've been coasting on that little mistake ever since.

That's odd. I have more than 12 dragons, and have plenty of food for them. However, I did a lot of gathering for food at the beginning, when I only had a few dragons, so maybe I will use up my savings, and find myself in your situation eventually.
I do also level up my dragons in the coliseum, but not enough to do more than make a small contribution to my food income, even though I only spend a couple of gathering turns on food.
