You continue to travel despite the heat waves wafting from the ground and eventually reach rotrock town. The town was not particularly bustling with activity but there is life. Chatter could be heard from the saloon, shopkeepers tend to their wares. The inhabitants strut about and mingle with travelers, it is a friendly community. You decided to stop here to resupply before moving on. A mirror was hammering down a nail onto the block letters that spell out Ugly Duckling Saloon, you barely missed getting showered with dust as you pushed the saloon door open. Now you sit in the tavern nursing a classic pink cactus juice. During your rest you noticed a mirror sitting alone in one corner of the room, his head was tilted down and had a cowboy hat hiding his eyes. He was decked out in heavy robes and armed to the teeth. The mirror looked up. You quickly look away to end up staring at a bogsneak bartender who happen to be standing beside you. She noticed you looking at the mirror, “we call dragons like him the Lawdreg.” The bogsneak explains. “He’s actually a bounty hunter, one of the few keeping our town safe. You would think we would just call them bounty hunter since they’re just doing it for the treasure but most do their bounty hunting here, so we treat them like they’re the protectors of this town. This mirror is a bit too old to still be one if you ask me...” “I heard that!” The raspy voice of the Lawdreg boomed in the tavern, making the bartender jump and laugh. She waves an arm at the mirror in a dismissive manner, “come now, tell us a story! What about the latest business in bounty hunting?” This garnered a few attention of other tables who turned to the Lawdreg eagerly. The mirror grumbled under his breath before clearing his throat. “You ever seen the mine we have? Of course not, the entrance collapsed years ago. However, some crazy dreg decided to dig it back open again. We think they’re here for the gold.” A dragon scoffed from a different table, “gold? Wouldn’t this town have already dug out all the gold already? That doesn’t make sense.” The Lawdreg simply shook his head, “you know nothing of this town, we call the mine the Emperor’s Breath because it’s entrance is the ribcage of a dead Emperor. Not all bones of an emperor can be removed so easily.” “Anyway, the mine is open now. If you wanna have a look in it go ahead, maybe you’ll find all the gilded chest in the Emperor’s belly.” The mirror chuckled before going back to his cactus ale.
