[columns][size=4]Dragons across Arcane have been preparing for [i]weeks[/i] for their companions across the lands to come visit for the annual celebrations in the Starfall Isles. Alongside the yearly competitions and activities that Arcane hosts for its festival, this year’s celebration also has Arcanites up at the Observatory getting ready to explore two of Sornieth’s moons - Viatieth and Oblivieth - due to recent observations suggesting that there was once perhaps life upon them. Two brave and fearless dragons, Voidwalker and Virgo, have compiled together teams and are ready to begin their trips, each to a different moon to retrieve samples and study what remains. Relax, and enjoy a week of reports from these two dragons as they set off among the stars. There is definitely nothing bad that can happen exploring these two moons. [u]Oblivieth[/u] - Arcane Astronomers have determined this moon may have once had liquid water on its surface, but a giant crater is believed to have wiped out all potential life there may have been. Virgo and her crew have chosen to venture to this moon to discover if there may have been life, and to study what they can. On one claw, he had been this close to getting a new te- volunteer for his latest experiment. On the other claw, if what this message was saying was true, it would be the greatest chance in a lifetime. The chance to explore Viatieth was something he never thought would be offered to anyone, what with the possible ‘issues’ with the Shade and all that. He paused, casting a look around at his workspace and all his notes on necromancy, the Shade and the things that dwelled within the stars. Alright, maybe it made some sense on why there was a mission and why he was being sent on it. He was possibly the only expert on many of the darker magics, some of which he had cre- discovered himself. Turning back to the scroll, he considered it with far more gravity than before. It bore the official seal of the Arcanist and was written on paper that was only used for official requests. It was only the contents that had caused any doubt, but now, Voidwalker could feel excitement bubbling within as he finally accepted that yes, this was real. He started darting around his workspace, dealing with the projects that had already been started and putting away the materials that would have been used in the projects he had planned to start. He had something far, far more interesting to do and with any luck, it would be so much fun! She had with her some star charts and yet another book about the moons of Sornieth. The satellites had captured her interest lately, and had only furthered her dreams to one day explore the vast expanse of space. The moons both had evidence of potential life, although in the case of Oblivieth, any life that had once existed was likely extinct due to a large crater that Arcane’s astronomers had discovered not long ago. They were certain that there was still water on the moon, however, although they were unable to tell if it was liquid or frozen. It would take a team of researchers traveling to the moon itself to find out for sure. Virgo continued to hope that one day the Arcanist would send that team. She would make sure she was on it, one way or another. No sooner had the thought crossed her mind than a young Fae came fluttering in with a scroll grasped in his claws. Virgo recognised him as one of the dragons who had been exalted to the Arcanist recently, but she couldn’t recall his name. It wasn’t of much importance to her, anyway. Of far more interest was the scroll he delivered, which he gave to her and then quickly left without a single word. It seemed her reputation had already reached the new recruits. The scroll bore the official seal of the Arcanist, written on stationary reserved for official requests from the deity himself. Virgo slowly unrolled it and read it over carefully, once and then again just to make sure she’d understood correctly. She’d been given a mission, directly from the Arcanist, to assemble a team and voyage to the moon of Oblivieth. They would be conducting research to determine if there had once been life on the moon, to discover the state of the apparent water on the surface, and to learn what they could of the crater and its history. There was also a small note that there were rumors among both astronomers and the young messengers populating the Observatory that the moon was, well, “haunted.” She was to determine if there was any substance to these rumors and if they could possibly relate to the workings of the Shade. Virgo couldn’t help but smile as she read over the scroll one more time, letting its words sink in fully. Not even the supposedly “haunted” aspect could darken the joy bubbling up inside her — it looked like her dreams would be coming true at last. She was going to space. [/center]
