Ships fill every harbor and port, a large motley of transport from battered fishing vessels to luxury cruise liners (and even the occasional pirate ship), all come to carry the honorable exalted to the Spiral Keep. It is said that ships who offer safe passage to the incoming exalted are granted luck for the year. Each year, bottles of sea-friendly champagne are broken over the bows of new ships as their names are called aloud before they are launched out into the Sea. Not only does this invite good luck, it also provides quite the spectacle to the public. A successful launch is considered an engineering feat, as the ship survives abnormal stresses not found during normal operation.

This is usually a harmless superstition as the objects tend to be things like kites crafted on the Windswept Plateau or gemstones from Dragonhome.
