I honestly thought that if a dragon was a higher level when you exalted it you might get an item or something? Perhaps there could be rare items that you have a chance to get if the dragon is a higher level?
For example,
Level 1-5, you are likely to just get treasure and such.
Level 6-10 you could get treasure and some rarer items
Level 11-15, possibly treasure, a gem or two, rarer items
Like with a level 25 dragon and up you have a chance to get a Gene Scroll that you can only get from there/or very rarely stocks in the shops for gems?

Seriously, that's it? I was hoping that if I couldn't sell off some hatchlings that I could at least exalt them for a decent amount
This is just making me not want to exalt at all ever D:

I'd like to see the treasure gained roughly follow the experience needed to level that amount. so hatchlings would get even less maybe, but by doing 1 or 2 coliseum runs to get to level 2-3 would give you the same exalt treasure amount, ~1500, and a level 7 is ~6000. would mean leveling to 25 and exalting would be quite profitable at what, 160k+? Sounds like alot, but you could make more by spending less time playing the fairgrounds games. It would mean you'd have incentive to spend some time training them instead of just sending level 0 hatchlings away.
I like dominance wars because I'm impatient for Community warfare on MWO.

I was afraid to jump into the coliseum as a total newbie, because that energy bonus for keeping your clan happy could go away due to energy lost in a fight.
And then I was totally delighted that it wasn't as drastic as I'd imagined since you could go to main menu to recharge (well, loosing the experience bonus... ) without loosing energy from defeat. If you'd get a bit of extra gold for training them, and you find food on the battlefield to sustain the dragons until you'd plan to exalt... training them should be something high on the list of spending time.
I agree that exalting should not become a profitable way to earn treasure, and it should encourage leveling up the dragons a bit (like showing them a bit of love), so the difference in reward between completely untrained and a trained dragon should be reasonably high.

It's possible, at some point, that leveling a dragon for exaltation (as you did) will be actually more lucrative than selling it on the auction house. It simply remains to be seen!

cryes softly as i read this..
Sigh this is a real punish to those ppl who accual are among those whoget seasures/other forms for ilsness from playing the games on the site. Their ONLY income is from selling hatchlings.
I hope the exalt system will be tweeked.. rigth now the hatchling in ah are dropping below 10k which imho are a bit to low.. specially if you want to save for a gene/breed scrool..

NO LONGER ACTIVE.
I LEFT FR AND GIVEN AWAY MY STUFF.
Ouch, only 12k for exalting a level 25 dragon? D:
That's.. definitely not worth the time and effort. Especially since it seems that higher level areas don't really give any better loot chances than the training grounds. XD I could spend 20 minutes levelling 2 dragons up to level 5 and get 6k+ on each of them - if levels affected dominance at all apart from treasure, then I could see trying to level dragons before exalting. But right now, it's simply treasure gain, with the only significant reward being the dominance discount, if you're not doing it for the story aspects of it.
At the current rate, basic starter-breed hatchling prices will eventually fall to around 2-3k depending on how fast people breed, and adult dragons may remain around 5-10k, possibly depending on whether people are willing to level them. But in the end, exalting is simply the base price for a dragon. Raise it, and you guarantee people will buy dragons at prices that fall below it to exalt. Right now, there's still more demand than supply, but in a few weeks or months, we'll have a lot more hatchlings a and a lot of people hitting the treasure wall on their lairs, where they simply can't afford to expand.
For me, I'm coming close to that - and while theoretically, you could make 75k+ per day on this site, I seriously doubt many have the patience to do it long-term. While I do like the games, hours upon hours upon hours of grinding after a few days, and I am definitely bored, and a little sick of them. >.>; The same goes for the coliseum. More games may help, or games with a faster payout (depending on lag), but in the end, the site becomes simply.. not fun to play. And the rewards.. a week of boredom for 5 more lair slots? Just.. won't be worth it. Eventually, genes will be more common, and with the limited colors we have, they too will start dropping in price until more genes/species are released. Instead of it taking days/weeks to save up for scrolls, it will take months.
And then you end up with people getting very frustrated at high marketplace prices and low hatchling prices or doing the re-selling thing which then gets them attacked by other frustrated people, and it spirals into serious unpleasantness. XD And while you can get a lot of money playing the marketplace, it's still incredibly boring/time-consuming for many people, and ends up building resentment in those who don't have time/treasure for it (I see a certain poor flight is still getting picked on because of it, despite it being done by only a few individuals). So either way, at least personally, making treasure on this site just isn't fun or worth the time after awhile. :c
Raising the exalting payout and making it actually more lucrative to level them might help, especially if you get flights racing to level dragons for dominance as well as racing for higher numbers of exalts. But I think really, it just needs to be more fun to actually make treasure - and that's not something that can be fixed short-term, other than increasing coliseum loots (which would then cause prices of loot items/familiars to plummet, but given that many are already at the hoard-sell value anyway, that's possibly less of an issue). It will take time to make more games, and in the meanwhile, prices will continue to drop toward exalt-prices until it more or less levels out around 3k.

Sorry, last three posters, this information is outdated. The price is currently...
25k for a Level 25 hatchling
Which personally I think sucks still, but what can ya do? Updating the main post now.

..That's a relief. XD Though I think the bulk of my post still stands, since after level 5 or so, the coliseum becomes a serious grind. It is fun, but not at the long stretches it takes to make enough treasure to afford genes/breed changes or lair expansions, or level a dragon high enough for that to be significantly lucrative. No easy fix exists for that though, since new content takes time, and the lag is overall making it worse. XD So, as other have said, it'll be awhile before things are really at a point where everything has really settled down into a good pace.

I don't think exalting should give out too much treasure because in the future, when this site booms with dragon, dominance is going to be really start ramping out, and people will be exalting like crazy.

Wesley Remember, this is about exalting -levelled- dragons, not exalting hatchlings. I think the price for hatchlings is fine, but leveling to 25 is work, and should be rewarded.
