But not even rumors of eldritch monsters can stop a holiday, and the streets of Levitos are filled with dragons partying it up as both natives and visitors enjoy the events. In the midst of the festivities, you almost miss the glass bottle resting against the shore, bobbing up and down gently with the waves. Out of curiosity, you pick up the bottle. The bottle is stopped up with a cork and sealed with wax, and the clear glass allows you to see the contents within. Tucked inside is a piece of paper, curled up so it could fit in the bottle. By now your interest is fully piqued, and you eagerly open the seal and pull out the paper. The paper unfurls in your hands, revealing itself to be a letter written in neat handwriting with blue ink. [i]To the dragons of Sornieth: I hope this letter finds you well. Though I know that you will not be the only one to read this, and that many more will read this letter and the others by the time the Wavecrest Saturnalia ends. One of the blessings of foresight, I suppose. Every year during the week before Wavecrest, Water Flight sends out a call to all of the other flights, asking them to send us their dragons to Exalt so that we may honor the Tidelord with dominance during our festival. And every year, without fail, every flight answers the call by sending us hundreds and hundreds of dragons. To show our appreciation, and to let their families know how their loved ones are doing, this year we shall be sending out letters from the Exalted. I and ten other Exalts, one from each flight, will write letters describing our daily lives in the Tidelord’s service - as well as how the Exalts you have sent us are doing, of course. What our Exalts do to serve Tidelord varies much more than most people expect - fighting, of course, but also fortune telling, border patrol, infrastructure maintenance, postal services, wildlife protection and even accounting! And so much more. Unfortunately I am running out of paper to write on, so I will have to cut myself off here. However, do look forward to the letters that my compatriots and I will send you. On behalf of the Tidelord and all of Water Flight, I thank you all for supporting our flight, and I hope that you have a wonderful Wavecrest Saturnalia. You've always wondered what the Exalted do after joining a god's service, and Water Flight especially is notorious for secrets. The idea of catching a glimpse into their daily lives excites you, and you can't wait to read the upcoming letters. Just as you finish thinking that, another bottle gently floats to your feet. To the dragons of Sornieth:

I hope this letter finds you well. Though I know that you will not be the only one to read this, and that many more will read this letter and the others by the time the Wavecrest Saturnalia ends. One of the blessings of foresight, I suppose.

This year Water Flight is sending out letters from Tidelord's Exalts as a way to show off the varied jobs they have for a living, and to share how your children have been doing since they arrived. Eleven dragons, one to represent each flight, will be sharing their stories - tales of why they joined, what they do, and how they mentor the newcomers from their flight. Come back each day to see what new letters have washed ashore - and which flights they'll be coming from. After all, it wouldn't be Water Flight without an air of mystery attached, would it? ;) Sunday: Water Monday: Earth and Wind Tuesday: Fire and Ice Wednesday: Light and Shadow Thursday: Lightning and Arcane Friday: Plague and Nature Saturday: Epilogue

My name is Ryppal Bluewave, and I am one of the Exalts of Tidelord. I hatched in a mid-sized clan near the Leviathan Trench, where the currents carry the Tidelord’s prophecies from his lair into the ears of the deep-dwelling Water clans. (Or well, they used to… But let’s not dwell on that right now.) Ever since I was a hatchling, I dreamed of serving under the Tidelord - and I mean that quite literally. I had shown a strong gift for prophecy at an early age, and in my visions I saw myself in the Spiral Keep, standing side by side with other Exalts as we poured over scrying pools and deciphered the whispers in Tidelord’s bubbles. I did not fear or loathe my destiny - instead, I embraced it. Exalting is a honor, and I was proud that fate had deemed me worthy of being a noble protector of the Sea, just as many of my family members had been before me. Besides, there was comfort in knowing what the future had in store for me. When I finally reached adulthood, I bid my clan farewell and left for the Spiral Keep. As one of Tidelord’s oracles, I of course spend most of my time focusing on my visions of the future. Some oracles like to scry in solitude, holed up in individual caves away from the outside world as they focus on Seeing. Others, such as I, prefer to scry in a large room surrounded by many other seers. Half the time, the room is silent as everyone concentrates on their own visions. The other half, the room is filled with the sound of whispers, screams, and arguments as seers discuss their visions, comparing what they see with what others have seen. The discussions do get frustrating at times, as dragons debate over the meaning of a particular bit of symbolism in a vision, or whether two oracles were seeing the same future or alternate futures, or the same future but at different points of time, but they are engaging, and they can help clarify prophecies too enigmatic for one dragon to puzzle out alone. Most of the Exalts that join our group of oracles are Water dragons. This is unsurprising, given our Flight’s propensity for foresight, though occasionally we get an out-of-flight dragon gifted in prophecy. Whatever their eye color may be, it is the duty of us veteran oracles to teach them our ways of divination. We teach them how to control their Sight, what signs to recognize as part of an oncoming vision, and how to record the prophecy and deliver the message where and how it needs to be sent. Some seers are more talented than others, but like any skill it can be honed with practice. Most of their early predictions are small and simple - what the weather will be like tomorrow, whether the fishing will be good, or if two dragons will finally get together - but as they improve their visions will no doubt become more powerful. Now that the Tidelord has stopped sending us his prophecies, we must rely more on our own. Each individual prophecy carries more weight now, which is why we are grateful for all of the potential oracles Water Flight (and other flights) have sent us. With our combined Sight, no threat is impossible for us to predict. For the sake of protecting our homes and all who live in it, we will scry tirelessly to make it so. Unfortunately our time together grows short, so I’m afraid I must end this here. I wish you all the best, and I hope you enjoy the Wavecrest Saturnalia. May the tides carry good fortune in your future. Sincerely, Ryppal Bluewave

Dear Water Flight,

Greetings.
