So....this may have been asked before, but how do you view beastclan members that become your dragon's familiar? We know the ones like centaurs that get found via hunting and such willingly choose to go with the dragons, but what about Beastclans that got dropped in the coliseum?
We know Coli Beastclan members were a few minutes/hours/days ago enemies trying to kill our dragons, so how do you imagine that works? Did they never agree with waging war and betrayed their kind to go with the dragons willingly after the battle was lost? Was your familiar randomly spared and then kidnapped, and forced to be around someone until they realized dragons weren't bad (Stockholm syndrome?) Was your familiar originally taken as a prisoner, and bears a grudge over being left behind by the other warriors?
How do you imagine these events?

I only have one beastclan familiar that's officially tied to a dragon lore-wise that dropped from the coliseum. I was new to the coli, and I brought in a new dragon to the Scorched Forest. First fight was against a Wintermane Bowman. Her colors matched him perfectly. She ko'd him in one strike, but the rest of my budding team took her out, and she dropped. Lore-wise, she felt bad for taking out an Imperial that was practically a hatchling, and decided he was too weak to be trusted with these "Irresponsible Scale-tails" that just let the poor kid be shot down. They're close friends now, but she holds a grudge against the two dragons on my main coli team for how they treated him back then.
Essentially she went mama taur on my dragon and won't stop, even though he can carry her on his back now. XD

I suppose the stages of bonding helps with this one. The beastclan member (or any familiar dropped), instead of being killed, surrenders/ submits. Dragon takes pity on them or rather admires them for their courage and is merciful enough to bring them back to heal whatever wounds were gained from battle.
At first they are wary around the dragons and are rather unwilling to be around them, but slowly come around to be friendly enough. After all, no one ever said they had to be friends right at the start.

Not every beastclan member I have are related to my lore.
There are a group of three serthis work as researchers in my clan, they study ghost processed items.
Etaoin and
Kaleyard know some serthis and longneck during science conference.
Most of the others are just drop by after sparring in coliseum.

A few of my familiars were picked up in battle, either abandoned by their comrades or reluctant warriors to begin with. But my headcanon is that not all the Beastclans are against dragons, and there are small, individual clans that live and work together with dragonkind. Most of my familiars are from these friendlier groups and joined my clan for work and education opportunities. A few signed on as ambassadors to help educate other dragons about making friends with Beastclans.
They've all got mini-profiles in this dude's bio. :D

My girl Reshitao handles all situations with the Beastclans, acting as a mediator with those clans who have agreed to peace treaties and helping to fend off those who haven't.
The Maren and Longneck are allies and those who are familiars are ambassadors from their clans to mine.
The Harpies are enemies, especially because of Reshitao having gotten close enough to capture a male harpy in her past, so that paints a giant target on her back and the entire clan. Only one other Harpy, a female, is a familiar to one of my dragons, and she was most likely a prisoner who was taken in from another clan (selling fams on the AH)
Centaurs are neutral with my clan. We don't bother them, they don't bother us, and even do a bit of trading from time to time. Same with the Talonok. If one wishes to stay with a dragon for some reason, it will be mediated beforehand.
Serthis are definitely enemies. They're not as troublesome as Harpies, but they can be a pain in the backside. If any Serthis are familiars, they were spared and taken in as prisoners.

That's probably the cutest lore I've ever heard relating to beastclans!

Riga's familiar is actually his mate! Her name is Eunomia; they met when she was injured and lost on the shore of the Sea. Riga found her, nursed her back to health, and they fell in love along the way. She was also pregnant at the time, eventually giving birth to a healthy filly. Ekki has known no other father and as far as she's concerned she's half-dragon in all the ways that matter.

Then there's Dima, who is the leader of a clan that's made up of rejects, runaways, and refugees. Two of their closest advisers/companions are Beastclans -
A harpy named Faraday who ran from his flock in the Shifting Expanse, because he was the only male in the flock and was not looking forward to his future prospects. The other is a serthis named Chase, who was originally a mercenary sent to bring Faraday back. Dima convinced her to abandon the contract and she's since become a valued member of the clan.
