Cool but; What does that even mean?
to me that means that traits of the deities work into their creation's personality, powers, and appearance and in these series I'll be making on an Aesop on each dragon breed and trying to brake down what parts of a dragon's general nature reflect their god in question, from history to combat capabilities.
Some headcannons warning but this is a mostly theory thread. I aim to bring mostly implied truths from as much facts I can gather, and please feel free to add your own thoughts on the dragons bellow.
Gladekeeper and the Wildclaw
Overview
The Wildclaw breed originates from Shrieking Wilds where its population remains abundant. This species has begun to expand into new domains, the most notable of which is The Wandering Contagion. This territory supports the second largest population of Wildclaw dragons, which some consider to be unusual given the homeland of the species. To say that these two regional groups do not get along is an understatement, and most encounters between the two populations trend towards bloodshed.
This bit of lore of the migration patterns is a direct reference to the two the sister's rivalry.
The rampant regrowth began to take on the guise of a colossal figure. Tree branches and leaves strained and twisted together into four thick, bark-covered stumps. A leafy canopy connected the four towers, until the burgeoning garden had materialized into a distinguishable silhouette. There was no mistaking what had been created: a wyrm of boundless potential, birthed from the leaves and the grass and the moss. The Gladekeeper had grown out of the ashes. Not everything can be healed. The apocalypse had done more than spur the rejuvenation of flora: the fauna still rotted, left to fester upon the soil, and spoil in the dreadful warmth. Death leveraged the excess energy in another way. Where nature could not mend, decay took its place. Putrid film soaked and crept across the ground, enveloping everything in its path. Whole structures creaked and fell under the weight of the empowered rot that now infected them. This scourge wrapped around the fallen, ripping away flesh and tearing marrow into a blighted tornado of destruction. Within time, the contamination had taken on a ghastly shape. It haunted the land in the form of a spectral drake, gnarled with veins, pustules and sharpened bone. This harbinger -the Plaguebringer- tested the worth of every sign of regrowth as she scoured over the surface of the realm, leaving behind a frightening scarred wasteland. It did not take long for the wyrms to encounter one another; each was torn away from their polarized campaigns after sensing the nearness of their nemesis. While the land healed and fell ill all around them, the deities of nature and plague embroiled themselves in vicious, unending combat. Thick roots and brambles wrapped themselves around the Plaguebringer’s legs and arms, chaining her to the earth, only to wither and melt away at her defiling touch. Contagion reached and groped at the Gladekeeper’s every move, but she countered with razor-sharp torrents of bladed leaves and piercing branches. The land took on the hues of red and green as the two sparred and tumbled eternally. Hilltops and cliffs were torn asunder, replaced with lush tropical gardens or seething, stinking, bone piles. Chaos seemed the only constant. |
To me she probably implanted something in their minds to violently and instinctually reject Plague wildclaw because of this waring. She is willing to pre program pure hatred into her kind to reject any "defectors" of her pure nature image.
Physical Attributes:
Wildclaw are a bipedal species of dragon. Their powerful hind legs excel at launching them into the air and enabling them to slash at their prey. The shorter front legs possess dexterous claws and opposable thumbs. Wildclaws display little sexual dimorphism, with both male and females possessing a crown of six horns and a crest of feathers. Females of the species are on-average slightly larger than their male counterparts.
The jumping capabilities of this dragon might echo Glade's fight style of how she combated Plaguebringer.

Magic was not the best method agents her for anything Glade thorugh back Plague was able to throw back at her. Physical combat would be needed to take her down. Both the God's auras would have been enough to impact the wildlife and world around them as they where litteraly tumbled with one another in a sort of fight cloud brawl.
Females bolstering a larger size than the males, disbite of them looking exactly the same, could show that- being female herself- she would favor the females a little bit more than the males simply due to identification.
Before Plague, she met no other drake and odds are the male gender might have not been "known" at the time. There for it was not important for her. Mimicing however other dragon kind, and of corse, having vast knowlage of wild life, she saw she would have introduced the other gender. However they really feel like "a second thought". To me she really bolsters as an "amazon woman". And if she had it her way I could see every dragon being born out of a damn tree rather than sexual reproduction.
Social:
Wildclaw hierarchy revolves around physical might and hunting prowess. A dragon's station is dictated by their ability to provide for the clan, with the best hunters and fighters being awarded positions of power. Dragons may challenge those who have offended them to a duel, no matter how small or fabricated the infraction. Truly a society of "might makes right", arguments that can't be won with logic may be won with tooth and claw. To decline a duel is to admit that one was in the wrong, for the truth of one's words is something worth fighting for. Declining a duel will lower a wildclaw's position in the clan far more than losing a duel, though participating in the duel comes with the risk of losing one's life.
The most noteworthy part of this whole conversation we are having right now is this part right here

That and well what's her background?
Battling plague Where the only situation was Might makes Right. She would rase a brand of perfect fighting machines. She wants each and every single one of them to grow strong; hence why she views them as quote:

Lairs:
Wildclaw lairs are colorful and ornamented. Dragons who are of lower ranking are encouraged to take up professions that allow them to beautify and enhance the dwelling of the clan. Chambers of the upper echelons of wildclaw society are covered in intricate murals depicting the past victories of the occupants. These walls are stripped and repainted whenever there is movement in the hierarchy, much to the grief of the artists.
Nests are sequestered away from the clan lair. A large family tree is considered prestigious; rivals have been known to pilfer and rear the eggs of their enemies to grow the branches of their family tree more swiftly. Choosing a strong mate is important for incubation and rearing of any clutch. In each pairing the dragon with the greatest physical prowess is given the honor of brooding over the nest until it hatches, while its partner is required to scout the surrounding territory for enemies and provide for their family. When hatchlings have fully imprinted upon their parents, the family will move back into the clan's lair.

Altho the traditional lair environment is of what of an lost to me I will say however that one line really strikes out to me from all of thats. That even from a very "fighting" based bread their lairs would be "colorful and ornamented". Not with bones but with things that are beautiful, so stunning that it brakes the artist creators heart when their artwork is torn down. This act much reminds me of ancient Egypt were a new person in power would try to erase any history they could of the past pharaoh who was in charge.
Another reason why I thinkthis is important to note that it shows how much she values nature and how it is imprinted in all her seeds the value of the wonders of life, because you know what is beautiful?
Nature is. Art is never made in a vacuum and the first art in all of history HAST to be inspired off of what you see around you, and that is nature. And She, Glade, would find beauty in nature and would want to enforce that love for nature in all of her seeds.
Tactics:
Wildclaws hunt and fight alone or in pairs. Those who are bonded to a dragon of a different species will always fight alone. Some theorize this is to protect their physically inferior (but no doubt lovable) partner by keeping dangers at a safe distance from them. While Wildclaw are adept at silent movement on the ground, when confronting another dragon they will address the enemy head-on by flaring their wings and shrieking their challenge.
Diet:
Meat
The moving stealthily to hunt and fight are down right identical to preditorial behaviors shown in, first things that come to mind, tigers who can sneak up on anyone. Hunters had to wear masks on the back of their head to make sure they where not attacked from behind by tigers from my knowlage. So this silent movement is key. However this could be identical to how she fights. Showing skills in stealth but when it came to direct combat she just goes IN and makes her presences known. She may lack wings but a way she could physically get the drop on them is by, just like a tiger, pouncing on them.
I would like to imagen her fight style to being something very similar to this when she is not casting magic
Very agressive, very in your face (or gut). She has the horns to pull off head buts. She has the legs to do these pounces. And you see a little later on in the video She has the ability to wait just like a silent hunter and then just go in.
The diet that they consume, again, identical to many silent hunters like a tiger.
That's just my thoughts on this topic, what parts of Gladekeeper do you think she put into the wildclaw that reflect of her personality or abilities in the comments bellow.
