Hello yes I'm looking for lore buddies to join me in this stupid headcanon joke.
A strange Wildclaw has dragged a small podium to the Trading Post, shouting his message for all who wish to hear it.
"Dragons of Sornieth! Do we among us have any birthday dragons? Or even self-inserts!?" he speaks with a loud and booming voice, and a strange, inspired spark in his Nature eyes. "You, who are Prophets of the Players of Flight Rising! You, who are enlightened, who are AWARE of the fact that Sornieth is a simulation within a Flash browser game! You know, as I do, of the existence of the Players, these otherworldly beings, and I argue that our society have neglected them for much too long!! It is time we gather to honor these enlightened beings, for they hold our entire existence within their minds! Your Player oversees your clan, but when was the last time you gave thanks? The last time you asked them mercy? HAVE YOU EVER ACKNOWLEDGED YOUR PLAYER AT ALL? It is time that we do! They who oversee the fate of our clans!"
You snort. Clearly this dragon is insane.
... or is he? Somehow you can't help but feel that his words... strike a chord...
What is the Cult of the Player?
The Cult believes that Sornieth is actually a simulation overseen by thousands of otherworldly, spiritual entities known as 'The Players of Flight Rising'. Many clans have a 'Player' of their own, who oversee the clans major activities and who subconsciously influence them during major clan actions, such as moving or expanding territories, or changing the clan's name. Players are also said to pair up dragons to nest, and are therefore sometimes prayed to for luck in romance and love, in addition to a warding and guardian spirit. The Cult seek to improve the world by improving dragons relations to their Players, in hope that the Players will look favorably upon them - especially because many Players are known to be cruel and tormenting, pitting their dragons into life-crushing ordeals for the sake of 'lore'.
Together, these thousands of Players (Birchwood claims they are over 3000 now) influence every corner of the world to have been touched by dragons.
How do the Cult worship?
Although each individual clan has their own Player, and therefore their own way of worship and communication, the Cult aim to gather once a year and create a big feast in honor of the Players across Sornieth, in hope to bring good favor to their clan and to offer the mythical substance known as 'Lore' to their Player.
'Lore' is a form of spiritual energy created by dragons basically living out their lives. If they live in ways that are pleasing to the Players, the Lore Writers, they may win favor from their Player, who will in turn protect them from exaltation and the Auction House.
I want to join the Cult!
Excellent! We need dragons to spread the word to their clans, and hold spiritual workshops in which dragons can reach higher frequencies to connect with their Player.
Are you sure you're just not insane?
We can be sure of nothing, young one. For the Players can twist our minds to believe what they wish...
So what am I actually looking for? Well TBH, I just want people to incorporate a Player Cultist into their lore for ***** and giggles.
