The usual reccomendation is to sell things for gems on the AH-- Baldwin materials, fodder, and so on, but I don't know how that would apply to a newbie? Either way good luck!

Just so you are aware, if you are patient the wildclaw scrolls will cycle into the gem store again in future (when, no one knows). And they're 2000g a piece.

there's no required level for breaking down baldwin materials! So that's still very doable for even a newbie, as long as you can GET hoard items for breaking down. If you can do Coliseum at all, then even the lowest level venue will drops items to melt!
