Just throwing this out there, Arcane, but with the crazy gem ratios if you were to accept dragons for gems, it might be a great way to compete with Shadow without increasing your prices (or even lowering them).

I want to see the board flip too, but with Shadow's payouts and the fact that we are not going all out or anything even close, that's unlikely.
I can't help but wonder how Shadow can afford to pay that much, though! Wonder how many dragons their buy thread has brought in.

They're the biggest flight, and I expect some wealthier members are bankrolling the payouts. Advantages like that are one of the reasons dragons exalted count for more proportionally in smaller flights. (That, and, you know, it's a lot easier for Shadow to exalt 1000 dragons than it is Earth when you look at population size.)
